Legend has it that merfolk are shy creatures with melodious voices and delicate bodies, doomed to walk a knife’s edge upon land, ultimately dissolving into foam and vanishing without a trace, much like the Little Mermaid in the tales.

Hai Wangshu, however, was the type of merfolk who defied such legends.

He couldn’t sing, but he could take on ten opponents single-handedly. Upon land, he moved like a tiger entering a forest, his perfect looks allowing him to stand out in talent show auditions. He became the only amateur contestant and, through sheer luck, partnered with Yue Zhuo, a movie star, causing his popularity to skyrocket.

Viewers watching from their screens had no idea that this parkour prodigy, who could free-climb rocks so fast even safety ropes couldn’t keep up, was actually a merfolk from the sea.

Just as they couldn’t tell that, aside from Yue Zhuo, all the big-name celebrities partnering with trainees and minor actors were also not human.

After his variety show debut, Hai Wangshu launched his career as an action actor. His first successful audition landed him a role in a film that also featured Yue Zhuo.

Yue Zhuo’s fans and friends were stunned. Everyone knew that Movie Star Yue only worked three months a year, spending the rest of his time sleeping at home. How had he suddenly become a workaholic?
