Jiang Xiaochuan, a corrupt official, was reborn after facing internal disciplinary process.

However, he found the world was deceitful because he was already blackened at this moment. God granted him the medicine of regret but not the path to redemption.

In his past life, he strayed due to misguided love, but in this life, he was determined not to repeat the same mistake.

Thus, the battle of wits between corruption and anti-corruption began. Politicians, gangsters, businessmen – all mixed together, engaging in framing, reporting, and collusion, each employing their own methods.

Jiang Xiaochuan finally realized that it is challenging to be an official, even more so to be a corrupt one, and most difficult of all, to be a repentant corrupt official!

Coming up to almost a third of this story I'm gonna leave a comment up to now since the translator has translated up to here and I'm gonna read this novel as they do translate due to the nature of the story. Now lets talk about the story, this is some heavy stuff and by that I mean it has a heavy atmosphere with deep serious topic that can resonate with some of us whom live in countries with similar political situations and is depressing and dark at least to... more>> this point in the story. You need a lot of patients to be able to read all through this political plow but it has a mystery going on through the story too, that makes one able to read through it, though I'm sure it will blow like a bomb in the readers face in the end. All in all a serious but good story about second changes and prices to be paied, I hope you can give it a shot at least. <<less

Let's see...

At first you may think this novel is too complicated since all about Politics and Corruption, but was it really complicated?

This was actually a story about a man who were once a good official but since he put his trust to wrong people, he eventually went down the wrong road with them and died with regrets. Thus when life gave him another chance to repent, he made a decision to somehow change his fate, fight against those people for good cause with shrewdness, later on, everything was exposed, he... more>> survived but still ended up alone.

This was also a story of a good official who regret to see a once good official go, so without knowing, in that corrupt officials second life, he did his best to clear his name and support him till the end.

This novel is too serious tho there are times that I laughed at some scenes, but if you will think about it, how many scenarios are happening in our government IRL? Could you still laugh about it? Probably not. But since this is just a fiction novel you could say that this might be use as a "Wake up call".

We're all humans

We make mistakes

But sometimes I wonder

Do we really regret those things that we did? And how far could we go just to clear our conscience? <<less
