Sehwa turned his head away as if he didn’t want to deal with them. It was an obvious provocation, an everyday occurrence, but just because he was used to it didn’t mean he didn’t care how they treated him. He knew they were doing it because they want to see him lose his temper, and he didn’t want to be swayed by their provocation, so he just let it slide.

Sakura, Hongdan-i, and sometimes Samwol-i…

He’d told them hundreds of times not to call him by that nickname, but no one listened to the words of a mere creditor, petty hustler, or drug dealer. Still, Sehwa spoke tirelessly every time.

My name is neither Sakura, nor Hongdan, nor Samwol.

Sehwa,
My name is Lee Sehwa.

I think main story should end with chapter 165 with his will to his spouse. I was crying when reading it. How realistically and beauty fully the characters were written and how it closed with Ml's will so beautiful. How lee sanhwa was fighting his depression and how ML said he was like that and still expected to be loved that he was a bastard a monster but wanted to be loved and wanted MC to accept him and how he stoop by his side for forgiveness. Trauma Doesn't go... more>> away easily, in this story how they mended their twisted relationship was portrayed and you can see MC asking himself why he felt empty for this man who hurt him so much and wanted him because this was not normal. But accepted it because in some complicated ways they both knew each other best. <<less

I absolutely loved this story. 10/10.

I’ve never written a review before, but after finishing this novel, I felt compelled to share my thoughts and help new readers appreciate it on a deeper level.

Without giving away too many spoilers, I encourage you to approach this story with an open mind. Try to see beyond the characters’ actions and circumstances—because their journey is complex, heartbreaking, and ultimately, transformative.

... more>> At its core, this is a story about a soldier and a criminal:

• Gi Taejung (ML) —abandoned since birth, raised around guns, and shaped by a brutal life.

• Lee Sehwa (MC) —also without parents, forced into creating drug*s to survive and pay off his debt.

Given their tragic backgrounds, it’s no surprise that their relationship starts off deeply flawed. Gi Taejung, in particular, makes terrible choices—his actions are cruel, and I won’t justify them. But what makes his story compelling is that he genuinely doesn’t know any better.

From the start, Sehwa was nothing more than a tool in Gi Taejung’s mission to take down the villain. That was the plan—until Gi Taejung unexpectedly falls for him. For the first time in his life, he experiences feelings he doesn’t understand, leaving him conflicted. He no longer wants to use Sehwa, but by then, the damage is already done. His actions are inexcusable, and he pays the price. But his deep regret and determination to make things right make his journey so compelling. And as Sehwa himself repeats many times—he does not forget or forgive, but he gives a second chance because he can see that Gi Taejung has truly changed.

Yes, Gi Taejung is absolute tr*sh at the beginning. He hurts Sehwa deeply. But when the truth comes to light—too late, as always—he is willing to do anything to change. His growth, his remorse, and his determination to help Sehwa heal (especially from PTSD, which the story portrays very well) make his journey worth following.

About the Ending:

The main story concludes in Volume 5, but in my opinion, that’s not the real ending. The side stories in Volume 6 are where everything truly comes together, and I urge you not to stop there. Trust me—it only gets better.

Two moments in particular shattered me:

1.
Spoiler

Gi Taejung’s will, written before a combat mission, addressed to Sehwa and their two children. I cried like a baby. It’s one of the most heartbreaking yet beautiful letters I’ve ever read.

[collapse]

2.
Spoiler

The tragic story between Captain Oh Sohran and Sehwa’s biological father. Their past, their sacrifices, and the heartbreaking way their story unfolds completely broke me.

[collapse]

So, to anyone picking up this novel—read it with an open mind. It’s a tough journey, but one worth taking. You won’t be bored, I promise. Just don’t judge too soon, okay?

Happy reading! <<less

People may hate it, people may like it. At the end of the day, it's a story made not to be related, but to enjoy and see from another perspective and experience the characters.

Spoiler

This is the equivalent of AO3 tag of Hurt with comfort. The story starts off intensely strong, showing how much of a tr*sh ML is to MC, well, ML never met MC before. You can't exactly expect ML to be infatuated with his character, the world doesn't really revolves around MC.

[collapse]

WARNING

Spoiler

PLEASE AND PLEASE, do remember that this ML is a character made to have a redemption arc and intense character development!! He is pure tr*sh for a reason! Plot device! He is a psycho and abusive and I won't defend him but this novel isn't for anyone to like. Of course, after chapter 40-50, you'll start seeing his character changing, loving. It may be subtle in text but you'll capture it!

CHARACTERS

1. ML

Spoiler

For a romance, it captures the feeling of characters well! ML is not a normal person with a normal childhood so I wouldn't really understand his mindset, no one does too irl, you can only understand yourself more than what others do of you! I read novels to experience what authors write, to experience the worlds and the characters. I often put myself into their shoes for better and more complex storytelling which made this novel enjoyable for me. I see a lot of cold, psycho and violent ML but this one takes the cup for making me truly understand why.

[collapse]

2. MC

Spoiler

I truly love the MC, in my eyes, he's more than the "soft uke with trauma and debt" trope. He's a character of his own without what defines him. I love reading his train of thoughts, I may not think like him and others may not think like me and that what's makes this novel and plenty of others special! When he breaks down, when he overthinks and opens up, I cheered but sometimes do I wish he was more a little cold to ML in the early chapters for revenge...

[collapse]

If you do read this novel, please read with an open heart, no wild expectations and enjoy the experience (or not). <<less

It’s a good read for now, I don’t know if I’m pretty sentimental overall, but a I’ve cried SO much, not because it’s relatable but you can feel the emotions build up.

The characters are deep and their actions/experiences are well explained, and when they mention cruelty, it’s CRUELTY (you’ll know).

There are multiple POV’s in the novel, so you can see the contrast between relationships (i’m not implying romance, just everything).

It’s interesting how society works in the novel, and how dr*gs can be used for everything, It can reach pretty... more>> much everyone.

For now, I can say that both MC and ML have something in common, they are seeking freedom, and they’ve worked hard.

I’ll update later✨ <<less

whether you'll like it or not solely depends upon your preference. The ML is in the beginning a tr*sh but there is huge character development and a huge redemption arc.

their relationship starts on a precarious note. It was a give and take relationship at first with the ML having the upper hand. The MC was obviously being exploited. He was already living a miserable life and the ML made it even more miserable life.

after the ml's betrayal got exposed, the MC was totally devastated. He was already carrying the ml's... more>> child and it took a tremendous toll on his physical and mental health. He went to coma, couldn't even walk, lost speech, got memory loss.

then the ML let him go when he realised how much his presence was unbearable to the MC. When he finally realised his love for the MC, it was already too late.

the best part is the redemption arc. The MC doesn't forgive the ML easily. They slowly built the relationship from the start. Creating good memories over the wounds inflicted on their lives.

a beautiful beautiful novel. A solid 10/10 <<less

One of the better specimens of this genre. I really enjoyed it. The character development, regret and redemption were so satisfying. And the side stories are really cute!

I'm a fan of Moscareto-nim and read the manhwa adaptation of March but I was hesitant to read the novel.

Well, I'm glad I picked up reading the novel despite the negative reviews from different platforms. It made me bawl my eyes out, I rarely read a well written (in my taste) redemption tropes and I'm glad March is one of the rarity. The pacing of the main's growth was not abrupt but seems realistic.

Ki Taejeong's growth is dang im proud of him. He was so so frustrating and he disappointed... more>> me a lot but how he was able to change that.
Spoiler

not only his action to Sehwa alone changed but also to his subordinates. Fits to that saying that "Love can change a man"

[collapse]

Side stories are not completely happy but focuses on healing
Spoiler

Awww they had 2nd child

The difference from captain to lieutenant general, KTJ really became human. Chapter 165 got me crying, that letter at the end on how much he loves Sehwa and how it revealed that he just wanna die when he was just a combat machine but now afraid of death😭😭

[collapse]

Spoiler

To my favorite General Oh Seon-ran, without you they won't be able to mend things smoothly and start a new book of their life

[collapse]

It's up to you if you want to go though the torments while reading this but as reference it reminded me a bit of Cozy Obsession but March seemed heavily emotional for me. I guess if you want to look at the novel in a diff way, it's like "how can Moscareto-nim change a tr*sh ML into a better person" tr*sh ML being a plot device <<less

I really loved the cover, which shows the seme. And, at first I thought the uke isn't your typical damsel-in-distress. Well, he turned out to be just as much of a crybaby BUT, he's wayyy stronger and got a backbone of steel compared to typical bottoms.

The redemption arc has won me, totally, completely. It's now on par with PRECIOUS THING and SAY A LITTLE PRAYER (manhwa). The seme was BAD and then he became the perfect, best husband? He was just as cruel, in heart, but for his wifey, he... more>> changed too much. I loved Sehwa's parents' story, too. It made me cry too much. I know they'll meet in another world, but in this world, it's all pain and tears.

It's also rare for the bottom to have such a strong backing like Sehwa had, his father, Oh Seonran. I loved, LOVED, how Oh Seonran protected Sehwa. Daddy didn't miss a beat to beat the sh*t out of seme when he realized Sehwa had been forced and hurt by seme. I love and believe in that kind of parenting.

The story grew on me. I miss it already even though I finished it not a week ago. I really loved it too much. It exceeded my expectations and gave me a wonderful time. I highly recommend it, guys! <<less

First of all, I am a big fan of green flag characters and wholesome novels. I usually dislike toxic novels and tend to give them very low ratings. Despite this, something about this novel just resonated with me. I notice my attitude shift as I find myself somewhat understanding the toxicity to an extent.

For the ML, it's apparent from the start that he'll be a red flag towards our MC. I mean, he ... more>>

However, I can somehow justify his actions during this time because he is a soldier, while MC is a drug dealer/ user, etc. He sees MC as a criminal who works for the enemy, so he has no problem using/abusing him.

However, even if I understood some of his actions, his

were unforgivable, especially because during this time, he already fell for MC. I truly hated him and wanted him out of MC's life. I never expected him to change, but he did—organically. He completely did a 180 with his behavior and extended this change to others around him. At this point, he felt so genuine I couldn't believe this was the same man from the earlier chapters. Honestly, some of his thoughts and actions made me cry and feel proud (though I still hate him).

The MC, our sweet, kind MC. He was so unfortunate living in that hellhole. Being used, experimented on, and betrayed. Even when he finally fell in love for the first time, he still suffered greatly. I honestly think he suffered more with ML compared to before they met, but it's also true that he felt happier when he was with ML. My heart just broke for him all the time. He's seriously too kind for his own good. He's smart and can stand his ground when the situation calls for it, but he's just out of options. He was so broken because of ML. That's why I was so happy when ML finally let go.

I love the fact that when they finally started healing, ML's actions was not swept under the rug, that even after years have passed, he is haunted by what he did to MC. This actually showed how persistent trauma is. I'm glad the MC is happy, despite all those horrible memories, he continued to heal and became a stronger person. <<less
