Thirty year old Liang Xinhe broke up with her lover of seven years because the other cheated on her. Thirty-six year old Ning Xi finally broke up with her partner who had broken up and gotten back together with her several times.
When they first met, they were both in poor states of mind. They both thought that the other was going to be another person who had brushed past their shoulder, not knowing that their affinity had started.

Liang Xinhe: “So I press down the snow in my heart time and time again, as they are too white, too close to spring.”

Ning Xi: “These emotional affairs of the mortal world flash by like a sparrow suddenly swooping past.”

– Yu Xiuhua, “I Love You”

PLEASE READ THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT'S BEING TRANSLATED BY A REAL, TRUE-BLUE THINKING AND FEELING HUMAN BEING.

Ahem. Sorry for screaming. I just want people to give this story a read and rate it 5, thankyouverymuch. The fact that a living being is spending hours out of their precious day translating this is enough to give props, let alone the great story itself. I have previously been ignorant about how much work it actually takes for a person to translate a Chinese novel. Once you've read what a human can do,... more>> the machine translations seem like tr*sh.

Now, I would rave on about the story itself but I'm trying very hard to hold out until the story is fully translated to start reading (no pressure at all, please take ALL the time in the world) and that's because I'm very (very) old and can't retain stuff so if I read each chapter as it comes out, I would have to re-read the previous chapter (s) to catch up and yeah... not good with that. Anyway, the translator is whipping out those chapters at a good clip and frankly, they don't have to do any of this so... I'm very thankful and appreciate it all. The synopsis sounds completely rad and totally up my alley so I can't wait to read this.

THANK YOU and have a great day. <<less

Translator on why it was this one first:

This is probably one of my top, if not my modern baihe novel. Without spoiling too much, the basic premise is that interior designer Liang Xinhe and author Ning Xi are both recovering from messy breakups/ issues in their lives when they start encountering each other by coincidence. The world is so big, but so small at the same time, since they become neighbors when Liang Xinhe moves, and they quickly become friends. And then, as they interact with each other more and... more>> more, they learn more about each other (the fact that they both had previous girlfriends) and start poking around at each other, and finally admit that they've fallen in love. It's very slow, it's very realistic, but they show that love is worth looking forward to, and within Ning Xi's words and Liang Xinhe's actions, we can see what love is meant to be.

The title is from Yu Xiuhua's poem "I Love You", which I found to be the extra cherry on top, with Ning Xi being an author, Liang Xinhe's name, and just the romanticism it brings to life. Hopefully I bring the book justice in the English translation! <<less

This novel is nice and relaxing with two people trying to move on from their past relationship. From random coincidental encounters they start to interact more frequently with one another and slowly fall in love again. I recommend giving this a read!
