ML's wife and him never even slept with each other, they were merely married for "politics". ML did have 2 other gf's, but ended up breaking with them bcz he didn't want children. He saw MC a few times in the past and has been observing her and wanted to save her from her marriage. His mom's past was similar, but much worse. His father cheated on his mother, cheated her of his father-in -law's company as well and later sent her to a mental hospital where she ultimately died. But the worse thing is that ML's mother only saw him as a means to gain her husband's love, who she was obsessed with. For example, she once crushed his hand while he was playing piano, bcz he once got a compliment from his father when he was young and now his father didn't care abt his piano anymore. His father still had some pretences on while his father in law was alive, but barely came home with the excuse of work. And he abandoned all pretences when FIL died. ML's mother still loved him even after being neglected and cheated on. ML hates both men who neglect, use and cheat on women and the women that let themselves be trampled on. He never felt sorry for such women, except MC.

MC's family is a patriarchal family. They used to ask her to give way to her younger brother, they give her toys to her younger brother etc. Once she grows old she is only called and spoken a few words to once her family need money. Her younger brother still has to get married so he doesn't have money to spare, they say.

Her parents visit once to tell her not to divorce the ex and mother seems to have memory problems. To explain the family dynamics: she tells her parents that her mother should have an Alzheimer's examination. The parents dismiss it. She calls her younger brother, who couldn't care less and hangs up bcz he's busy playing video games. But he gets to hear her say it is hereditary, at which point he looks it up online and calls her panicked. The next day her parents decide to take the examination bcz their son called them to do it -_- or else they might not be able to take care of their future grandson (from him I suppose). The mother is found to have Alzhaimer's.

At this point, the divorce is almost finalised. Initially, the ex was very regretful and changed a new leaf to curry MC's favor. But once her finds out abt the Alzhaimer's, he keeps calling her and asking her to take a test to see if she's liable to have it as well. She refuses to take the test, bcz anyway there's no cure for it so it will not change anyhting for her and she doesn't care to get back with ex. He ends up being quite eager to divorce her as well bcz of this and has a new gf. He later calls her one evening drunk saying that his gf is extravagant and inconsiderate, but ML scares him from making another call to her again.

She does the Alzhaimer's test at one point, there was like a 50/50 chance, but she finds out she doesn't have the gene for it, thankfully.

FL's father got tired of taking care of his wife so he calls MC to pay to get her in a nursing home. He says her brother still has to save for his marriage and asks her how much money she got from the divorce (she got some money, a small amount tho). She pays half of the nursing home and her father and brother pay the other half. And that's the last we hear from her parents, which makes me annoyed. She didn't get anything from her parents growing up, all the good things went to her brother, why does she have to keep sending them money?? They care sh*t for her.

MC ofc ends up happy with ML and they have a dog. I wish there were more after stories.
