Su Bai wakes up and finds that the world has changed drastically. He realizes he has come to a world of pets. After accepting the new setting, he is determined to become a powerful Pet Tamer.

One day, Su Bai’s pet releases a beginner skill spark. Flames flutter and the sky turns to ashes…

A water attribute beginner skill causes the boundless sea to fall from the sky, flooding thousands of miles of mountains and rivers…

One blow rips apart the claw, and endless sharp bursts explodes. One after another, worlds fall apart…

A passerby: (゚Д゚≡゚д゚)!?

This is a world of pets and monsters. Every teenager will develop a soul stone in the middle of their eyebrows.

After placing the soul stones into stones, branches, water, and any other thing, a spirit egg unique to the owner would be born.

Once the spirit is hatched, the owner will receive his own beginner spirit contract book. Then, he can embark on the road of contracting and training various spirits and monsters.

However, Su Bai seems to be doing things a little differently…

This is one of many Pokemon-esque series where an MC randomly transmigrates to a parallel world and has OP pet-identifying abilities for no reason other than the author said so.

The MC is an adult who transmigrated into a teenager's body in a world similar to his, but they have magical pets and monsters. The transmigration adds nothing to the story, and the MC fits in as easily as if he spent his whole life there. He doesn't have any incongruencies to struggle through, so the transmigration is a pointless feature... more>> that could have been left out altogether. It doesn't contribute to the plot at all.

The MC is a mature, intelligent, hard-worker. He hasn't shown any character flaws so far, and he hasn't had any character or personality development in the free chapters. It is nice that he has a family, even though no one is shown to have any depth to their character designs either. Weirdly enough, although the MC claims to have no interest in beauty, the writer undermines this by giving him a pet that will eventually evolve into one called "Limitless Beauty" and eventually "God of Beauty."

The MC has an OP ability and an OP teacher and an OP resource and etc. From the very beginning. It looks like he's going to become overwhelmingly OP quickly.

The pets train and evolve like pokemon as they grow stronger. Even their attacks have the same names as those used in pokemon. I love monster evolution, so it's fine with me. There are a limit to how many pets a person can have, so each one is precious.

HOWEVER, these pets are referred to as "it" rather than he/she, even when the gender is known. Furthermore, the translation team eventually stops from referring to the lowest ranking pets as "servants" and calls them "s*aves, " which has a completely different connotation in English. There are also many other odd nuances that don't work well in English and distract readers from the narrative.

The action isn't vivid and lacks details, so it doesn't give me any adrenaline rush. It's just not exciting. That said, the fast pace of the writing can keep it going for awhile. Unfortunately, the writing quality just isn't enough to do much more than that. Where's the conflict the MC is struggling with? Oh, there isn't one. How did the development and culture in this place differ from our world? What about the technology? Oh, it's all the same. Are there people capable of taking on the MC in the future? No, it doesn't look that way.

This series is interesting and would have potential if it were reworked with a focus on character depth and development with world-building. At the level of the free chapters, though, I only see it as being good for a free casual read. <<less

I will give this novel 5 star for MC pet development, pet behavior, rise from poor to rich, how the system work (the not annoying one) and how MC treat his pet. But, because the MC and his gf always together. And he keeps giving her treasure and money. MC more need those thing. It's annoying how this great novel got ruin because romance. I rather read how the pet and MC do on daily life instead of reading MC and his gf flirting with each other. I hope... more>> the author change how MC act towards his gf. It's so cringe to read it. <<less

Pretty dull. There's no hook and nothing interesting pretty much ever happened in the decent amount of chapters that I already read through.

Like others wrote already the whole transmigration aspect of the story was completely pointless and has no relevance towards the story.

Another thing I'd like to point out is that our MC here is supposedly a grown man from future but that for sure is not reflected in his actions, he is very much a child. In fact this whole story is incredibly childish; the antagonists (if they can... more>> even be called that) are at the level of "a person who got beat up in a tournament before" who "threatens to break your legs".

Obviously once again this novel is very heavily influenced by its most successful counterparts such as Douluo Dalu or other progenitors of this whole 'Pokemon-esque' -genre as someone already so nicely put it.

Thus, this book has very little appeal to me but for virg*n readers of this story type it might be good time. In conclusion I'd give this 2, 5 stars but due to limitations of the system it'll have to be 2 from me. <<less

This is actually a great book. I don't know why others have low reviews.

The MC is good. Not unreasonable OP and his golden finger is reasonable.

There's no harem which most of the other novel is.

My only complain is the ending.

Spoiler

WTF!! I need book two. Is there a book two? Tell me there is! I also don't know where his wife have gone to.

[collapse]

Good characters. It doesn't anger me to death unlike other where there so many death seeking characters that provokes the MC for no reason. This book has a balance of allies and enemies.

I like his friends and pets. I just felt uncomfortable with Purple Jade for a while but oh well... Everything's good.

Heavily recommended ❤️❤️ <<less

Another Not Bad story from qidian. Feels like your standard cookie cutter cultivation/pet raising story. IMO the romance in this one was one of the better ones, the MC was pretty much loyal through it all and stayed dedicated to his wife, barely even looking at other women. As is normal, pacing gets kinda wack in the later half of the story, especially after getting the time pet. Lots of rushing, lots of foreshadowing about insanely powerful enemies and creatures far in the depths of the universe. The ending was... more>> essentially like the beginning. There's a ton more left in the universe and the MC was basically only starting his real journey. Cute interactions with pets with very different personalities, could do with less word fluff/repetition about each pet's daily actions like purple jade constantly asking whether he needs a ride or saying no problem lool. Overall very readable, keep expectations low. <<less

I was eager to get into another pet novel, as I've enjoyed quite a few of them, but here I am on chapter 5 and we've already reached the most utterly unsatisfying thing ever.

The MC awakens the scanning gold finger like most other pet novels so they can see the stats of pets that nobody else can see. Now, they're at a market to basically pick out what their first pet is going to be. This is like a gacha game where the MC can see what's inside every treasure.... more>> Then, suddenly he's got a pet item in hand and that's the end of that.

The whole point of such a scanning power is to search through the hundreds of options and find the hidden gem. The pet that has the greatest potential or a secret power or something. Instead all of that richness is completely ignored. We don't even get a single sentence of looking at other pets or even a full description of the pet this guy has insta-picked.

From other's reviews it seems this completely unfulfilling pattern continues on. Just going through the motions of a story without hitting any of the good parts. <<less

Fluffy novel done wrong.

I'm guessing author wanted to write a slice of life, "uwu" story.

A boy who travels to an alternate dimension, where poke- sorry beasts exist to make pets.

His introduction is bland, the scene description is bland. The fluffy cuteness comes off as childish.

There's no tension, no interesting plot... In summary it's a bland draft of a fluffy CN Pokemon...

Based on my rating scale I gave it a 1.5 stars which means it has 2 major flaw that stop me from finishing the book multiple mid and small flaws.

Short description of book- MC get recarnated into a parallel world like earth but monster exist they come from other dimension try to kill humans. His family and everyone he knows do live in this world where MC take over his own body from this parallel dimension. MC slowly grows from a weak poor teenager to try to reach to top... more>> using a system that shows the status screen of all things. He wants to reach the top because he was mediocre in his past life he also regrets not asking out his childhood best friend. My review contains spoilers if you dont want to be spoiled or dont want my long winded explanations just read the underline parts.

Major flaw- complete lack of world building. It's honestly sad how lacking the world building part of the book is the author stats at the beginning that the world he recarnated into is the same a earth but 100 years ago monster came about. So you would think china would be called china that's what I assumed until chapter 250ish where the MC starts talking about rabbit kingdom yes it took close to the end of the book for the author to tell you that the country the MC is in is called rabbit kingdom this is a great example of how lacking the world building is there's a lot more I'll cover in the other points.

Major flaw Main cast dieing ssenselessly if you kill off a main cast member or an important side character it should have at least some meaning maybe MC grows from there death maybe it goes into the next plot as a revenge story maybe a main cast member break down and MC has to try and help them or even MC himself breaks down does s*upid sh*t and eventually gets back up with the help of new or old friends and family something should happen when they die but nope never does and when I got to chapter 330 and all of a sudden MC master dies and his family get captured right after finding about the time clan and time monsters yaa I see where this is going goes back in time save everyone and the world. Not to mention when his girlfriend master dies and the author did nothing but say girlfriend is sad MC feels guilty in a sentence or two then the next paragraph goes back to the plot like nothing happens you can see why I got fed up with it.

Mid flaw- Chinese nationalism, yep it's the dreaded nationalism that pop up in 1 in every 10 or so chinese novel funny thing was there was little to no hint of this in the first half of the book the only kinda sign being the author never talked about other country's including the ones near chinese but it starts ramping up in the second half you apparently have all top-mid levels of power in the west fleeing from earth because and I quote 'they have freedom and equailty' yes that's right every single top-mid level power in WHOLE WEST fled leaving behind there home country non pet tamers resources everything all because they have freedom and equality but not china nope and it's not like if people are forced to fight and dont want to they will fight half heartily nope not at all apperently. You also have other smaller chinese nationalism stuff like the city being the center of the whole world and stuff like that.

Mid flaw Author directly contricts himself throughout the book I'll give an example author says MC doesnt care if his pets are cute multiple times he even asked his teacher for an egg she even says she is surprise that MC doesnt list being cute as a requirement his first pet was suppose to be ugly based on the material he got. Yet low and behold mid way through the book he says he got the material to get a good looking pet since it would transform from a ugly Caterpillar into a cute butterfly this happens quite a bit thought the book which is why I made it a md flaw instead of a small flaw.

Mid flaw- The scenes where the enemies make plots against the MC is very bland and comes across has half baked people know he has a ancestor blood dragon and have tried to kill jim for it but only send out the weakest henchmen even they they really want the dragon muliple conflict are so flat feeling it's really hard to describe unless you read it for yourself it just doesnt feel realistic at all.

Mid flaw- zero character development ya neither MC nor friends ever have character development MC is perfect even though he never killed back in regular earth he was perfectly fine killing for the first time he's handsome and gentle and lowkey and rich and just perfect so says the author same with MC girlfriend and his friends. Also MC talks about before how status and fame shouldn't make you better than common folk yet he hasn't mention his best friend nor the other friends he hang out with after entering college so ya that was a lie he takes a master yet barely learns from him or even sees him I think we get about 5 scenes of him what's the point in taking a master if you dont learn from them or at least use their protection more than 2 times in the whole dang book.

Minor flaw- he shouldn't even have met his master it makes no since that his master who is a pinnacle level trainer just hasn't gone to the government to upgrade his status from top level trainer who is trying to take over a dying world in another dimension and staving off alien species that are trying to go to earth and wants to be super low key yet decides to go to a fifth tier city supervise and judge MC score while he is taking a low level pet trainer test. You might say he want to take in a disciple but nope it was stated he was planning on never taking on a student again so it makes zero since for him to be there and take on MC as a student.

Minor flaw- first half of the book there is very little action making it feel like a slice of life book. I didnt mind this hence I consider it a small flaw but I can see how other do mind.

Minor flaw- description is super clickbait dont expect op MC for the majority of the book I enjoy the slow grind where the MC starts at the bottom and makes it to the top but based on the description it seem like he will be op from the start which was why it took me so long to starting reading it.

Minor flaw- rankings get mixed up quite a bit dont really need to explain the author or maybe translator keep mixing monarch and sovereign.

Minor flaw- romance scene didnt make sense so his future girlfriend ask him out he says no she than forces him to say yes and apparently he had a huge regret of not working hard in school to go to the same college as her and date her in his previous life and wanted to make up for that in this life. See the problem why say no if you had such a huge regret of not asking her out I dont get it what so ever.

Minor flaw- His reincarnation has no impact on the story author might as well have made him born into this world since he never expands on this plot point the author easily could have made MC question whether or not his family is the same family he knows and love even if their personalities are the same as his previous world making him paranoid of them and shutting himself off from them until he comes to the realization it doesnt matter since they love him or something like that

Minor flaw- MC gets goes out with his childhood friend (happens at the beginning of the book not really spoilers) at 16 when he was at last mid 20 in his previous life found it a bit creepy when he did this I understand having feeling for her since he knew her in his previous life but he could have waited until he's 18 author likes to point put the the age of consent moved down to 16 because that's when you get your pet beast and you mature faster because of your pet yet goes on to say the girlfriend wants to wait till 18 before having s*x which is fine to want to wait but the reason was she was to young I believe sooo ya also you camt get married till 18 apparently in this world which even though your an adult at 16.

Pros

Mid pro this world isnt a everyone slaughters everyone else like most chinese webnovel until the around chapter 300 that is.

Mid pro MC pet personalities are pretty cool they are simple like you would expect of monster though it should be noted its probably because the author cant make more in depth personalities but either way they are fun and the interactions are heartwarming.

Ya thats it no other pros in short do I recommend this book no not at all the only enjoyable part is his interaction with his pets everything else the author couldn't even put in the most basic of effort into. The first 100 chapter while had flaws could be considered enjoyable after 200 it was a nose dive. In between 100 and 200 was a steady decline of enjoyabilty. <<less
