I used to believe that I wasn’t attracting attention because of these ‘high-spec handsome guys’ in my vicinity…

…But wait! Could it actually have been their doing all along?

"For the girls, boys are literally their reason for living"

This quote from chapter 1 pretty much sums up the story. Women in this world are basically a hive mind whose sole purpose is to sexually harass men. Their personalities and lives revolve around men. And the men are frail wimps who shy away from interacting with women. Like... every single one except for the MC. Come on now, I know the author didn't want MC to have rivals or whatever, but with a ratio of 20 women to 1 man... more>> and the men being afraid of girls, how do they even reproduce? Cloning? Where is MC's dad? Does he even have any male relatives?

MC only has two things going for him: 1. He's somewhat muscular. 2. He's 'nice' (meaning he's nice to girls because he wants a harem). Apparently, none of the other men in this world possess those qualities, so by default he's ultra special. MC has the personality of wet cardboard and yet he manages to get a harem simply because the other guys set the bar on the floor. <<less

This novel takes everything that makes gender ratio worlds enjoyable and removes it. There's little to no wish fulfilment or world building, and isn't that why we read these? I want to think about what a lucky bastard the MC is, I don't read them to see a generic romcom. You won't see lots of women wetting themselves because the MC was nice to them. So what is even the point?

The MC is also extraordinarily awful. Part of what makes reverse chastity world novels enjoyable is that the MC is... more>> typically bold and willing to make women happy. In this story we have an MC who constantly talks about wanting to have a harem, and when a girl finally tells him she loves him he doesn't know what to do. He becomes a generic dense protagonist. There's a reason why dense harem protagonists don't work in these types of novels, because it sucks all the enjoyment out of the story. We want to see the protagonist defy gender expectations and make lots of happy women.

I gave the novel 3 stars because it's still a reverse chastity world, and I still enjoy them a lot. This is just the worst one I've read. <<less

So, I've read the first volume of 'No Wonder I'm Unwanted in This Chastity-Reversed World'. And I have to say, the grammar and the translation itself is top notch, I have no complaints about that.

That said, Having finished Volume 1, I have to say this novel so far has somewhat missed the point of the premise. Anyone that's read anything remotely like this before will understand what I mean when they scan through this. A chastity-reversed world, this involves girls that are really into the main character and are usually... more>> very happy to have the main character's attention.

That said, this doesn't FEEL like a chastity-reversed world. The main character isn't popular. This isn't because of his looks or face, in fact it is revealed he is the perfect man. (Cause he's nice to girls and semi good-looking.) Yet, the girls avoid him, even if he is the one approaching them. This isn't one of those 'Ah, I am too awkward to say yes' or anything like this.

Turns out, the main girl, has been trying to get the other girls to back off. How does she do this? So far, it's shown that she 'looks at them with a frown' and 'warns them that they have to steal him from her'. In my honest opinion, that doesn't make much sense. Especially since the main character thinks the main girl is a boy for most of the first volume.

This reads like a normal rom-com, with some crossdressing shenanigan's (in the first volume at least). The main girls wants the main lead to approach 'her', the women around the main lead that he knows (2 named characters so far) act like just regular girls from a normal world. And worst of all, they're actively sabotaging the main lead's goal of getting along with other girls. (The main interest in most chastity reversed worlds is seeing the main character knowingly or unknowingly attract a lot of girls, in my retrospect.)

For that reason, I'm going to skim a bit through the 2nd volume to see if it gets better. Though, my interest has somewhat waned in the actual concept. Because if this reads as a normal rom-com, it's a somewhat boring one.

EDIT: Honestly, the 2nd Volume is somewhat better. Mainly because the author is finally letting the main character interact with other characters. There was also a scene with a creeper woman, which finally shows the true nature of a reverse chastity world.

That said, the main character is a bit of a wimp and really dense. Overall, while the quality improved, I can't seem to say that I would change my rating. It's very tame and somewhat boring to read through.

Again though, translation is great, and I had no issue reading through it at all. <<less
