Cold Fever takes place several year after the end of Cold Light. Toru and Fujishima are together happily, until one day Toru recover his old memories and forget everything that happen when he lost his memories. Bye, cute and loved-to-bake-cake Toru. Welcome, foul mouthed & distant Toru.
When I was reading this volume, the only feeling that I have for Fujishima is probably pity. He is trying to atone for his previous sin by accepting all of Toru's abuse, all the while wishing for Toru's happiness. Even when all that Toru done to him is kicking him left and right.
The novel contain so many abuse, angst, drama, and terrible character that I won't recommend it to other reader; yet I kinda like the story. Tbh Fujishima shouldn't have accepted all of that abuse and only help Toru from a far. For Tohru, well, his attitude all stem from his childhood trauma, and I understand how this character was shaped. Not justifying what happen, he's old enough to understand stuff. Strangely, the flawed character was probably the strongest point about this series. All of the character's action, their personality, came from their past experience. Not even one action was out of character.
