I, Kyohei Wada, and Maika Ayatsuji, have been close friends since childhood, and I decided I’d confess my feelings for her. However, she let out harsh words such as “I’d never date you,” and rejected me before I could even say a thing.

The next day, another classmate gave me a false love confession, and I was ridiculed by the other girls in class. Despite that, the boys took my side and introduced me to someone else…

This is a story about a boy with low self-esteem and his friends who push him forward. From there, he’ll try to be happy one step at a time.

Quite easy... Straight to the point.

Story is about a back-to-back setback and a genuine friend and a cute girlfriend...

Spoiler

Seems like the childhood friend is a tsundere and take the MC's kindness for granted. She realized too late to understand her heart when she sees MC and GF going on a 'date'... Deserve much ~

I created an account just for this review. I know I'm way too early writing this but this is like the first time where I've read one of these where the characters seemed somewhat normal, at least compared to some of the other similar novels translated by Soafp. The main character seemed like a genuinely nice guy (not a 'nice guy' or a 'woe is me' type of person) that seemed just a bit unlucky with the girls around him. Plus his male friends (at least the main friend Kenichi)... more>> in the first chapter actually stuck up for him like a genuine friend would and didn't start laughing at him like the rest of the girls. Moreover, they all listened to his problems when they went to the karaoke place, helped boost his confidence, and Kenichi even offered to set the MC up with a girl that I'm assuming is going to be much better than the other girls he spoke to.

I've got my hopes up quite high for this one. I'm praying that the main character doesn't turn into someone cringy or start constantly feeling sorry for himself because I'm not sure how to describe it properly but he seemed the perfect amount of upset/annoyed after what happened to him and the author didn't try to egg it on by over dramatising the events or making it seem like it's the end of the world for the MC.

TLDR: He got ridiculed and made fun of by people he genuinely cared about however he isn't gonna let that ruin/control every aspect of his life, which is what I like about it. It would be nice to see how he gets over his shyness or other ways he could improve himself <<less

Surprisingly good.

That was close, Maika was on the road to becoming Yandere when she was starting to be harsh on Wada. So people would leave him alone (Essentially making it so he was basically hers alone). But she caught herself when she realized she did a bad thing and realized her true feelings behind that. But it was too late and he already moved on. The boys really surprised me. What F*ucking Giga Chads for standing up for our boy when the girls falsely confessed to him like that. I think Wada was slightly too forgiving in that case, but she went out of her way to apologize at least and it would've just been a pain in the ass to keep that tense atmosphere in school. So it's better to just let it go. This was a great showing of High-Schoolers become adults. Wada handled that whole thing very maturely and didn't beat around the bush when turning down Maika's true feelings but accepted her as a regular old friend.

It was pure joy to read this.

No unnecessary fillers, no unnecessary misunderstandings.

In the first chapter everything fell apart, and the subsequent chapters were used to bring the whole thing to a happy ending point by point.

I am very impressed with the pace and composition of the whole thing.

Uh. I'll definitely come back to it someday - a great thing to quickly improve your mood.

The story is quite a lukewarm and face paced.

the character is likeable especially Kenichi who came out as your 'ol reliable childhood friend. quite weird he came out suddenly around Kyouhei, but later it's quite understandable because Kyouhei all this time only focused on Maika's wellbeing (poor him)

At the reconciliation talk. kinda agree with Maika on how he's easily swayed, but what is done is done!

Maika's harsh attitude and her rejection!

false confession and Maika's unintentional small laugh is the nail to the coffin.
but for it to easily cut off long time of feeling of love... and easily moving his heart to other cute girl due to their overwhelming kindness.
Kinda forced, but I think in mental age that's quite reasonable coz they're teenagers with short sighted emotion and view.
but for the reconciliation talk to happened so maturely... I kinda didn't dig that.
the usual teenager talk would revolved around their self preseved feelings and would realize and pondering late in the game.
usually they would came to clarity and forgiveness will appear in mind when they reach adulthood. but welp, if the author would solved it that way, it's the author deed.

things in this story is so fast paced that it ends before I could organize my thought about whole things inside it.

The situation is handled really well, but as someone commented on one of the chapters, it's in an awkward in between situation. It neither angst nor fluff, so it's seriously just an ok. There's not much stuff to get excited on, so it's just a passerby read for me.
