This is definitely one of the better ones I’ve seen - the author truly gives the Systems and the related plot room to play. We don’t lose the MC to the details of romance and whatnot. Characters stick true to who they are. The twists are turns aren’t too shocking but exciting enough to make things fun. Best of all, there’s an underlying sense of humor through the entire novel - primarily due to MC character and wittiness. I just love a story we’re the MC is smart and competent.

Totally love this one. I cannot believe there's plot twists behind the system and the hosts. Now I will see system in bad way whenever I watch chinese short drama that have system. Im satisfied yet not satisfied. (⁠╥⁠﹏⁠╥⁠) MC and ML have great chemistry. They doesn't need mind reading ability to know each other mind.

I want to ship 99 and Best Fortune together. They would make good comedy pair. 😞 The ending for systems and hosts:

God please let someone continue this novel translation!! 🙏😭 The previous translator did amazing job introduce us this great novel. Sure it may or may not have perfect story line or ending, but I think it would still be an exciting unique story!

It's somewhat rare because the plot doesn't have MC as the Only person with System. And ML truly guarding himself against all those people, included MC of course. Though he slowly like MC's personality.

MC is Lazy, but damn he's Clever AF! BOTH MC and ML are Smart. They know... more>> what to do step by step. They have solid plan to what they're going to do. They're not perfect, but still absolutely Clever!

I really hope the author finish this novel with Satisfying or/and Clear ending since I see the extras still ongoing in the statust 🙏🙏🙏

It's interesting how all the chosen Hosts and their System is either Sociopath or Evil or both. With how easy they want and need to eliminate people who they feel troublesome or 'dangerous' for the sake of Mission.

Except MC of course. But after what he had been through, he himself rather Merciless against all those Mischievous people. ML himself also doesn't have problem Playing and Killing the people who had wronged him too. So I guess this novel is a Battle between Dark people. While MC and ML can't be called the Bad Guy because they're not 'Greedy' like those people.

Anyways this novel is truly Good so far. And the Romance also Absolutely Enjoyable! <<less

MC I thought he was going to be a cute foolish unluckly little glutton but turn out he was a mischievous, clever beautiful little fox.

MC and ML playing 3D chess while everyone else playing checkers. They are just unstoppable when they are together sorry everyone else is just cannon fodders. That was the only downside, the villains have brains made from pigs. It doesn't take much effort to clean them up, I just think it was too easy in general but there was alot of planning from MC and Ml.

MC... more>> doesn't do anything much most of the time he spends time with ML planning their moves, moving 5/6 steps ahead.

The relationship between MC and ML is quite interesting, the more they find out about each other, they just can't help themselves

There was emotional moments and find this part quite sad

It was sad to turn the hosts and systems were former inhabitants of other words. All of was left of them was soul fragments. They have their own original life trajectories changed by the Evil system God and lost their lives. I read their stories in the extras and felt especially sad about the last host who sacrificed himself. He was an Top Esport player who big dreams, in the end he lost his life to his fake teammate who fell in love with.

I wasn’t expecting much from this. This summary sounded cute so I tried it.

wtf. Actually. This is surprisingly the best thing I’ve read on here in a minute. Was not expecting that.

It gave some vibes of ‘I’m Not Shouldering this Blame’ and ‘Don’t Pick Up Boyfriends from the tr*sh Bin’ and I’m not mad at all.

Two smart, strong guys against big bad main system and/or loads of crazy transmigrators while smexy tension builds but they have to repress it? Love it. 🥵😍 A lot of concepts have promise but poor execution.... more>> This delivered.

Only sad part is the naughty parts are implied not shown. But that’s cn novels. Alas. <<less

What the heck, why is this random system novel I picked up actually so fire.

Like, it’s not just good for a system novel, it’s just good in general.

Honestly? It’s well written. The story is riveting, the pacing is great, and it puts multiple lovely and fun twists on the transmigration capture system genre that I dearly needed.

Did not expect to like both protagonists (unbelievably rare), did not expect to be clinging on the edge of the seat for the PLOT and not just romance! Don’t get me wrong, the romance... more>> is actually so normal it’s refreshingly nice since a) they’re actually on equal standing, b) my guys have the definition for restraint memorized, and c) their personalities can’t be summarized as “possessive”.

Anyways, I’ve genuinely been let down by so many stories in this genre I was kinda flabbergasted when I got to the end and realized that I couldn’t gripe about it. Yeah sure, it’s not mindblowingly good, but it’s an amusing read so what else do you need? All in all... I really needed this breather from all the crap attacking my eyeballs lately. <<less

Salted fish is MC not following his system ahahahah anyways He did accept jobs and Trains properly. I give 5 stars since it has a different kind of Twist of how the MC came to ML's world. Also the affection Points hahahaha and yep like other review MC is clever, especially in digging pits and counter attacking villains. Salute to ML who got 5yrs+ of torment fr diff hosts. MC and ML knows their own colors/true personality later on and they really suit each other

The MC isn't really a salted fish, but he is very rebellious!!!

So when he discovered that a system binded into him, he planned and schemed against the systems.

It's really fun because on the other end, ML hears the hosts and system talking.

ML and MC eventually figured out each other's scheme and under the system's nose, they have "secret" conversations hidden in their daily, usual conversations while they execute all their plans.

For example, the issue is they are looking for the new host/system. MC will ask, "is the porridge good?"

and if ML says "yes" then there's a new host/system.

It's so enjoyable reading how MC and ML schemes against the system right under its nose haha

BTW, the systems here aren't very powerful like the systems in other novels. Here, they have limited abilities because whatever they do consumes energy. <<less

I opened my wallet to read the raws on JJ and it was all worth it!

This novel follows our MC as he figures out the twists and turns of the control his system has over him, fighting other hosts to finally attain a peaceful life.

MC is a transmigerated person who returns to earth, maneuvering around the entertainment industry. His identity is of a trainee signing up to become an idol, but that's secondary because the main mission is to get close to the ML. MC, having a rebellious nature, does... more>> not accept being controlled and insteads fights against the very mission he got transmigerated for. ML, eavesdropping on the conversation of MC and his system, realises that a change is coming to his life hunted by system hosts, thus kick starting their first meeting.

The novel was surprisingly very action packed. There are brutal fight scenes and deadly schemes lying in wait for our main characters. The ML and MC are both people who have toughened through their journeys of being hunted, so their means are sometimes brutal when "taking care" of other hosts. They are both very smart, lying through their teeths and acting infront of allies. There was not a single dull moment. I especially love how they collaborated with each other to trick the systems and the way they kept things under control with backup plans.

The entire system backstory reminded me of the time when I first read "picking... tr*shbin boyfriends". It was a surprising twist and I was amazed at how extensive each system's personality was written. I really appreciated how we learnt more about them in the side stories too since I got really attached to them.

The side story made me tear up because we don't know whether it takes place before or after the main story. The author is so cruel to leave us hanging. The amount of lives the main system destroyed was devastating.

System99 was just a innocent CP fan living his life being pampered. Their names all co-relate to their past lives and it made me so sad after realising that. (System99, face con's name in chinese equates to "Wish you (cp) happy together for a long time" Someone in the comments theorized that Wim's name is hinting at how he will forever miss his lover and my heart broke) My copium is that the side story takes place after the main story because I want to see the systems and hosts happy. Thankfully the other side story is about the world before MC came back so it's a lot happier.

Very likely a new favorite BL.

Despite what the synopsis seems to suggest, our MC is actually a beautiful, clever, smart, and just overall very OP person. Unsurprising given that he had struggled through a brutal magical world for years all by himself. The interactions between the MC and the system, as well as the mutual testing between the MC and the ML, were quite fun to watch. It's hard to imagine how the ML has survived for five years, surrounded by systems and hosts trying to take him down using... more>> any means necessary in the name of justice. Undeniably, our ML is luckier than other targets due to his cheat of hearing the systems, which thankfully have kept him alive long enough for our MC to come back to save him.

The relationship between our main couple is sweet but full of tension. The chasm from the identity of host and target, the clues from the missing memories, the need to dodge the surveillance of the systems, all make it difficult for the two of them to exhibit their true feelings. Even later in the story, the MC has to actively attempt to lower the ML's favorability to him in order to avoid maxing out the bar and completing the mission early, thus obliterating both of them. It never feels like it's dragged on for too long though, since our couple are extremely sweet despite the lack of physical intimacy. MC and ML are OP so there's minimal pressure, though they do have to be careful to avoid triggering the main system before they're sufficiently prepared. Extras are also very cute, but wish we had even more about their daily lives. Enjoyed this a lot. <<less

Oh the high rating is deserved! I've never seen an author do such a good job at conveying unspoken communication between two people. And the ml's scheming, mischievous personality is so well portrayed, with actually smart schemes that make it impossible not to admire him.

The Mc's calm and rational personality was also well portrayed, and very likable.

The only downside was the ending and the extras. I felt like the schemes got harder to follow towards the end, and seemed to come more out of nowhere. I had also hoped for... more>> more side couples, especially best fortune. I remember someone shipping it and 99, but I was personally shipping him and Sang. And while the visit to the magic world did bring a nice conclusion by showing us where the MC had matured, it could have been much more than just a way to show off how appealing the MC was. It was pretty impressive the author wrote such a detailed extra though. <<less

I went into this novel anticipating it would be lighthearted, but between bouts of mischief, there lie genuinely sad moments and high stakes, as what at first seems like a dating game is a precarious real-world struggle against a hidden enemy. This is a fun ride.

The major scheming from all directions is the best part of this novel, and the foreshadowing means deductions and strategies don't feel like they appear out of nowhere. While unable to say things outright, the MC & ML manage to communicate by jumping through some... more>> entertaining hoops.

Parts of the personal life the MC is returning to get glossed over, but given that they aren't super relevant to the central "Host" and "System" plot line, this makes sense. The characters are varied and dimensional, and even the faceless "Systems" each have a distinct personality, beyond flavour text. Casualties hold weight, especially as the conflict escalates.

Summary: Upon returning from transmigration, the MC is latched onto as a "Host" of a game-like interface. This "System" informs him of his enlistment in a competition to win over the ML, set against the backdrop of idol training. MC just wants eat the foods he has sorely missed. Having endured years of torment from other "Hosts" and "Systems", the ML similarly wants no part in it. <<less

A satisfying read. It's a story with a balanced pacing. The main characters and the supporting characters all have personality and brains. MC's intelligence is entertaining, imagine how much he can glean and piece together clues from the smallest hints. I especially enjoy the systems' interactions, as well as the pettiness of both MC and ML.

I'm surprised at how much I absolutely enjoyed this. The plot and characters were really in depth and interesting, not as shallow as it seems in the synopsis description. MC and ML and the side characters were all well developed and I got attached to so many of them. The interactions were downright hilarious and the plot was deeply intriguing. A 10/10 all the way to the end.

The final show down was heart wrenching and heartwarming at the same time. It gave so much depth to the world building.

It's really good, the characters were smart and it's a smart book. But it can't sustain me to the end. By chapter 40 the story could have ended or made a turning point or a plot change but it ket going on. The problem was, it's already predictable. You knew they're going to win and it will just be a matter of time. Waiting for another hosts to be defeated felt old by this point and they don't hold much excitement to unfold.

Alternate title - Revenge against the systems.

Really this was just so much fun.

We get a power couple with our MC and ML, the systems spinning around in circles not knowing which way is up, a couple action scenes, quite a few sweet sexy (no nsfw) scenes, and a nice big finale. All the little positive reaction dings from the ML against his judgement crack me up. Picture of MC in cat ears - Ding!

I would like to know what university these two are enrolled in since they are able to pass exams and classes while skipping every day. I would have gone there instead of my school where you skip three classes and fail.

Given how many stories we get to read where systems are putting the characters through the wringer or are just plain incompetent, this one is just so much fun because you get to see the shoe on the other foot. Plus, the author does a good job of it with both MC and ML being sneaky, smart bada** boys. My favorite types! <<less

A really enjoyable read! I found Xing Shi an enjoyable protagonist, and Fu Xiuning is understandably jaded due to five years of malicious and insincere pursuit. The fact that Fu Xiuning could read the System and Host chats made it quite amusing, especially when Xiuning's affection points moved.

Xing Shi starts off as a salted fish, but he doesn't stay that way.

I am completely at a loss for words. This novel has completely changed my opinion about the 'system' genre.

I love how the characters are honed by their experiences which made them smart, rebellious and a little bit unhinged. It was really gratifying to see how the MC and ML try to outwit system 99 (a gullible little cutie but also our comrade in the shipping circle) and the main system in general.

The concept itself is already refreshing, it was like unwrapping layers of different fantasy worlds combined into one, set... more>> in modern society intrigue. And honestly the checkpoints for the plot was executed well that it will still leave you in awe on how it unfold despite easily figuring out what might transpire.

Of all the few system novels I've read, this takes the top spot. Truly a thrilling read. And they wrapped it up cleanly too! *Wipes tears* <<less

I found the first couple chapters hard to read but I kept going, and I'm glad I did. Once the plot really got rolling, it's clear that this novel is quite unique. My favorite part is how well developed the characters are, even the background ones. By the end, I was surprised about how many side characters I was attached to. There is a bit of a lull about chapter 60-70 but once you start into the final battle, things pick up again. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this novel!

Overall, it was an enjoyable read with likable characters and some very cute (and sometimes pitiful) "ant" systems. A few of the hosts were also surprisingly sympathetic, and there were plenty of funny moments that kept it light. Around the 60–70% mark I did find myself getting a bit bored with the story, but the ending pulled me back in and left me satisfied.

This is such a nice change of pace!!! I've been in a reading slump for a few weeks now and this novel is my saviour!!!!

Quick summary for those interested but don't know what to expect and are unsure.

MC comes back to modern society after transmigrating to a magical world. He has a system, that tells him his mission is to get close to ML. But, heh, MC doesn't care, all he really cares about is food lol, he suffered so much in the other world, what mission or whatever, nothing... more>> is better than a bowl of cold noodles!! But, we as readers learn of a plot twist in the first chapters, ML CAN ACTUALLY HEAR THE CONVERSATIONS BETWEEN host and system!!! MC also isn't the only host in the world with this mission, that's why ML had to experience so much malice for 5 years bc of the systems and this hosts, so he at first doesn't like MC. But well, u know, things don't go as planned as he gets to know MC. Also, MC realise that maybe the system and stuff isn't really what it seems...

Things you will find in the novel: green flag ML and MC, cunning strategies, cold calm cool MC ML, no emotional drama between them no cheeting or misunderstanding that will frustrate you or make you cry. They are both adults and know priorities, communication and consent too. Plot and romance is on par, so they develop a relationship as the plot thinkens perfectly.

The plot: so dmn good, It presents systems from the beggining as high dimensional creatures that want to help this world. There are so many interesting characters, some quite cunning, some downright crazy, some innocent, some funny, and some very intelligent. A lot of diversity and very well portrayed. The MC and ML are in a showbiz context, where MC is a trainee, and ML is the company boss, but don't expect anything like debut or die. The focus isn't on there. Ofc, our MC has talent in dance, but you won't see much stages, movie makings and such. At most, we saw him juggling with uni and being a trainee, then appearing in an MV and then in a variety show. But main focus is the system, the hosts, and his relationship with ML. He isn't overpowered bc of his powers from the transmigration, but he is very intelligent and cunning, so that is how he solves most problems, even though he knows how to fight too. The start was engaging, the plot thinkened as it went, and it got you very interested in knowing the answers to everything. You even get emotional for supporting characters. And it lived up to the end, and even the extras.

MC: intelligent, cunning, funny, headstrong, down to earth, weirdo sometimes, he is so cool he deserves a bgm.

ML: acts gentle and kind but still distant, quite a psycho inside but that's cause life~ fcked him up these last 5 years. Very intelligent, cunning, calm, colected, likes to make people work to make money for him. Isn't scared of confrontation, and knows how to fight too. But never mention sheep scooters to him...

Romance: their dynamic is seriously soo good, they are perfect for each other, they complement each other so well that I cried bc I don't have anyone like that in my life. They start a bit like enemies in the MLs eyes, but not downright hating to death, but more like, testing each other.
