With just one pregnancy test, Jiang Wan Yu successfully broke up the enviable golden couple in the city and married into the Lin family. But it seems she’s not the winner.

Half a year into the marriage, he couldn’t stand the sight of her.

After carrying the baby for seven months, he cruelly removed their child by surgery, just to comfort his beloved woman.

“Jiang Wan Yu, this is your debt to Wen Jing! Your child belongs to him now, and you have no right to raise him!” She finally left, and her heart was devoid of any emotion.

When they met again, she plunged a knife into his chest and smiled cunningly in the arms of another man, treating him like a stranger.

He pressed her against the wall, “Jiang Wan Yu, who is that damn man?”

Jiang Wan Yu pushed away his restraining arms, and coldly smiled, “Of course, he’s my husband, my child’s father!”

“I won’t allow it! You can’t leave me unless I’m dead!” The man erupted in anger.

Jiang Wan Yu sneered, ”You won’t allow it? Who do you think you are? What right do you have to forbid anything, Lin Yi Chen? Everything you once looked down upon, there are plenty of men who appreciate it! I no longer need you!”

I was almost scared off of reading this because of the scary AI art cover - and I kind of wish I had been. I should have taken that as a hint of how discombobulated the story would feel. I'm gobsmacked at how absurd this was. I don't know if I'm laughing or horrified. I can suspend disbelief for a novel. I regularly do. But this has asked too much of me. I was turned off of the story within a few chapters, but kept going for a while out... more>> of morbid curiosity, until I couldn't take any more.

I'll start with the least egregious - within the first few chapters she
Spoiler

stabs the ML with a scalpel... on her first day of her job as a doctor in a new hospital. Then she pulls the same scalpel on the parents of another patient later. She does not get fired. Or reprimanded. She spends a night in jail holding, sure, but she doesn't get charged with anything, is casually let go. The hospital director is literally sitting there feeling awkward about the situation, as she threatens to stab more people. That's the word used. He felt awkward.

Okay. okay, but we've all read stories where the main characters do highly illegal things without consequences. If you aren't bothered by that (and often I will stick with stories despite that. They just have to be quality somewhere else...) and still want to read about a poor abused woman gaining a loving family then... this isn't that book either.

I mean, it thinks it is.

Spoiler

Again, within the first chapter, the ML has her drugged against her will in the hospital to have a forced caesarian at 7 months into her pregnancy so he can give the baby to someone else and divorce her. Not a single nurse in the hospital thinks its weird to do that? Okay. But yeah we start off with this man as the scum of the earth, he's abused her and ripped her child out of her stomach to give to someone else, and caused physical and mental trauma. Cool, we all love to hate a... wait, did I say ML?

Sure did. This man is the end game. He did it all for her own good! He was PROTECTING her!! Of c o u r s e. From his evil dad! She *apologizes* to him for misunderstanding him. There's nothing to excuse abuse like that, or any of the other things he did to her.

And of course that didn't touch on the racism that the other reviewer mentioned, but that sure is in here too.

I've read so many stories where someone writes a bad review and then ends up in that story that I'm actually afraid of writing this review, because that would be such a nightmare. I don't want to be mean to the author, but I can't recommend a single facet of this story. This was a terrible experience. <<less

What a book!!! Finished it in one go. Though the premise sounds like a typical CEO chasing wife, it is not. For starters, it is short which is a plus point for me, and then the characters are not s*upid. They talk to each other, don't let misunderstanding flourish (the ML was like that before but the reason he gave was also valid) and all loose ends are tied up. The ending doesn't feel abrupt or forced. And there is no reconciliation that feels forced or one that will make... more>> the reader question why????

Spoiler

Just a tad heads up. There are sections of the book that are hella racist and if you are someone who can't tolerate in-your-face racism, please don't continue. The part where racism is at its height is somewhat very relevant to the story, and you can't skip it as well. Just be warned.

The translation so far is good. So will add it to my reading list. <<less

The 1 star is for the translation.
really good work.

the story in itself is a condensation of clichés and not so logical stuffs happening altogether. But I didn’t mind that because I was in for it. Plus, for a Chinese novel of this genre it was short as a previous comment said and it was really a plus.

I’ve finished reading the story but I skipped many parts and even chapters, especially about all the r*cism part :

Spoiler

I mean, what’s wrong with black men ? Author talked about it not in one chapter but over and over again, saying that the villainess worst doing was being with a *black man* in the past, and it happened when the villainess hasn’t anything to do with ML. The fact that she made him wear a green hat when they were engaged seems not to matter more than the fact she had a relationship with that *black man*.

[collapse]

I would really have appreciated the story if not for that big r*cism part though.. What a waste
