After being betrayed by her fiancé and her cousin sister, she accidentally rescued an elegant but indifferent young master. Never did she expect to marry him and surprised many!

“Sir, Young Madam took a fancy to an expensive jade.”
He looked up and replied with a casual air, “No matter the price, buy it for her!”

“Sir, Young Madam is fighting with others!”
His face darkened and he immediately ordered, “Get her a few more men. Make sure she doesn’t lose. How dare they bully my wife?”

“Sir, Young Madam has been reported having an affair with a man!”
Upon hearing this, he could bear no more and dashed out without a second thought.

This one has genuinely surprised me. Rarely do I read a Chinese novel where the ML is not a jerk, rapist, or total chauvinist. Plot wise it may be you average tragic FL needs help and ends up in a contractual marriage with ML, alrighty; yet ML cares about her and tries to help her as much as he can. I find it refreshing that he is not an as*hole tryina hook and nothing more.

I read up to the end of the main characters's story (1052). First 400-500 chapters are set in modern day and then it's intergalactic space era until about 1, 000. Yes, you read that right.

The book has a few things going for it early on such as Su Wan's decisiveness and the not-overwhelming-angst. The book had a few things going for it at the beginning of the intergalactic arc too, such as the robot Nono and the mysterious Ming Ye. There are some good misunderstandings in there, but plenty of... more>> bad ones where you just wonder why they don't TALK to each other. Unfortunately, the author is stronger at set up than delivery. It's definitely not a book that you should bring your brain with you to read because there are plotholes big enough to drown in.

Some problems that might annoy people (heavy spoilers!) :

Spoiler
  • Unfinished major plot details like why 'Mr Chen' targeted her parents years ago. How JXC's mom got to Earth. Or inconsistent details: JXC says Emperor's have to give up their memories, but later high priest says the new memories she gave him were perfect?
  • Poor world building: we have super powers connected to Dragon Blood, but only JXC and Ming Ye ever use powers and those powers are never explained. Just random evil experiments because people are evil, but those experiments serve no purpose. Even a lot of work place, investigative, and mundane stuff is uneven or underbuilt. Just be prepared for most of the setting to be sloppy.
  • An excessively sexually shy heroine. They go at it like rabbits for months, but she still blushes and stammers and is embarrassed and ashamed when he kisses her or she's stunned because she worked up the courage to give him a peck on the cheek. For literally a thousand chapters. He's a horndog and loves to tease her. She constantly says no, but we are supposed to know that she's saying No meaning Yes.
  • His personality change in the intergalactic didn't make sense. He lost his memories, so not sure why he became a bag of irrational rage and hormones around her who can't even imagine her emotions (she should be totally cool with having a forced abortion because he's forgiven her for xyz, how dare she be sad! Or why doesn't she just love and embrace him despite the awful things that happened when they first met again, why does she act scared?).
  • A lot of r*pey men and actual rapists. The women seem actually impacted by their r*pe, but the people around them do not treat it as anything particulary awful or horrible.
  • Irrational behavior with massive amounts of delusion and persecution complex for literally every villain except the high priest. And MC has a hole in her head because she keeps forgiving or feeling bad for these pretty young woman or insane handsome men.
  • Diya, who tried to kill the MC and who was generally cruel, was whitewashed into a good girl once spoiled but now safely crushing on a different dude.
