“What do you need, student?”

The man she met for the first time at the police station opened with that question.

“I… don’t need money, sir.”

“Sir,” when Park Chigyeong repeated the word to himself, his expression subtly changed.

She caught the slight furrow of his brow.

“I heard that’s what people call prosecutors. Did it… offend you?”

Exhaling a puff of cigarette smoke, he smiled faintly.

Taeri couldn’t help but wonder.

“But why have you been acting so bold since earlier?”

Park Chigyeong, who had been casually exchanging nods with the detectives passing by, took a step closer.

“Student. Do you find it ridiculous because I’m being polite? Do you think we’re friends just because I’m smiling at you?”

At a distance where he could have touched her with just an outstretched hand, he leaned forward. His lips brushed against her ear as he whispered, his tone sharp as if he was grinding his teeth.

“Stop trying to provoke me and just name your price, kid.”

As Taeri stood in the lukewarm temperature of March, neither cold nor warm, she felt her palms slowly begin to sweat.

ML is definitely a walking red flag—domineering, disrespectful, and more often than not, downright mean and dismissive. And yet... I have to admit, I find his character so freaking HOT. Not just because the author wrote him as physically attractive, but because of the way he handles a situation. He doesn't just command the room; he is the power in the room. Goodness gracious.

I want to say I hate him for how he treats the FMC, but the shameless part of me wants to scream and spread my legs for... more>> this tall drink of water. I want this man periodt. This man can can step on me and I'd say thank you.

And he hates that he's obsessed with the FMC—mostly because she doesn't feel the same way. So he's constantly moody, his patience razor-thin whenever she denies him what he wants. But let me tell you, I am LIVING for it. There's just something about a cruel ML falling hard for a woman he can't fully control. Sure, he's manipulated her into staying, but deep down, what he truly craves is her unconditional devotion. He wants to own her completely—mind, body, and soul. If he could, he'd control every aspect of her life, but he can't quite figure out how to make that happen. Hah. And I am loving every second of it. This dynamic has me in a chokehold.

As for the smut, I have no complaints. It's hot as hell.

The only downside is translation is still ongoing Will be camping out for more chapters, and major appreciation to the translator for their hard work. <<less

I came here after reading season 1 of the manhwa adaptation!

This is the modern love story of Taeri, a college student in a well-off family who swiftly time-skips into a struggling adult with multiple jobs, and Park Chigyeong, a prosecutor 11 years her senior. The premise isn't entirely unfamiliar, but the execution and characters are distinct enough that the story is memorable.

Both FL and ML are flawed people. Taeri is smart and attractive, but she starts off bored of life and trying to act more mature than she is. Once... more>> her life takes a turn, she matures a bit but retains some fire. I like the vulnerability we see in her relationship with her mom and how that seems to carry into her relationship with Chigyeong's mom, despite her misgivings. She understandably has very mixed feelings about ML (same, girl, same). While she is a bit cringey pre-time-skip, I think that's pretty relatable.

ML is a handsome, rich, and successful prosecutor from a good (?) family. Pretty standard, right? His personality is a very acquired taste, though, and maybe not for the better. He's violent (not with FL), manipulative, and domineering. FL herself believes he is a sociopath. I'm not sure he really has any redeeming qualities so far except for maybe his loyalty and having some self-awareness? Still, I'm a sucker for fictional hot jerks with a soft spot for only one person. Even then, he says some mean things to FL on purpose to get her attention, so be warned.

I recommend reading this if you're okay with a toxic romance and a nearly "moralless" ML. The novel complements the manhwa well because it gives more details and insight into the characters' thoughts.

Another twisted sociopath ML with powerful background and a handsome face 😑 The age gap is 11 years btw. I'm giving this 2 stars for the excellent translation, they did really great and the web is really comfortable to use!

The plot is, if I try to summarize it in one sentence, about a hard-headed poor girl who made/got into one bad decision after another. This is a veeeeery plot driven story. Look, I'm all into stubborn, rebellious female MC, I LOVE them, but dear author, I wished you'd given her... more>> a personality too. In this novel, the ML is her personality, as in, she has no clear goal or dream or purpose that she is working towards. All throughout the chapters I've read she was just dragged here and there, either following or refusing ML. MC is so bland, imo.

And the ML. Ugh. DO NOT LET YOURSELF BE FOOLED BY "I CAN FIX HIM" MENTALITYYY. The s*x scenes aren't even that good assfjfjaaitzd😡 (for example, compare it to Doppio Senso or The Most Perfect Wife).

Even the characters from ML's workplace seem to only serve as a tool to assert his masculine, cold, agressive, controlling persona.

Okay, at this point I understand that this novel simply doesn't suit my taste. BUT I WAS EXPECTING SO MUCHHHH FROM THE AGE GAP PREMISE HUHUHU its mild to say that I was disappointed 😭 it was all just about a h**ny 35 year old sociopath who happens to have good face good body good career and good family background. <<less
