Her grandfather was the emperor’s respected teacher, with disciples all over the world.

Her mother was well-read in poetry since childhood and was the most talented woman in the previous dynasty.

Her father started from nothing and gained the emperor’s favor, rising to Minister of Personnel.

Li Mingwei was an unrivaled noblewoman in the capital city.

A mistaken marriage let her see through worldly affairs. She fled the hustle and bustle and returned to live in her countryside residence, choosing a different kind of life.

By the side of the blue stone road, that person had stood still for a long time. He held an umbrella and reached out a hand to her.

“Weiwei, let’s go home.”

I don't think it deserves one stars, and I don't think there is technically anything morally wrong with this novel so if you enjoy like mediocre writing you will not be offended by this novel. For me I was never offended by this novel but I was annoyed and disappointed. I don't know what the translations are but I don't think they're technically professional so yeah.

I have a lot of words because I have a lot of disappointment about this novel. However, I think it all makes more sense after... more>> I read the author's note which basically said that they felt very stressed about this novel and wanted to give up on this novel but the MC had not come back home so the author couldn't end it & the author was badly influenced by the comments apparently? Idk.

I think this author failed to understand and fully describe important points of the novel. I think a lot of authors may suffer from this but this novel had a lot of potential especially at its start for adventure, policy change, education, worldwide impact, romance, etc. But I think the author didn't know how to capitalize on that potential either in their writing ability or thought process. So because the author was so confused we got this which is just slice of life. Seriously if you had any expectations reading the first let's say 50 chapters about anything else other than romance and village Life slice of Life then you will be very disappointed. So don't be disappointed and know that is what you're getting.

Let me tell you that no one knows about her family and she doesn't go home until chapter

out of the 186 in the main text. That is late. That is incredibly late considering she spent at least 15 chapters beforehand talking about her husband's family's cousins' triangular village romance that I can genuinely tell you I do not give a sh*t about.

But the author refuses or did not even think to write in detail when he
Spoiler
    • First met with her grandfather in the capital even if it was during school like we didn't get that school scene
    • The first time the ML met with his wife's mother and father in the capital when her parents didn't know he was their son in law Even though they reference that this event happened retroactively
    • The first time that ML meets with her ex-husband which is also referenced retroactively as something that happened
    • All of the events of him taking office and dealing with the flood or disaster relief or anything politically important
    • The fact that the MC started this novel as an adventure novel which was so exciting to me and it just became really incredibly boring slice of life and housewife after she got married even though she's so talented and so smart but we don't ever mention it ever again after she gets married which is fine I guess but weird considering how independent and amazing she was before and how she was thinking about education and like improving the livelihood of the children around her but then she got married and she just became housewife and mother which is fine but weird considering
    • The fact that she does go out to teach children and they talk about her grandfather's policies being not great in the sense that it couldn't be fully executed. But then it's never referenced again like I said because she got married and became a mother and housewife. It only gets referenced once when she talks to her grandfather about it in chapter like 170s or 160s And they just say all too bad about that policy. And nothing ever happens despite many paragraphs before she got married talking about the education system and how it could be changed. And nothing being done about that foreshadowing absolutely nothing and all she is now is a housewife and a mother people please how many times are you going to say she was talented and then ignore that she was talented afterwards.
    • And then she gets three children and we barely know anything about the three children other than the fact that she calls them really funny nicknames. And that one time her eldest son pulled out flowers and so she made him plant flowers again but that's it. That's it I never know anything about the children and we don't really see them taking care of them or anything or details

But this is what I would like to repeat: The author didn't do any of this yet the author was like you know what we're going to talk, about you know what we're going to write about? We're going to about write about her cousin in law's village romance for 10 chapters. Those 10 chapters she could have been in Beijing. Those 10 chapters she could have written a policy I don't know but it's so disappointing. I just read every chapter thinking if she does not go back to Beijing this chapter I swear to f*ck. And I kept thinking that way and I was like I'm going to give up this chapter if they don't go back home now but.... yeah. It's just the fact that I wasn't expecting this novel to be about the village only okay. I'm fine with all of these details about the village life and the country life as long as you give me a hundred more chapters in the capital and you do everything you foreshadowed about before she got married and you give me more details, but no. you can tell that the author was rushing to the end and the author had no idea what they were doing.

Not to mention let's be perfectly honest that ML does not really have a personality. His personality was interesting when we first met him like I could see some quirky clever thing about him being hard-working and whatever but then he just slowly turned into a stereotypical young wolf dog. I'm so confused and then after that I was like I don't really see him having a real personality but that's because he wasn't really written in detail either. In my opinion.

I don't think this book is bad but this book is very mediocre and as long as you have no expectations for anything other than village slice of life then you will not be disappointed and you will have a good time. It is not the best writing you've ever seen but it's not the worst and the focus is whatever kind of boring sometimes but overall it's not bad. It's just a waste of potential really but the author was obviously over this novel. The best thing I would say about this novel is that it has an intriguingly different romance. I've kind of seen it before and I've seen it done better but at the same time this isn't something that is overly done. So the fact that she is in a higher power position but the ML doesn't know thar and that both the MC & ML aren't a**holes is very interesting and moves the novel forward, but it's not good enough to move everything forward. It's not good enough to make up for everything that should have been there. But it is interesting I will give it that.

Yes, I added the slice of life tag after reading it. You're welcome. <<less

First of all... who exiled her? Nobody! Sis packed her bags voluntarily like it was a spontaneous gap year. 😭 Her family said, "Don't marry that man, " and she said, "But what if I ignored red flags like they were carnival lights?" And of course—surprise!—he cheats on her. She divorces him (yay!), but instead of going back to her ultra-rich family estate, she flees like she's in a melodramatic K-drama and decides to cosplay as a poor person.

Like... full-blown peasant LARP. 😭

And the best part? She's out here gaslighting... more>> with her inner monologues with things like, "Hmm, I don't understand why they would find passing the county exam hard? Why is she haggling over vegetables? How could I a woman alone in a random place get robbed right away?" GIRL. PLEASE. BFR.😭

Now, I get it—she's supposed to be naïve, and this is probably her 'Eat, Pray, Love' phase, but I swear the plot is just: rich girl plays survival mode on easy, and still thinks she's suffering.

I'm equal parts entertained and exasperated. I will probably keep reading just to see how deep the delusion goes. 😭💀 <<less

As the previous comments have said, this book is quite mediocre.

If you just want a slice of life/romance than this will certainly hit the spot.

... more>> There was a lot of missed opportunity with this book to make it great. With the beginning it feels almost misleading, with the way she was teaching and talking about education. It made me think she was going to do something or make improvements to the current system.

But besides that the book is just an alright read to pass the time.

The translations is also decent not anything professional.

Would I read it again? No.

Do I regret reading this book? Also no.

So if you want a simple slice of life/historical/romance this is for you. <<less

At some point in the beginning, I was misled to believe the FL outsmarted her family.

She was actually quite naive, but her kind heart attracted such a good-natured ML.

I appreciated the benevolent act of Li Yi founding schools for the poor. And I was greatly dissatisfied with the FL's mother. She seemed jealous of her own daughter being doted on by Li Yi.

I should add "bickering couple" tag.

Not such a great story, but good enough to pass the time with a HE.

slight spoilers in review

It's a mediocre slice of life book it's not something that I would read again but I did like it well enough. No real drama or dog blood here. Anything related to palace intrigue/government is quickly resolved off screen in just a handful of sentences. And that's all toward the last 20 or so chapters. The rest just focus on MCs life In The village with brief looks at ML's scholar journey. Just based on the first chapter and summary I was worried she'd end up with... more>> her s*umbag first husband thankfully that ML was someone else

the focus is mainly on MC going into self exile, realizing how different and difficult life is outside of the capital and finding love not just with the people of the village but with the land it's self and wanting to do better for them without a super OP golden finger. She really liked the charm of a simple life, though if she wanted that she should have married a farmer instead of a scholar who dreams of going into officialdom. It's just she doesn't do much beyond helping one village of boys and girls become literate and helping a boys academy with their writing... other heroines have changed literal governments to make sure girls and the poor could get proper education and she just kinda stopped after she left the village maybe she did stuff off screen.

but her story had an abrupt ending including a brief time skip before going to do extras based on background characters. There are characters you don't get much attachment to, their kids didn't get much of a personality. It's just a bit disappointing that the ML had such a good personality at the start a bit bold, clear hardworking assertive but but towards the end he has bouts self deprecating and anxious because MC waited so long (even before she actually returned to the capital) to tell him her identity and family background that he kept feeling less than.

i started the extras but couldn't fully enjoy them beyond skimming. A few just expand on information we already had received through conversations between characters with only a little bit new info. Almost like history of each character or an explanation to a character's actions and thoughts. Some show the future for the younger generation. But like I said none of the characters have too strong of personality nor have they done things to move you / be attached to that you want to keep reading to find out what happened to them. To be honest the ending and the extras only diminished my enjoyment of the main story

Spoiler

the author including a queer character with unrequited love to his friend was a bit sad and honestly unnecessary. While internally I joked that the two left over friends were a bit fruity and were lumped together what with ML being married, friend #2 is a bit of play boy. I honestly would have preferred the good brothers route rather than see a sad spiral

Good slice of life romance. Main lead is not OP, just has a few skills she learned growing up that allowed her to earn her way when she ran away after divorcing. It’s rare to have a story where the main lead runs away from the rich life to experience being poor. I kind of want to take off half a star from my rating because of her lack of communication with her husband though. I don’t think it was healthy to hide so much in their relationship about her... more>> plans for the future, especially since it mainly involved him. Good story to pass the time. <<less

This right here is a genuine slice-of-life feel-good romance story. It's really good too. This is just a general feel good story with plenty of fluff. There's not really much I can say without getting into spoilers, but it's just a solid story that's well paced with fun characters and just the right amount of conflict and drama that you would want in a slice-of-life feel-good romance story. It's about the perfect length, not too long or too short, and it doesn't ever feel like it's dragging or being overly... more>> muddled. The premise is one that could have been dragged out for 1500+ chapters with way more conflict and drama, but I'm glad the author chose to write something that is actually enjoyable all the way through. Seriously, this is good lighthearted fun with just enough spice to keep it going. <<less

The story had so much potential. But the author chose to focus on random things irrelevant to the story instead. We had detailed chapters on what happened in a neighbour's marriage affairs. And everything that actually needed attention was barely covered in a few paragraphs.

While I understand that this is a slice of life story, I wish the author actually gave some attention to the main characters development

I had a really good time, a feel-good read.

A story of self-searching, a ballad with a happy ending.

I really liked the story and the characters, even if Li MingWei was a bit boring at times.

A good, sweet webnovel to read after a webnovel full of angst.

I had a great time with : The Exiled Life of the Noble Girl

I highly recommend

It’s an interesting story. However it felt that the author wanted to write an adventure and some drama plot twists novel but ended up with a slice of life. It had all the ingredients for a good drama story but it all went to waste. Nonetheless, I did enjoy reading about her time in the countryside. The ML is bland.

7/10 it is a pretty good book but it missing something so I can't put it in the "top tier" category. I enjoy the silliness and goofiness of the characters but then halfway through it becomes a comedy book? The start seems pretty ok but slowly it becomes romcom. Also the development of the ML character also quite abrupt. He didn't show signs he was into her then the next second he is into her I don't know I mean I do enjoy the book it was very lighthearted and... more>> sweet but I need more drama for the drama tag. Also, there is a lot of side stories of other characters that I am not interested in :/ <<less
