A solid story with good pacing and characterization. It was nice to see it acknowledged that just being in the past with foreknowledge is not enough to change many things; there is frequently a question of opportunity and social status.

MTL the whole novel, was surprisingly readable. The MC is fairly likeable, but he makes some of the strangest deductions. The handling of mental illness was very strange in this novel, and the descriptions of depression and other mental illnesses left a bit to be desired. I'm not sure about the way that it was all handled, and have to say that I have definitely read better depictions of it in media.

For example, the ML who suffers from depression is often depicted as having episodes of depression with specific somatic symptoms like loss of appetite and insomnia. However, he distinctly never is depicted as lacking motivation or hope in life except when he commits su*cide at the start of the novel. The whole description of his depression was just very scientific and lacked real feeling. I had trouble connecting to his character and really feeling his pain for a large majority of the novel.

Another issue that I had is that the ending was a bit rushed and didn't feel very satisfying.

The MC and ML never confirmed their relationship and ended without having communicated to one another that they were both reborn. It just felt very unsatisfying for having read over a hundred chapters of their relationship development for them to not actually get to a relationship.

The story is very focused on the love development of the two leads. I have to say that MC is has a really keen intuition and observant that comes up like a lot in the story. His strenghts helps ML in more ways than one. The story does touch on mental illness which I say that it may or may not be accurate so don't take it too seriously.

This novel is a nice light read to pass the time. Nothing exceptional but I enjoyed the MC and ML's chemistry and the plot.

Spoiler

One review said that in the end they didn't confirm their relationship and didn't tell each other they were reborn. This is wrong. I don't know if the author changed some things or something else but they actually get together and reveal everything.

I also have to add that the way depression is described in this novel is not accurate.

MTL'ed the whole thing, so I might have missed a few details. Nonetheless, the first few translated chapters were so good and the plot was too gripping that I proceeded to read the whole thing.

Echoing what the others said, this novel is mainly anchored to mental health issues, but it is in no way realistic (which was also noted by the author on one of their notes).

What made me stay, though, is how the author sprinkled important bits of information that you won't know was important until it was clarified.... more>> The foreshadowing was also good I literally bulldozed my way into reading everything. The characters are loveable as well, and the romance was a little bit slow- as it should,

because ML was reborn as well, and they were vengeful and suspicious about everything and everyone.

Indeed, there were some plot holes and details not fully explored nor reconciled :

  • MC's goal of becoming a scriptwriter was repeated a couple of times in the whole novel, but we never got to see it at the end.
  • The whole chandelier thing. ML had a lot of options to kill himself, but why that specific way? There were no instances in the novel where it was mentioned that they were brainwashed to do that specifically. It did fit the whole plot as devised by the main perpetrator, but there were no other explanations for that.
  • ML's brother appeared so that the plot could explain how MC managed to investigate ML's death before... then disappeared. I think I just needed more of them heh.

All in all, it's a good read. If you are searching for a mystery novel that slowly unravels all details, a very caring MC, and good chemistry between the leads, then this novel could be a good recommendation. <<less

It's pretty good actually. But the ending isn't satisfying. The plot is kinda good, about double rebirth MC and ML searching the truth of their previous life and try to change their fate. The problem isn't complicated, they know who the suspect, just need to know why and how.

And just like the other says, the depression and mental problem thing here isn't accuratelly describe here. Some plot hole like,
