Yao Fan, a life-fearing office worker, transmigrates into a wasteland world. To survive, he has to scavenge in the wilderness outside the base. Unfortunately, he is mutated into a monster within a high-level variation zone.

He doesn’t want to be a monster and get hunted by the “Cleaners,” so he drapes himself in his original human skin and sneaks back into the base. Through a series of misunderstandings, he is recruited into the strongest and most brutal Cleaner squad. He begins a life of constant anxiety, fearing that his “horse mask” (secret identity) will drop at any moment. If he’s exposed, it’s game over—and a very painful death at that.

There is no good news, only two pieces of bad news:

Everyone in the squad is mentally unstable, and the captain, Ye Zhuo, is especially unhinged.

They all want to know what exactly is hidden under Yao Fan’s skin.

Yao Fan: Please, I’m begging you, stop digging. I’m scared.

To survive, Yao Fan decides to cling to Ye Zhuo’s “thigh” (rely on his protection), hoping that if he’s loyal enough, Ye Zhuo might spare him when his identity is eventually revealed. However, he notices Ye Zhuo’s gaze becoming increasingly strange—like he wants to devour him.

This isn’t right… did I get exposed?

It wasn’t until Yao Fan was pinned to the bed by Ye Zhuo that he realized he might have “clung a bit too high up” on that thigh. He doesn’t know if his life is saved, but his “straight man” c*astity is definitely gone.

Since becoming a monster, Yao Fan has a secret hardship: he craves human flesh so much he drools. To avoid becoming a wasteland version of Hannibal, he endures bitterly. But after being suddenly [restrained] by Ye Zhuo, he realizes things are different. Instead of wanting to eat “people,” he wants to “eat” a specific person.

In the mirror, Ye Zhuo’s voice is low and hoarse, his breath hot against Yao Fan’s ear: “Is this enough? If not, there’s more—plenty more.”

Note on the “Gloomy Ghostly Man” Type: A boyfriend type who loves staring at his partner from the shadows. If he sees his partner getting along happily with others, he will find ways to extract that “stolen” attention back from his partner twofold.
