This is the story of a Kantas couple’s successful efforts to lay (steal) eggs:

“… You stole it?” Black’s expression tensed as he cautiously lowered his body, using his wings to conceal the nest more tightly.

“I didn’t steal–” Listening to Black’s question, White’s expression became prouder. He stuffed the large white egg beneath his bu*t as he replied excitedly, “I laid it!”

Boom– Black seemed to have heard the sound of a string known as rationality snapping in his head.

He finally knew what was more infuriating than a husband leaving home for half a year only to come back with a wife three months pregnant. Which was–

A wife leaving home for a few days to find out that his husband had laid an egg!

The story’s protagonist → Meng Jiuzhao (crying) : I am that egg.

Loved this!!! Enjoyed each 'aspect' of this novel thoroughly. The synopsis itself was pretty unique and the story is equally enjoyable. Usually, if it's a story were the MC and ML are raised since young, you'll only get to see and feel 'their' part of the hardships and any other characters in relation with these guys tend to fade away in the background. You don't really see the background characters get their fair share of screen-time in these sorts of novels. Also, at times, I have noticed that the main... more>> protagonists in these stories are either OP from the very beginning of their birth or as such, develop to be OP. There are those whose major focus is on face-slapping the villains. But this one, is a real treasure. We get to see two underage cubs father two kids, the MC and ML and the hardships they suffer to raise their kids, the happiness and sadness they share as a whole, a family together, how they overcome their ordeals together is a very beautiful and pure relationship dynamic that is actually 'rare' to see in most of the genres in general. To an extent it has slice of life theme, but unlike slice of life where you feel relaxed, this is more of a rollercoaster of emotions, a journey depicting the characters' 'growth' in physical as well as emotional aspects and, as I emphasized previously, it's not just the main protagonists whose character grows, but alongside them stand by their family, friends, peers, other tribe members who also grow together as one and a whole. From being the lone cub brothers to fathering two cubs of their own-

Spoiler

The brothers are indeed brothers of the same father but the cubs which they laid are actually not exactly 'cubs'. The cubs are MC and ML from a future timeline. The MC is an orphan from 'Earth' whereas the ML is the emperor of their era, the top of the hierarchy in terms of his genes and his/his predecessors' achievements, a Kanta.

The world which they lived in prior to travelling to primitive times was a very advanced world, where due to the evolutionary changes over the centuries, the ancient creatures from the era of dinosaurs can as such, turn to humans. Even trees are able to transform into humans and live for ages; thus, these evolutionary creatures are able to place themselves in the upper stratum of the society. The MC is an orphan from the human world, though much light hasn't been shed into either MC or ML's past. So, throughout the course of the story, you can assume that we're pretty much kept in the dark about their past lives but by the author's short hint and clues, we can definitely uncover one thing, the ML did love MC in their past lives and that's why threw MC into the time-space capsule to survive taking up the brunt of the attack for him (MC). MC took ML's feather with him to the time capsule and this helped in preserving both MC and ML's genome after their deaths, for it (the capsule) to reprocess again and help them out in this process of 'reincarnation' into a new time-line.

Thus, when one of the Kanta Brothers (Bai/White) ate the egg (which was actually the capsule nurturing both the MC and ML's life) and excreted that out, he misunderstood that he might have laid eggs and brought this good news to his other Kanta brother (Blake/Black). And, with this misunderstanding, the two Kanta brothers ended up raising the two cubs (MC and ML).

[collapse]

The two brothers, albeit not of age to raise children of their own and also not being educated in the field of parenting were able to prove time and again that you don't need to be of age to raise kids. The way these two brothers, who were able to raise the kids; a baby, helpless MC and a chick ML, to adulthood, is something that can even put most adults to shame. And it's this aspect of the novel that I find most fascinating. Just being there, together, as one, in the face of all adversities, and sharing every titbit of happiness, sadness, etc is what means to be a 'family'. It alludes to the fact that "Strength lies in unity". Same goes for when this little family of four, join in a bigger circle of people, who later establish themselves as a 'tribe' and work together on the face of every mishap and ordeal to overcome and stand victorious. Despite the diversities of their nature, they live and work in harmony. It's a rarity to find such a beautiful concept being "trodden-upon" in most NU novels. Usually, this sort of notion is 'glossed-over' or just mentioned in passing. And here we actually get to explore this entire new scope; the journey of two kids fathering two children of their own, trekking the streams, mountains to the other side, finally securing themselves a "home" with members who themselves are in the process of learning the art of survival and coexisting, ultimately establishing themselves as a tribe, working together in the face of all adversities as a group and finally settling themselves at a secure location. In one half we get to see the shenanigans of the tribe members and MC's blood family and on another side we get to see a baby MC and a chick ML working together as a team alongside their small group of lackeys (or should I say MC and ML tagging alongside this group of kiddos as lackeys?).

Well, it's a unique story and not the usual BL and honestly, this won't give you a break at all. Because the side characters and their roles aren't being overshadowed or rather, we get to take a glimpse into the lives of each and every character and get to know their side of the story as well. Its a story worth recommending and taking your sweet time to read.

Spoiler

Also, albeit the... late review (because I had written only half of the review prior to this) I'm really grateful to Amaruna Myu for taking on the job of translating this novel. Since if she didn't do so I wouldn't have come across such a treasure. And honestly, I'm not really good at understanding MTL translations😅😅, but in the novel, MC did find ML's remains in the primitive world, which is a clear indicator that the majority population had already been whipped out in the catastrophe that hit ages ago.. and only the meagre population survived the wipe-out.

Back then when I read the novel, due to some links missing in the Google translated version, I theorised that most probably the capsule (in which the MC took shelter) has the ability to transverse through space-time which made the MC and ML travel back to the primitive era. But, the fact that MC was able to exhume ML's remains after becoming a victim of an earthquake, refutes all the prior conjecture. After reading Amaruna's review I realised this fact that if I were to go by my conjecture, the fact don't add up. Thus, it might have indeed been possible, due to the technological advancements that humanity had achieved, it was bound to get wiped out in a natural catastrophe and the main protagonists were thus, indeed born in the future aka "Primitive era".

None of my reviews have ever been coherent but here goes:

If you've read No afterlife and The Sabbath, this story is similar in that the protagonist and male lead are initially like family and then become a couple eventually in the story. There is more exploration and character interactions at the start of the story, and is a rather slow-paced, relaxing read.

MC and ML are siblings, but definitely not blood related. Their parents are also siblings but not related. This may be a turn off for people who dislike in*est,... more>> but they are not blood related hence I will not consider it in*est.

The story mostly speaks of the characters' lives in this world where everyone starts from primitive, and does not touch a lot on MC and ML's past lives. (Personally I would like to know more on their past tragic love story because there was a part in the story which hinted to it which made me cry)

The author is capable of writing sweet and fluffy interactions, as well as parts which just make you feel sad for characters that you just got attached to, which is rather refreshing to me. (As well as heartbreaking)

From Nao's review above, I would like to input my interpretion of the story:

Spoiler

Instead of MC and ML coming from the future timeline back to the primitive, I prefer to believe that they are actually in the far future when everything was destroyed because of how the world works and everyone starts over from scratch, species evolution and human development-wise. So rather than the two characters travelling back to the past, I would say they went to the distant future, and that their past selves were well, past.

However, this interpretion is from what I MTLed, which may be accurate. I'm hoping that I'll have a better understanding as I translate the story

Rating : 5 ⭐ (MTL, might miss something)

This novel has great world and character setting, as well as an engaging plot. The overall story is very well constructed.

while it's true that this novel failed to leave a deep impression, It does bring me many emotions and a lot of joy while reading it.

Originally, I came here expecting full fluff, but what I got is beyond my expectations. In addition to cute and funny moments, there are also touching, thrilling, sorrowful, heartbreaking and regretful moments, I didn't expect to see... more>> in a (supposed to be) light-hearted novel. The familial love and comradeship this novel presented is absolutely fantastic. It's warm and full of emotions. It's wonderful.

We've got to see the journey of MC and his family, who are in actuality just 4 cubs, from the day the MC and ML was born to the moment when they bacome fathers and raised their own cub. Facing disasters, seperation and reunion. Witnessing the characters' growth step by step. Nothing could satisfy me more.

For the characters, although MC sometimes think like an old man, he is sensible and very loving. He is not omnipotent, either in terms of intelligence or physical strength. The two fathers are great though, they're caring, as well as comical. While the ML is more like a little brother to me to be honest.
Spoiler

I mean.. Yeah he's just a big cub. An adorable cub. 😅 But I really like Louis I tho. The man is so damn heroic. I even cried when I read to the part where he "protected" the MC in both lifes. 😭

[collapse]
The side characters also bring a lot of freshness to the story. They all have different personalities and are very likable. It's really great.

The best thing of this nevel compared to other primitive transmigration novel is that the MC didn't try to change the direction of the natives' lifes, other than introduced/instilled some thinking that is more beneficial to them. I appreciate it very much. <<less

If you read this after reading There Is No Afterlife, hoping to get the stories about Louis I the last kastas emperor emntioned in TINA, well.. You’re not wrong but also won’t get what you hoped. But no worries dear, the author still have charms in weaving her stories borthing her imagination as a different world for us.

TINA’s background is interstellar, while POA is.. Well.. Primitive. Louis I mentioned in TINA is a great emperor, while in POA Louis I mentioned was his clone (reincarnation?) birth in different time due... more>> to space and time capsule, as well as our MC, baldie Meng Jiuzhou. Just like TINA, the auhor’s style is writing about family, no golden finger or great achievement at all here. TINA still have op protagonist, while POA really comedic and heartwarming. The angst is minimal (well, the chapters also less than TINA).

Overall, you have rebirth/transmigration story which won’t give you the cliche about revenge or suddenly improve the whole tribe. You will also laugh reading about the silly yet loving fathers (kantas’s habis or grandpa Meng’s habit stealing egg and cubs really broke me till my stomach hurts). I MTL this one, but hoping for translator do their magic and work on this gem until finished. They really doing a great job! <<less

A lot of things to love about this novel but I have to say, the way it took me on a rollercoaster of a journey about love, family, camaraderie, loss, hope, faith, perseverance, etc. Is perhaps the best thing about reading this novel.

High end of 3 stars because it interested me enough to MTL the rest of the novel. This is a very "steady" novel of life and survival in the new, almost pre-historic world. There's no drama, no love rivals, no maddening in family fights. This novel can easily be considered dull but in the right frame of mind at the right time, this novel was slightly better thanok for me.

It was okay- but nothing more than that. I binge-read this and it was full of fluff, but looking back, there was nothing that particularly stood out to me.

The MC was competent but seemed a bit like a Gary-Stu at times to me. There wasn't a time when I felt he was in critical danger despite the dangerous environment he lived in (and him being a mere human). Luck always ended up saving him.

The ML was adorable but I still don't know how he lost his memories. And how did... more>> the MC and ML know each other in their previous lives?

The side characters were interesting and had their own strengths. However, there were too many side CPs, which is something I didn't enjoy reading.

A great read if you want to read mindless fluff without thinking too much. However, there were quite a few plot holes and things left unanswered.

Spoiler

For example, where did George come from? Is he actually an egg that Louis and the MC laid? Why did Grandpa Meng never turn into his human form? Will Louis ever get his memories back?

Hmmm really unexpected! I just simply came here for fluff, but oh it was way better than I was expecting, 'cause of its great world building.

It's surprisingly an amazing story with a solid foundation and plotline.

I liked this story, at first I thought there will be just fluff Or sweet romance but ohh in it we read about some great examples of friendship, familial love, support, sweet romance and amazing world building.

... more>> It's a great story so are the characters of this story, loved it.

It has enough fluff, sweetness, heartache, sadness and despair of losing someone. I enjoyed reading it.

And the MC and ML their ohh such amazing couple, but there was way too few romance between them, I understand it since it's tag says shounen ai , anyway still a nice story.

I simply liked how black and white took care of ML and MC and then MC and ML taking care of their kids.

It's just romance was a bit lacking or other wise a completely nice read.

I would highly recommend this to everyone, but it's not completely translated yet so I have to read it through raws, it was still quite understandable.

Thanks author for the huge amount of hardwork u put into it.

And the translators plz translate it soon. <<less
