Ruan Yue had this thought before she lost her consciousness.

If life could be repeated again, she must work hard to get full marks in life.

And then, she went back to her 16 year old campus life.

The sky was blue.

The classroom was noisy.

Okay, the first chapter will leave a really bad taste in your mouth at first. But after you keep reading, somehow you would be able to dive through the characters' inner turmoil. Yes, I really dislike the ML on the first chapter, but he became quite likeable and decent as I keep reading.

Edit: I've finished! The review ahead could be considered as mild spoiler

I don't want to defend ML's behaviour in the first chapter, BUT I can totally understand why their relationship deteriorate to that point. It turns out,... more>> ML had tried everything, this everything included; cleaning, romantic things, loving words, attention, etc. FL couldn't appreciate ML's efforts; she got mad because she thought ML lost her teaching materials, she didn't want anyone to know their relationship (ML's friends never even got to see her).

In fact, in FL's point of view, she said 'She was never pleased with ML, she got mad because she thought ML lost her teaching materials when he cleaned, she didn't want anyone to know their relationship. Lu Shen no longer did those, but she was still annoyed when he just sat on the sofa.'

Now, some of you might think that ML is selfish, probably thinking, 'But you can't force someone to love you!'

Yes, He was not supposed to do the things he did (getting mad at her, touching her without consent -this one is definitely wrong in many ways I just want to point out the reason-). But can you blame him though? He chased her, but the devastated -forgive my awkward choice of word-FL used him for her comfort when she had no one. I mean, how many of you can survive in a relationship-and still loving your partner, knowing that they don't even love you a slightest bit, only using you because they were lonely and disappointed at the world? I'm sure not many. I'm sure I would also become frustated and become bitter, paranoid, and hysteric towards my partner.

'Why didn't he just walk out of the relationship?'

Because he couldn't my dearests, just like FL who was beaten down by the world, ML was also fragile. BOTH were fragile. None of them had the courage to walk out of this fragile relationship. So you see, ML was just a broken hearted boy. FL gave him a hope by letting him in to her life -even though ML chased FL for almost one year, but FL was the one who told him to be her bf-, but she didn't even give him a chance to get her heart. She completely shut ML out of her heart.

Spoiler

By the way, FL was rejected by her childhood sweetheart, later on she knew that her mother and his parents had a past together. FL's mother loved sweetheart's dad when she was young and she was framed by her sweetheart's mother again and again. But everyone in the circle -except my favourite man, Yan Shunning, who secretly loved FL's mother for decades- believed in his mother and isolated also kept pointing at FL's mother.

Also, ML family was actually quite good, but he had a selfish brother who used his parents as his cash cow even though he had a high paying job. He freaking asked his parents to give him money every. single. time he or his wife wanted something. A house, a car, a dowry. He made ML's family carried hundreds of thousands dollars debt. ML's mother was quite partial towards his brother because he had good grades. But that 'brother' turned his back when ML's dad got cancer, ML's mother losing her store, ML dropping out of school, and his family carrying a debt---for him!

ML's dad then died, his mother selling clothes on the streets, and ML had to work without having a chance to study.

You can not hate FL either,
Spoiler

At first she hated her mother because she thought her mother's temper caused their family broke up. FL's mother also had depression after divorce, she became hysterical, demanding, having insomnia, but I really respect her. She was a strong woman, she didn't compromise when her husband cheated. She also tried to protect FL's heart, she said it was better to let FL think that her father cheated with Ding Meijian rather than knowing that her father cheated with Ding Chuchu --DM's daughter and FL's classmate-

After rebirth, FL finally knew what kind of *inappropriate word* her father was. At first, she was still having naive thoughts, trying to save her parents' marriage. But then, she found out her father's true face and supported her mother. FL's grandparents from her father side didn't even like her, blaming FL's mother for not having a boy. FL then realized how hard it was to be her mother.

[collapse]

FL was.. wrecked by the world. A cheating father who loved outsiders more than his daughter, constant fights with her mother, rejected by her crush since she was a teen, low paying job in the city, ML became her only way to get rid of her loneliness. Of course, we all know where it took them, but the author had told us that this FL had low EQ. She had a hard time knowing who she truly wanted. She also had inferiority because of her family's matter. She became quite likeable later on as she was finally able to let go of the past and opening her heart.

Anyway, this story is about letting go of the past, forgiving, and opening your heart.

Spoiler

She didn't get back to the past, it was just a dream. But because of the dream, she could finally repair her relationship with her mother and ML. ML was surprised with FL's change. He did love her, very much in fact.

[collapse]

The spoiler below is the ending. It's more like the ending and the extra chapters summary... maybe?

Spoiler

FL played amnesia and sought after ML's forgiveness. ML got caught off guard first and then slowly accepted that his gf didn't remember anything (Ofc she did). Mom tried to separate them but FL was determined to get ML back. After experiencing the dream, she reconciled with her mother.

FL and ML got back together, and ML studied hard so he could be a police and give a stable life for FL. FL also found out that her dad's lover was not DM, but Ding Chucu. Mom said that she would rather FL got hurt knowing DM as her dad's lover than knowing that her dad slept with DCC who was in the same age with FL. FL supported Mom who struggled with depression and insomia.

By the way, Mom got a new lover. He's syounger by seven years I think? He deeply resented FL's dad and FL's crush's dad. He was the one who still believed in FL's mom when she got framed. They finally got married and had a son! Everyone was surprised but then they became happy.

ML got married with FL and he even got promoted to a captain. His brother in law (Mom's son) really adored him. FL also got pregnant <3

for those of you who wonder who is the male lead ... more>>
Spoiler

no, it's not fu xhixing. It is lu chen. And this is not rebirth or 2nd chance, but simply a dream while FL is in coma

[collapse]

though I sometimes feel that FL doesn't deserve the ML but you can see that deep down FL depends on ML yet she denies it or simply doesnt even think that she really like ML? No worries tho, it is a happy ending and our ML got the love he deserves.

Spoiler

also, the FL believes that she likes fu xhixing. And when he confess, she indeed accepted him. However, once the fu guy tried to be intimate, she really felt uncomfortable and always thought of lu chen. So yeah I guess deep down she might like lu chen but she did not realize it yet. This might because she hasn't reconciled with her past

[collapse]

actually at the beginning I kind of dislike the ML because he lacks motivation? Yet as the story progress you can see both ML and FL change to be the better version of themselves

this one is really have character development and the FL really grew a lot thanks to her dream <<less

This story is really good. It differs from other second chance stories when they came back to reality. The reason they went back to the past is only to make they realized their mistake and who FL really love. I don't really like writing a review even though I have read a lot of novel but this book is so underrated. This story is truly a HIDDEN GEM.

Mixed feelings on this one. Kinda hoped FL would stay in the first part of the story. But the discoveries on the other half was super shocking. I wished the author lengthened the story and added more about the aftermath of all the mess was. The end was also kind of open ended too.

Good character redemption arcs. Villains are a bit one dimensional. Story isn't dragged out and has some pretty interesting twists.
