The return of spiritual energy brought monsters that ran amok, and humans awakened to paranormal abilities.

One day, Qi Yuan was buying groceries when he unfortunately came face-to-face with a monster. Just when he thought he was going to die on the spot, he suddenly heard the monster’s thoughts…

“This aura, he’s definitely not an ordinary master!”

“So terrifying, so terrifying.”

“A fight with my back against the wall, I can’t take it anymore.”

Qi Yuan: Ah, no one told me that my awakened ability isn’t telepathy, but rather the stronger my enemies imagine me to be, the stronger I truly become.

PS: Zhou Hai in the first chapter is not the protagonist.

This is a fun novel as long as you aren't looking for a serious read. It's also short, which means you don't have to worry about various word padding techniques ruining the reading experience.

edit: I was wrong.

A mediocre misunderstanding novel with the twist that the main character's enemies control his powers with their thoughts.

This can create situations where he has to scramble to figure out what his powers are and how best to use them in the given situation. However, the author simply decided to go the lazy way instead.

The MC also has a mind reading ability so he can instantly figure out what everyone around him is thinking. In addition, he has a naturally strong aura largely due to his extreme handsomeness, which you are... more>> reminded of every time he meets someone new.

This ties into the repetitive nature of the plot and writing style. Problems arise, but the authorities' responses are always lacking either in magnitude or speed.

Of course, the protagonist is there to save the day. It makes one wonder how bad it gets when he isn't around. Ah, but don't forget, the author reminds us, it's much worse outside of the Dragon Country! It (China) is still the best place to live!

It wouldn't be all bad if the fights are interesting, but they are unimpressive. Both the variety of the powers and their applications are shallow, much like the rest of the characters.

Everyone is in awe of the MC's handsomeness, his overpowering aura, and the way he waits for his allies to struggle first before stepping in, trigger some misunderstandings about his strength after a few sentences, and finish the fights in an instant.

One positive is that there's no romance or oversexualization of the female characters. In fact, the descriptions are lacking in general, with world building that seem to have been crafted with little thought.

If you want a novel where you turn your brain off and watch the main character steamroll through everything, you may be interested in this. For others, there are much better novels to spend your time reading. <<less

I'm pretty picky, but this one is hitting all the right notes so far.

The protagonist has a calm, dignified type of face and demeanor that makes others misunderstand him as a smart, powerful person who can be relied on. He is actually smart, but his EQ is more lacking than he seems to think. Luckily, he can mind read, but even then he can misread the room. Eventually, and rather quickly, he becomes the powerful person others perceived him to be. A shame most of it comes and goes with... more>> the enemies who imagine his powers, but he retains a bit every time.

Also, there's truly no harem, not even a romance. I was worried when the ponytailed police officer lady was introduced, but it seems there's truly no love interest, and the author is just okay with putting women in strong roles with no ulterior motives. In a novel with a male protagonist, marketed towards men. It's honestly pretty refreshing. The female side characters are treated equal to the male side characters, and I'm loving that.

That niche appreciation aside, it's just fun to read. Not much drama, a couple of good laughs, and pretty decent fight scenes when they happen. Definitely worth a try. <<less
