Okay I totally understand why this novel is underrated.

I have read few coroner's novels like 'Bone painting Coroner' 'The delicate lady coroner' (although I didn't complete them and dropped it halfway) but I really loved the mystery crime solving part in them. They kept you on edge till the mystery was solved. Also the FL's reason to be a coroner was also valid, one was a forensic doctor in previous life and other grew up studying medicine and learning from her adopted father how to do autopsy. So when... more>> these two were in their 'autopsy' mode you could understand where their talent originated from. Also it was quite convincing how/why others trusted their autopsy.

But in this novel it's illogical. FL died and occupied Qin Wan's body, she was daughter of a minister (?) of imperial court of justice who is more like inspector or detective (?) but not a coroner. Okay she did learn medicine from prestigious doctor in immortal medicine valley but again she studied medicine (I think it was mentioned she studied there only for one or two year there) and later had to go to capital at young age because her father got promoted so she had to quit to behave like a young lady of noble family (I MTL it so not sure about this info). And all the crime solving part was basically told by her father and other knowledge by reading books. Again this doesn't explain how she got hands on experience on autopsy. For starters healing someone and doing autopsy is different things although it's related to same field.

Now coming to crime solving part, it wasn't engaging, I was able to guess who the mu*derer was even before FL revealed it (maybe I read many mystery novels so was able to guess it). Also the author didn't round up all the information on how the mu*der occurred. For the headless bride

I don't know how nobody suspected that second young master of Wei, as that's a clear mu*der and he's the one responsible for bringing the bride he should be the first suspect, the bride was headless meaning lot of blood was spilled and he's a martial artist and he didn't smell the blood?? If the bride was killed somewhere else and all the blood was wiped clean then there should be a place she was killed and then put in the sedan. Considering all this points he should be the first suspect, even if they couldn't do it outrightly atleast they should be discreet about it and shouldn't share the evidence and clues. This was so dumb!

And another point original Qin Wan was neglected in Qin mansion for four years probably she was neglected of even basic things so how did she get in touch with medical books when that's considered as precious in that era. Let's say she was very smart and has read lot of books when her parents were alive. How do you explain her hands on experience! She never practiced on humans beforehand. Taking pulse and suggesting prescription based on book knowledge is fine but she did a open surgery on princess! Dissected a dead body without even flinching! Did a cesarean! And nobody I mean nobody questioned how! (Okay except ML having doubt and her elder brother)

Illogical!

Keeping apart this plot holes I tried to continue but it became a bit boring it was expected she'll meet acquaintance but it became so obvious. It was also becoming a Mary Sue novel so I dropped it. <<less

Story begins with the death of Miss Shen, daughter of Imperial Court of Justice Minister and all of Shen Mansion people in capital city. The reason of this incident relates to scandalous imperial family case of emperor's concubine and son. At the same time, in Jinzhou, Zhongyong Marquis Manor's ninth miss, Qin Wan also died. A few days after her death, Miss Shen's soul possesses her body. The timid ninth miss of Qin family changes because Miss Shen is talented in medical and autopsy.

Miss Shen goal is back to capital city and solve her father's case. She wants to know who is the mastermind and the reason. So, that's the biggest case in this story. But, before that she uses her skill to solve some mu*dered cases.

First case is the death of real Ninth Miss. Is it really su*cide or mu*dered and of course the reason. MC doesn't solve this case directly. She needs to solve other cases first. The cases are headless bride of Anyang Marquis Manor and bones in the well of Qin Manor. Case in Qin Manor relates to forbidden area in the manor. This case is the biggest one before MC leaves Jinzhou to the capital city.

There are two cases on the way to the capital. First case is the strange death of young people in a village. This case relates to senior of Miss Shen in medical school. Second case is homicide in Yuzhou. One person death at Prince Yu Mansion and four people death at the rich businessman mansion. This case relates to gold robbery case more than ten years ago.

When MC lives in capital city, she helps officials to solve some cases. In capital too she finds some clues about her father case.

Capital city part is mainly about imperial politics.

I love the MC and ML. MC character reminds me of Ye Li from Golden Age Legitimate Fei. She is very calm and quiet. She doesn't take revenge like reborn MC in other novels. She also doesn't regard herself as Miss Ninth of Qin family. She doesn't have past memory of Ninth Miss. So, I feel change of her character is not big deal. Even though she is very powerful in medical and autopsy, she still needs longer time and sees some clues to solve the cases. ML is Yan Chi. He is the heir of Prince Rui (Commander of Shuoxi Army, brother of emperor). He lived in Shuoxi Plateau for last 12 years with his father to guard the border. He is very capable, cool, heroic and clever. He pampers MC with his love and protection and also has big trust and respect to her.

Interaction between MC and ML is romantic and sweet with hugs and kisses even before they get married. <<less

the story is sooooo wonderful. Once I started reading I couldn't stop myself from MTL THE STORY NON STOP😋♥️the MC is very calm and wise which is my favorite combination in FL lead. What I love about her even more that she isn't OP she doesn't know all of thing or master all the skill like you see in a lot of novel which plus ( (even thought I don't mind OP MC)) I can't wait to finish it
