After finishing playing mahjong, Yu Zhou, a recently resigned writer, returned home and found a young lady from ancient times, Xiang Wan, who was a former prime minister’s daughter, sitting on her sofa. After some simple communication, Yu Zhou accepted this “roommate” who had traveled through time with her chūnibyō mind.

On the other hand, Yu Zhou’s novel was adapted into an audio drama, which was unexpectedly performed by the well-known voice actress Su Chang, causing Yu Zhou to be overjoyed yet also in tears, because Su Chang was her ex-girlfriend.

Through their new connections, the girls re-examine their own lives and achieve personal growth. This absurd yet realistic experience may also “pat awake” Yu Zhou’s stagnant love life.

All I can say first of all is...

Damn! I should have read that love triangle tag. 😭 Secondly, not just any generic love triangle, I'm literally struggling between choosing who should be the true FL.

MC's disappointing persona is understandable as you keep reading but I'll be blunt, she's still hella annoying. I'm in it for the future FLs tbh. I'm giving this a 50/50. It makes me want to read it addictively and also makes me want to push this aside because how frustrating it can also be. Overall, shoutout... more>> to TL for the great translation! <<less

I'm almost finished with this story. It's extraordinarily good. I only recently got into reading baihe stories so I'm no expert. What I like about the translation of this particular story is that it's easy to read and understand. I think I read that the translator is a native Chinese... correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it usually a person who is more proficient at English than Chinese who does the translating? Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that the flow of the story is smooth and... more>> there isn't literal translations of words/sayings that disrupt the cadence of the story because how something that is said in Chinese could make perfect sense but when translated to English, might sound a little funny. I really appreciate that!

As for the story itself... it's not a fluff piece with a superficial story line. It does get into the complexities of human beings and their relationships; the flaws we have and how we learn to deal with them. On some level, I could relate and that's what makes reading this enjoyable. I won't get into the intricacies in case I spoil it for others but I will say that the characters have real depth to them and the author did a good job of conveying the minutiae of the daily lives of lesbians (besides the time traveling thing lol). Oh! There's also A LOT of information about audio dramas... I felt like I had a few lessons about this industry! lmao

Big thank you to the translator for doing an excellent job of sharing this story with us and of course, much gratitude to the author whom I wish I could thank personally, if only I knew how to get in touch with her and and know Chinese. ha ha. Thank You! <<less

Big shoutout to the translator for tackling this novel! I once tried using MTL for it and almost fried my brain cells, so I'm extremely grateful for their hard work and dedication.

Despite not being a fan of love triangle plots, I found myself completely captivated by the characters and their journey. The translator has done an incredible job conveying the emotions and humor of the original writing, making it a joy to read.

The translation of the novel is consistently good, and it's clear that the translator has put in countless... more>> hours and attention to detail to ensure the quality. To the translator: thank you so much for your dedication and hard work. Your efforts are truly appreciated.

For anyone looking for a great story to read, I highly recommend checking out this novel. <<less

I'm not a fan of love triangles, so I have scrolled past this novel many times. However, one day I decided to give it a go and I finished it in a day. I didn't really feel like it was a love triangle, more like there were 3 female protagonists. While they both like the main protagonist, it's obvious who the main protagonist likes back.

the writing is one of my favorites. Lucici (the author) really knows how to make a scene that just wants you to scream into your pillow!... more>> I was so captivated yet I also wanted to stop every 3 chapters and rethink my life decisions. It is surprisingly philosophical, with its themes and messages.

overall, I would recommend this to anyone who wants a bit of comedy, cdrama-esque scenes and happy ending. <<less

The majority of baihe novels I have read (the translations of) have not really put the same depth and respect to self-worth and love—in multiple forms—as this novel does.

Things this novel covers such as: Being in love is not enough for a relationship to function well, and healthily, for all parties involved; communication, confrontation, and compromise are necessary. Romantic love is not the only love that should be cherished. Not everyone is gay. Impostor syndrome (or similar) is a b*tch. Et cetera.

This novel is refreshingly grounded and relatable, with a... more>> cast that I just adore. I can see why the MC can frustrate some people, but I know too many giver types like that to judge her too harshly. It is not always easy to be kind to yourself; and in that unhappy headspace, being unkind to others is all too easy, even unintentionally.

The only thing I left this novel questioning was the inclusion of the time travel: it's a bit incongruous in an otherwise-grounded story, but it makes more sense in the context of the sequel.

Overall, this was a wonderful read, and I would definitely recommend if people are in the mood to see people, and relationships, heal and grow and learn rather realistically, in that it is nonlinear and messy—but that makes it all the more beautiful. <<less

As a confessed and adamant hater of love triangles I shouldn't be the person you listen to if you came knowing what this story is.

I'm giving this four stars for a few reasons though, despite the story's many flaws.

The first is because the characterization is excellent and each person is believable on their own. No one's existence revolves solely around another person. They're living, breathing people within the confines of the story.

... more>> The second is because... well... They have problems just like regular people. Insecurities, dislikes, flaws.

Finally, the third, is because I like Xiang Wan. That's it, she's the only person I like. Because....

Spoiler

Just like a lot of love triangles this story only really cares about making the passionate (read: toxic) relationship the true relationship. And it spends a looooooooong time building up the relationship between XW and YZ only to smash it apart and force the two people who were absolutely HORRENDOUS to each other back together.

[collapse]

So that's it. A very well written story completely broken for me because it falls into the terrible trap of a love triangle. I think I've only read one love triangle that really worked well, imo, and that was She Belongs to Me. <<less
