completely worth the hype. full of the some of the most beautiful lines in all literature.

very entertaining to read, never a dull moment. the plot may seem very random at first but eventually everything just comes together. way more tragic than it initially lets on so be prepared. mc is literally the definition of beautiful cinnamon roll too good for this world too pure. side characters are actually complex and interesting, their backstories and motivations are really quite compelling. <<less

(12/10) absolutely wild. each crime arc is so damn elaborate and complex (and heavily psychological), sometimes it can a bit much, but it’s worth it. lots of hilarious moments between the serious ones. main cp initially don’t get along then eventually get closer, then get together, then get even closer. the relationship development is so wonderfully paced and satisfying. also both are the most shameless characters ever, it’s so entertaining.... more>>

major plus points: mc is out and proud and still highly respected and beloved by all. also has a cat that has an actual presence in the story. <<less

i have learned i do not enjoy political dramas. which is like basically the entire novel. also there’s not so much romance as yearning. that said, it was absolutely worth the read.

very melancholic but sweet. the characters and their motivations are interesting and complex, though it takes a while for it to show because… politics. again, not much romance, but the main cp relationship development is sweet. there’s also a lot of classic poetry, which was fun. <<less
