The timid Duke’s daughter, Alisa, was an instrument to a political marriage. As such, she was raised to become the fiancée of the crown prince.

At the royal academy’s graduation party, she was suddenly summoned by the crown prince. Alisa, who was unconfident, was frightened.

“Is our engagement going to be annulled?”

But it was the exact opposite.

The crown prince kneeled and pleaded—

“—Please don’t abandon our engagement!”

It seemed that the crown prince was going to be deprived of his right to succeed the throne by his much more talented younger brother, the second prince, and would be reduced into a territory lord.

Because of that, the crown prince came to conclude he was going to be abandoned by Alisa. Alisa realized that she was actually deeply loved by the crown prince and made a decision.

She said, “Even if everyone else abandons you, I alone won’t.”

Alisa, along with the crown prince, led a newlywed, leisure, life in the remote territory where they loved each other.

Eventually, their territory became prosperous enough to overwhelm the royal family.

@kawaii12345 review is bullshit. I almost skipped on this novel because of the review.

[collapse]

To put it simply, the novel is great. The story are decent and the characters are likable (or at least the FL and ml).

The settings are not in Russia as the previous reviewer stated. The name are kinda the same but geographically speaking. It's some sort of maritime territory/states.

One thing that I like in this novl is that the main characters can communicate greatly with each other. Their relationship doesn't rely on the "misunderstanding" plot to deepen their story. The ML respected the FL and somehow their relationship dynamic is equal to each other. (In summary, its a healthy relationship) If they stumbled upon a problems, they rely on each other.

The previous reviewer stated that the story didn't make sense because the ML didn't hate his brother. Well, he explained well in the novel. And the FL explained why she decides to follow the ml.

The story plot is great. It was not smooth sailing. They do require to work hard in order to improve their situation.

It's better than the average Japanese light novel, but not by much.

The novel's strong points are writing, setting and characters, unfortunately none of them are particularly strong. The writing is noticeably better than your run of the mil LN, but only as far as not reading like a grocery list or quest from a JRPG. Otherwise it's definitely off. The MC and the ML have that annoying passive quality that's so common in these. The ML has been robbed of the throne, now has to beg his fiancée to stay... more>> with him, but it's fine no hard feelings. The MC is much the same. Oh I don't have to be empress or royalty and I can live in the middle of Siberia in relative poverty? THAT'S JUST SWELL. She at least has some quirky traits that do give her a little personality. Finally there's the setting, the novel is set in 19th century Russia, more or less. The places, names and descriptions are all kind of there if not really there. The Russian Orthodox Church really isn't big on polygamy, bastards generally don't jump over legitimate heirs etc etc. So unusual setting that's done poorly.

Technical issues aside, I've read 24 chapters and I neither care what happens next nor wish to read any further. It's that MEH <<less

So I've just read the opening chapter and I have to say, our main couple has very cute interactions and I'm already looking forward to what the rest of the plot will offer. There's just enough worldbuliding in the first chapter to give you a sense of what the circumstances of our protagonist's environs look like, and considering how long that chapter was in comparison to the typical fare of stories in this genre, the author has easily gripped my interest.

Easily one of those "I'm in it for the long... more>> haul!" stories just from Chapter 1 alone. <<less

Very cute - novel is written logically and actions have reasonable consequences. The FL and ML are INCREDIBLY shy around each other and it's adorable.
