A zombie virus has spread in peaceful Seoul.

Korea has named zombies ‘Meogbo/Eaters’, and after a struggle, they fail to eradicate the meogbo.

– Fellow Koreans, on September 30, our government and Seoul decided to give up the Korean Peninsula.

– Come to Jeonnam.

– The military is waiting at Mokpo Port, Mokpo, Jeollanam-do.

– Fellow citizens. Let’s all meet alive.

Shin-hu: a blunt bodyguard from special forces.

Tae-baek: a boss who is playful and has a cold face with a weak stomach .

Tae-baek to live, Shin-hu to save Tae-baek,

Together, the two navigate a world of chaos.

“If you think your life will be in jeopardy while saving me, then leave me. I don’t want to go there.”

Tae-baek, who tried to speak calmly,

“I won’t leave you alone. No matter what happens, I won’t leave.”

Shin-hu responded with his distinctive calm tone.

The two grow closer as they spend time together.

Tae-baek discovers the tenderness hidden in Shin-hu’s indifference, Shin-hu soaks in Tae-baek’s reckless affection.

“Do you like me? I think I will fall in love in a few days. I get that feeling.”

“…”

“And maybe, you will love me too.”

Tae-baek proudly confesses his love, while smiling like a boy who had just started his first love.

Shin-hu chuckles without answering.

‘Eaters’ flocked around these two.

Don’t die, don’t give up, Let’s all meet alive.

I don't typically do well with long novels (221 chapters is long for me;;;) but I binged this one in a few days; it's good and did what it needed to, for a zombie apocalypse romance. I hope someone picks it up!

Plot follows a chaebol (seme) and his new bodyguard (uke) as they navigate S. Korea to reach the designated port where the safety point is. For an apocalyptic setting, there's a really good balance between the zombie plot and romance. Plot aside, the romance is really the strong point.... more>> It develops naturally and (thank god) there are no dumb and prolonged conflicts or misunderstandings between the protagonists.

Neither of the leads are dumb or helpless and need the other to hard carry them. They're actually really kind and affectionate to each other and I feel like they do quite a lot of (consensual) love-making and kissing for a zombie apocalypse... lmao, I ain't complaining though.

tldr; I definitely recommend it if you like apocalypse bl <<less

Ok, I'm not a person who gives up easily on a reading. I usually end up reading it against my will and force myself to finish it so as not to be unfair to the novel. But I just can't take it anymore. I dropped it right here (chapter 66).

In 66 chapters (1/3 of the story) this novel failed to grab my attention with absolutely ANYTHING.

The characters, the plot, the worldbuilding (apocalypse settings), the action/tension, the romance, the humour, the writing... everything in this novel tastes like unflavored gelatin. The... more>> only really good part of the novel is the first 20-30 chapters (until they leave ML's apartment).

The protagonist and ML: I couldn't care less about them. They never had a shred of development, we don't really know who they are and they are as dimensional as a sheet of paper. I can't even feel like they are people in a story.

They absolutely DO NOT seem like their age. The 32 and 28 year olds look more like 20 and 18 year olds and it's frustrating as hell. Every time the story reminded me of their real ages I was like "what?????? Oh yeah... true". At first they did act according to their ages and everything, but after a while, when the romance started to happen, they simply go back to being teenagers. And this isn't just in the romance, but in their actions.

One positive point is: at least they're not those morons from apocalypse movies who go around trusting anyone just because they're nice. They have a logical reasoning regarding basic survival. At least this novel got that right.

The romance: If there is a term like slow burn, this novel is the complete opposite. The ML OUT OF NOWHERE turns in a chapter and goes "wow, he's hot... I like him ^v^". More random than that is the MC after the kiss. Like, I can understand the ML, given his character, but the MC, who felt nothing, suddenly starts loving the ML as soon as they kiss???? It almost seems like some chapters of the development of their relationship were erased.

I don't mind it being fast-burn, but what happens here is just laziness and impatience to develop chemistry between the characters.

And think of something that makes no sense at all. These are their flirting scenes. They are in a middle of a damn apocalypse, with less than 30 days to evacuate to the other side of the country and all the ML thinks about is f*cking the MC. They may be in the most dangerous place in the world, but they will find a way to start making out out of nowhere.

I'm not kidding.

Spoiler

They were kidnapped, sedated, sent to a really weird place, after the MC GETS RUN OVER BY A LITERAL CAR, so they logically start coming up with a plan to escape since it could be really dangerou- uhh why they taking off their- WOW OMG WAIT THEY ARE F*CKING?????

[collapse]

Oh, and remember, they're 32 and 28 years old, one of them is a special forces veteran.

Ugh I just can't take this sh*t seriously.

They can be kinda cute sometimes, but in the overall it's just so bland because of the insta-burn.

The main couple: And of course, the MC as a 'bottom' is the bottomfication of BLs, but the power bottom version.

(God I hate these BL classifications, since I think they summarize well-written characters as 'the guy who f*cks' or 'the guy who gets f*cked' as if people were just that, but in the case of this novel, there are no well-written characters here so...).

The 32-year-old guy manages to be more of a virg*n than Mary. He's never even thought about self-pleasure. Like, the guy's never tried some kind of self-pleasure? At 32 years old, he's never shown the least A BIT of curiosity? I'm an as*xual and I've been at least curious about my own body, and you want to tell me that this 32 year-old guy didn't have the slightest bit of curiosity in his entire life? Living among so many men, I'm sure he must have heard several stories, and still nothing? It's hard to believe that he's not a 16-20 years old teenager.

He's a former special forces captain, who's been on several battlefields, and doesn't have very defined muscles because coincidentally his body can't maintain muscle mass. He's relatively short and has a pretty face. While ML is a normal citizen who's super muscular with abs and everything just because he goes to the gym every now and then.

Wow, the story is totally not trying to maintain a heteronormativity here... nooooo that's definitely not it....

Besides, he's the one who's ML's emotional support, the one who gives him a hug/kiss when ML is feeling down and needs motivation. Think of a bottom 'role', this is our MC post-kiss.

And of course, if we have our well-defined bottom, we also have our well-defined top. While the MC is the super virg*n, the ML is the experienced guy, with men and women and, obviously, a d*ck as big as his horniness. The guy literally has to have custom cond*ms made because the conventional ones are too small for his kaiju dick.

Ugh it's sooo tiring.

He's a super golden retriever for the MC and likes to spoil him to the extreme. The MC's smile is rare and lights up the ML's life and blah blah blah.

The two are so personality-free that I can literally only refer to them as "the strong bottom and the childish top" in my head. That's their identity. I finished this yesterday and can't even remember their names.

The only positive point about them as a couple is that they're both green flags.

Plot: The plot is so meh. The virus came, the zombies started, they go out to seek refuge with the government. That's it. There's nothing in between. They encounter hordes of zombies every now and then, escape and get back on the road.

Now they've
Spoiler

encountered some kind of weird cult,

[collapse]
but it's as intriguing and innovative as tap water.

Could the plot get more interesting later on? I doubt it, but I won't be unfair either, maybe some miracle will happen, Idk. All I know is that after 66 chapters I don't give a damn about this plot and I don't even want to force myself anymore to keep reading this thing to see if this miracle happens.

Worldbuilding: The zombie apocalypse setting is extremely weak. I never felt like they were really in real danger after the first 30 chapters of the novel.

And how, HOW was the army unable to deal with these weak zombies??? Dude, they don't use their arms, they're slow, they don't jump/climb, they're s*upid and it's extremely easy to lure them into traps.

The protagonists literally
Spoiler

killed hundreds of them by themselves with a poorly-made explosion

[collapse]

and you're telling me that the Korean army can't gather the zombies in one place and send a missile to a restricted area? So they decide to

Spoiler

BOMB THE ENTIRE KOREA ? ? ? ?

[collapse]

Just how USELESS is this army? Literally, you just have to stay on the high ground and the zombies won't get you, HOW did thousands of soldiers even die in the field????????

And another thing,
Spoiler

not even with all the world's support possible would they be able to rebuild all of Korea and reestablish themselves economically that easily.

[collapse]

This government is so useless that I think a 10-year-old child could be a better representative than these guys.

At first it does seem like a reasonable decision, after all it's for the sake of the rest of the world... until we see how pathetic these zombies are.

The only positive point of this worldbuilding, which I actually liked a lot, is that the zombies are very different, pathetic, but different. At least the author took the time to use a little creativity.

The writing: The scenes have terrible continuity at times. In one line, the character is lying down leaning against the door frame, then literally in the next line he is already sitting on the couch. Would it be hard to say that he walked in, straight to the couch and sat down? Or put a '...' to show a cut in time?

The moments of tension didn't manage to engage me at all, I'm not sure if it's the writing's fault or if the zombies are too pathetic. The only time I felt a little bit of tension was
Spoiler

when they were leaving the apartment at the beginning and the encounter with the first zombie (before the apocalypse actually began).

[collapse]

I have been more thrilled by synopses than this novel.

The characters:..... LOL there are no side characters until chapter 60.

It's literally 60 WHOLE chapters of MC and ML (and they are still bland as hell). And when characters finally appear, they don't even have names. They are literally referred to as 'the fat guy', 'the student', 'the guy with glasses', 'the redhead', 'the old man'. Oh, there are two sisters in there too, but they practically have the same name. As if it couldn't get even more lame.

When the novel doesn't even bother to name its characters, you can already see how much it cares about developing them.

Again, I'm not going to be unfair, since I didn't read it until the end, I have no clue what will happen to them
Spoiler

one of them died in less than 2 chapters lol

[collapse]
or if they will actually have any shred of development, sometimes miracles really does happen I guess? But by the way this novel has been written so far, I can kind of imagine that it won't lead to anything either.

And it's hilarious
Spoiler

how COINCIDENTALLY the sisters took archery lessons and are perfect at it. Both of them. They can hit headshots with ancient bows. In a single attempt. In moving targets.

And when the ML finds a sword. Guess what. Yes, he knows how to use it like a professional, because, GUESS WHAT... YES HE ALSO TOOK CLASSES.

[collapse]

This novel is so absurd that makes me laugh.

I've read silly novels, you know the ones that are just for fun? So, I've read silly novels with more logic than this one.

Now, just so you don't say I'm slamming it, there are things I have to praise:

    • It had a good start.
A very good introduction to the zombies and a good transition from a peaceful world to the beginning of chaos. Even the preparation period for them inside the apartment was very well done.
Spoiler

The population not respecting the authorities, thinking it's fake and going out into the streets (COVID vibes) was very well thought out.

The way the news became increasingly alarming as time passed: starting with the helicopter crash, then bear attacks, then several victims of that bear, the internet going down to contain the chaos, the detection of the virus itself, and finally the declaration of a state of emergency.

[collapse]
All of this gave a sense of immersion in the story. Which lasted until they actually embarked on the adventure.

    • The MC and ML had personalities at the beginning.
They had mysteries and pasts that seemed interesting. ML's mysterious illness, the reason for MC's dismissal. I was really curious to find out more about them, but they just threw that away. I don't know if they will bring this back later on, but at this point of the novel I just really don't care anymore. Their dynamic was really good too, until the insta-burn and the kiss happened.

    • And, as I said before: MC and ML have really good survival instincts, they are green flags and the zombies are out of the ordinary.
Apart from that, this story is a big meh that didn't even serve to pass the time. It's amazing how a novel with so many things that I love managed to disappoint me so much.

But I don't know, try reading it and make your own conclusions. Who knows, you might like it? After all, it's not complete garbage, I just wish I hadn't invested so much time in it. <<less

i feel like the rating for this should be higher,

apocalyptic settings are not my go to, but this one really grabbed me, I wanted to wait a little before leaving a review so i'll probably update this in the future~

so far I like the pace of the story and I can feel how the relationship is starting to develop, of course it's under special circumstances since they barely interact with other people if at all, but it doesn't feel rushed or forced. Their first kiss was really *chef's kiss*

At... more>> the point I'm at now everything has been consensual and I sure hope it stays that way (but there hasn't really been explicit scenes yet so;;;)

The horror aspect isn't that gruesome or terrible like I was expecting, at least up to the point I'm reading. Really, what shines in the story so far are the main characters and how they deal with the situation of the virus, and their inner feelings (like death *cough cough*) <<less

There are times when it made me anxious like in the movies, where there's like a threat and the main character must do something.

You can see how they bond, why they fell for each other. The road they must take is very dangerous not only because of the zombies but also because of other humans as well. It's quite smutty too, sometimes I question if that is appropriate at this time of danger, like when you're kidnapped together or something.

I haven't completely read it yet then forgot. Seeing this here,... more>> I might read it again. <<less

Ah, Really went through so much.

I feel like this is one of those novels that I would definitely recommend and talk about how entertaining it is despite its flaws. Mainly because of how captivating and exceptional the writing is.

PLOT:

Like mentioned in the description, the main plotline is just the two main characters heading to Mokpo so they can leave the soon-to-be bombed Korea, while it sounds simple enough, the journey is so well written with amazing imagery even if it was quite easy at the start, the anxiety thickens... more>> the more you read when you realize just how much of a threat these mukbos are.

ROMANCE:

This is actually one of the points I had a qualm at the start about, I didn’t really think it was rushed or anything, I felt it was alright in terms of pacing but when it came to timing.. How do I say this? Initially I felt that it was too excessive, almost out of place but as I kept reading, I changed my mind.

Mainly because I realized just how much this love mattered. It wasn’t just simply about finding an outlet to release desires but how it changed Shinhoo, how it changed Taebaek, how it simply made these two characters come alive, it made me think— yeah. That’s right, these two men who crave love more than life itself, is it so wrong to kiss every 5 minutes?

CHARACTERS:

Actually, this one was my biggest issue haha. I love my Taebaek and Shinhoo, they’re really well written characters, especially Shinhoo but I just felt that it was a bit inconsistent from the start.

I feel like the author had a different idea in mind at the start of the novel regarding Taebaek’s personality but changed it later on, It’s not a big change it anything, it’s just a subtle feeling you know?

Either way, there’s not much to say, these two really made me cry. I really love them, they make the novel come alive.

I highly recommend this read. One of the best korean novels for sure. <<less

🌟 My review 🌟

I just finished this novel and... I'm not okay. In the best possible way. 🥹

This story completely stole my heart and left it in pieces; then it gently put it back together again.

Set in a brutal zombie apocalypse, it follows a younger rich, soft-hearted top (Taebaek) and an older ex–special forces soldier turned bodyguard bottom (Shinhoo) as they fight to survive the zombie outbreaks that suddenly happened in Korea. What starts as a desperate struggle quickly becomes a breathtaking love story — two... more>> souls finding warmth in each other while the world around them crumbles.

Their relationship is everything: green flags all around. No toxic drama, no unnecessary angst (jk.. there's angst, lots of angst but you'll survive. Promise!) — just two people who love fiercely, protect relentlessly, and carry each other through hell and back. The way they shield one another from both the undead and the cruelty of the world is so beautiful it hurts. This passage/scene in particular, struck me to the core and I can't stop crying:

Spoiler

Had this misfortune been the result of wrongdoing, they might have accepted it as just punishment or at least felt regret. But it was a mistake born out of good intentions, and that made it all the more unjust.

[collapse]

But even so in chaos, they still choose each other over and over.... 🥺💗

Spoiler

"If I were still a soldier, I'd probably give up everything to help them. But I'm not a soldier anymore-I'm Taebaek's partner. You're more precious to me than anyone else. Even if they die of unavoidable circumstances, as long as you live, that's all that matters. Harden your heart."

"Hyung..."

"So I hope you, too, can become a bit selfish. At least until we get to Mokpo, put your safety above all else... please."

Taebaek glanced at Shinhoo and then looked back at the road. A slight smile crept onto his face. It was surprising how just a few words from Shinhoo eased. his restless heart.

[collapse]

More spoilers:

Spoiler

Shinhoo was simply extraordinary; Taebaek didn't need to step in. When he did try to take the initiative, he worried about causing trouble. After all, he had only ever studied economics and business, skills that were useless in this world.

Shinhoo looked intently at Taebaek, then gently stroked his handsome cheek.

"Taebaek-ah

"Yes."

"No matter what you do, you're lovable."

"...."

"Even if you sat here and cried like a five-year-old, saying you're too scared to go on and begging for a piggyback ride, I'd still think you were adorable."

"... Really?"

"Of course. It's not just you who really, really likes me, right? I really, really like you too. So why would you worry?"

Don't worry about needless things. Shinhoo pulled Taebaek's hand and kissed his cheek, smiling bashfully. Taebaek gazed at him, spellbound.

[collapse]

I'm obsessed with how their journey unfolds. Every chapter had me on edge, heart pounding from the danger yet melting from the tenderness they share. Their growth, trust, and unwavering devotion are just... perfection. It's rare to find a couple this powerful yet this soft with each other...

Honestly, I never liked zombie stories before. I've tried a few (because friends recommended them), but none of them stuck with me like this one did. This novel turned me into an emotional mess in the best way possible: a 'fun' rollercoaster of heartbreak, nerve-wracking suspense, and heartwarming moments. I laughed, I cried, and I fell in love right alongside them.

And that ending?
Spoiler

That simple, beautiful promise to survive and meet again... (happy ending btw)

[collapse]
I'm going to miss them so much. 🥲

I already want to reread it a few more times — it's that good.

💀🧟‍♀️✨ This is the only zombie apocalypse novel I've ever fully read, and I'm so glad I gave it a chance. It deserves so much more hype — if you want a gripping plot, emotional depth, and an overpowered yet wholesome couple you can wholeheartedly root for, this is the one. A masterpiece 10000/10 must read! 💚 <<less

I did abandon this novel at chapter 54. At the beginning it was OK and brought a kind of appropriate depressing air with it, but became pretty annoying.

Other Reviews emphasize how "real" the characters would be and that they would not do s*upid things, but that is not true.

I feel like the behavior of MC and ML are forced. The writer put the lable "Special Forces" on MC but his behavior doesn't seem like it? The whole background of the character is not there.

Also, the whole apocalypse backdrop... more>> is sketchy. I mean, the way they almost never encounter anyone and do not need to rummage for food...

This novel is boring and couldn't draw me in.

It got worse when the "love" story started. Doesn't feel like Love. More like a h**ny Teenager with Suspension Bridge Syndrome and a depressed Puppet.

I will most likely not read this novel any further and would not recommend it. <<less

I love apocalyptic setting. And if it's a apocalyptic setting without rebirth, transmigration to a book and hoarding food all the better. I feel that when you know how the things going to happen in future as in most of chinese bl zombie nobels, it reduce the excitement and horror and trill of reading. This book tick all the boxes. The beginning was very logical and described the chaotic situation in the beginning of a zombie breakdown. So far I liked the characters of MC and ml. I am genuinely sad that the world is not ready for a BL zombie apocalypse movie. I really loved this story.

I think the pacing is really well done from the beginning when things start to feel off through their journey to the safe port.

It felt like a really good mix of action, tension, and romance. I know some reviewers felt the romance was sudden, I did not. I thought there was enough hinting, though I will admit when it turns up, it turns UP. But it felt consistent with the... more>> MLs personality.

I really enjoyed it. If you like zombie stories and BL, you will probably enjoy it too. <<less

I unfortunately dropped this novel. The beginning was really good and full of potential. But I just could not feel invested in the story. I usually read slow-burn, so I was honestly surprised and kinda put off by how fast everything was developing. I didn't feel much chemistry between the characters, but to be fair I didn't really get that far. My least favorite part of this novel is probably the zombies, they are certainly interesting, but they weren't scary or intimidating at all. They can't move their arms, they... more>> are slow as hell, I felt like the layers of sharp teeth was a cheap scheme to try and make them scarier but failed. From chapter 44, the characters didn't really seem consistent at all and the romance felt forced. I have read plenty of campy zombie novels that don't take themselves seriously, and I enjoyed those more than this.

don't take my word seriously. You might like it or get way further than me, but this is as far as I think I can go. <<less

The one time I went into a novel for the smut and was annoyed when I got the smut. It wasn't well done imo. Why did the ML fall in love so abruptly. By the time they get to safety they've known each other for maybe 3 weeks and were already profusely declaring their love for each other and wanting to live/die together.

It's a story set during a zombie outbreak so you'd expect it to be tense and engaging.... it wasn't. I appreciate the author's attempt at a plot but... more>> while the characters didn't have an easy journey everything was too convenient. This is a nice story but I think main plot of the story is romance instead of Apocalypse. The Zombies are their just for the sake of developing Romance which author conveniently used whenever he feels like

Spoiler

First of all MC (shou) is 32 years old retired special military officer and ML (gong) is a NICE chaebol.

In relationship and otherwise daily life MC is more mature than ML who is like a younger brother sometimes and sometimes a scared and lost puppy.

The main thing I dislike is how author executed the action part of story.

MC was called by his former senior to reprt back to army as the only way to stay alive still when people were told to stay at home and gov will solve everything. MC followed those arrangments and stayed and ml's house despite knowing how grim the situation was.

    1. Even if you believe in gov you should know that despite your compliance with gov other General public won't comply. Situation was bound to escalate from beginning yet they stayed at home for demise.
    1. Then nobody came to meet them even from the same building? Why? Aren't people scared? Why aren't they trying to gather with other people so that in time of need they can have some assurance or maybe use others as meat shield?
    1. One of the most absurd thing.
      Four days passed

      And then

Four more days passed while they were in there penthouse. No that's not how it happens You are asking me to believe that nobody contacted them and nobody attacked them????

    1. When gov announced that they have abandoned Korean peninsula and MC and ML decided to leave for safety in the morning. They only encountered a family while leaving at start after that they were alone and encountered no one? No matter what there should be people somewhere scared or traveling, running away from Zombies but it's like they are the only people alive in the whole city.
    2. But I really love how romance was executed
    1. It's 3.8/5 for me.

My two fav genres at the moment are bl romance & zombies. I’m very picky, especially zombies. I liked this novel & for once I didn’t find the plot or action interfered with the romance. In fact I wanted more. This novel has some standardish stuff for an Asian romance but is unique enough to not feel like a trope fest. The ML isn’t completely unique, being the younger obsessive puppy dog type, but he’s well fleshed out and feels more real than a lot of ml’s. MC the stoic,... more>> quiet type isn’t unique either but it’s prob one of my fav bl MC archetypes Also not completely cookie cutter. The smut doesn’t read like it was written by someone who’s never had s*x either lol. It does get a bit long but it’s decent. I don’t really care about smut as it’s so often boring bc of the way it’s written. I was lowkey a s1ut in the past so I pick up on unrealistic stuff. I roll my eyes at flowery prose, but also when it seems the author is trying to hard to make the smut “hardcore. But I also lost most of my s*x drive so it just doesn’t do much for me anymore. But I can appreciate this was pretty well done. Excellent compared to most Asian smut scenes. Overall there were times when I wished there was more of certain parts & it’s not perfect (at least for me) but it’s a good book. I think if you like a bit of horror & like well written smut that doesn’t feel like it was written by a virg*n, you’ll like this book a lot. Also it’s funny right when I was thinking they’d made a good verse couple, the ML offered. Anyways solid book. <<less

This is a great zombie apocalypse story. The BL part is just icing on the cake. The author really excels at world building, writing action scenes, and creating a riveting horror environment. And the smut, ugh, it was so so spicy I needed a glass of milk.

The characters are really polarizing. You're either going to love them or hate them. In such a gruesome and bleak setting, the ML has a lot of off the wall and side-eye worthy lines, but he offsets the depressing atmosphere. Yes, they fall in... more>> love quickly, but honestly, I would have had hearts in my eyes for the MC too. He's so kick ass and capable, but he's very practical whereas the ML balances him by having a lot of emotional intelligence and charm. I like to think of the MC being the brains and the ML being the heart. He's like a big goofy golden retriever.

I agree with other reviews that the romance feels odd. Sure they make out while there's a corpse next door, but it's just the world they live in. The author's take on romance is... interest. It always feels oddly interjected. Their conversations are down right weird and awkward sometimes. That was the only thing I had an issue with and the sum of all its parts still made the book a great read. <<less

I've read until chapter 137 (for now) and almost reached the ending so far I think the world building is good. For the relationship between MC and ML I think it's somewhere between fast-to-slow burn development. As someone who likes to read apocalypse type of bl manhwa, this novel is one of my favourite.

To be honest I don't understand what's wrong with the 'honest' bad reviews this novel received like you read not even reached the mid or at least the end of the chapter and complained about how bad... more>> it was?

Ml: Taebaek is definitely your typical golden retriever where he fell head over heels for MC and yes, sometimes he can be pe*vert and shameless because even in dangerous situation, he shamelessly flirting with MC.

Mc: Shinhoo is the type of oblivious but not so naive towards ml. Why? Because he took his job as a bodyguard a lil bit too serious sometimes put himself in danger just to rescue and protect ml. But once you dig deeper into his character you will notice that he started to open up to him and noticed how shameless and flirty ML is. But sometimes MC is shameless too (iykyk)

Btw they both are FREAKY AF. In dangerous situation, they sometimes kiss and if not kissing, they flirt. Their s*x scene is also hot af and you can see how 'addicted' MC really is to Taebaek.

Overall, the world building is good but there are some part that I think it doesn't have enough explanation or detail but I think it's good so far.

So my advice please don't trust too much good and bad reviews you see here because most of the time people wrote based on how they feel. Give yourself a try. <<less

Easily became one of my favorite novels. Binged read this in 3 days.

MC is such a badass. He's One of the best ukes I've ever read. And the ML is adorably charming. The apocalyptic setting staged their romance and I like how the flow is natural. Everything is consensual and both are such green flags.

Their survival decisions are all logical as well. No insane "I will go alone" that you often see in horror movies.

The whole novel is quite thrilling. It's just one disastrous event after another that as a... more>> reader you had to take a breath for them. I could clearly see this playing out as a tv series. The zombie take on this one is quite unique as well.

Plus+ on character development especially with MC.

(I just found that there's a manhwa. Yeeeees.) <<less

People who have read a lot of zombie apocalypse stories can probably predict the ending for the main characters somewhat, as I have.

Spoiler

Our ML is only wounded on his leg (not by the mukbos) and our MC turns out to be--surprise! Immune to the mukbos, because of some medicine or whatever experimental drug that he got injected with while he was in the special forces.

[collapse]

I feel that our two leads may be too OP for this setting lol. The only ever encounter they had that felt like a real threat was

Spoiler

the delusional church cult that worshipped the mukbos and sacrificed people to them.

[collapse]

After they got out of that one, every other encounter felt like hardly a threat at all. Fellow humans are always the greater threat in these stories, because you can just shoot mindless zombies to oblivion but humans are a little trickier to deal with. But here... yeah. The humans after the first encounter were hardly worth noting.

Anyway, I enjoyed the action scenes, MC being badass like all the time, and ML leveling up his mukbo-fighting skills.

Spoiler

MC was OP from the very beginning even with few weapons, while ML, although level 1 (lol) had TONS of guns and even a sword. As mentioned, he levels up on the fighting front after initially being queasy about the mukbos. And thereafter they were both massively OP lol.

[collapse]

I still enjoyed the action scenes, and I am looking forward to seeing all of it on the manhwa adaptation.

As for the romance...

Spoiler

while I can believe ML fell in love that easily with his attractive bodyguard who's just so good at saving him and keeping him safe all the time, I'm not wholly convinced at the shift in MC's feelings. It felt a little too sudden for me, and the cheesiness that followed once they've confirmed their feelings made me pause reading for a little while because I just couldn't believe it lol. I continued once I've learned to suspend my disbelief.

[collapse]

Regardless of my feelings, I still enjoyed the ending of the main story, and was relieved once they finally got out of the whole ordeal.

The side stories were just fine.

Spoiler

ML dealing with PTSD (taken too lightly in my opinion), vaccine scare, our leads being too cheesy with each other (cringey, but whatever lol), using drugs during s*x (freaky and nasty as one reviewer said), and them living a somewhat normal life after the ordeal.

This was a nice one. I don't usually deal with such long chapters count anymore, but I just took this on a whim. It's my first ever apocalypse novel to finish—because I'm not a fan of the genre but I was pleasantly surprised, I liked it.

Interesting characters, healthy relationship with love and respect, mutual longing and loving, compatible partners that are helpful to each other. The ML and ML were smart and also had reasonable character development.

I don't know how novels under such disaster genre works, but I liked how... more>> realistic their struggles was, even though an average human may not have survived to that extent and they had helpful props, the two did well.
Spoiler

Even at the end when our MC was bitten, I didn't care if the save would be cliche or unreasonable, I just wanted him to survive, and he did; with a reasonable reason too, that signalled how much thought the author put into the connecting plot.

[collapse]

I didn't like all arcs, especially the religion cult, and I thought their assistance to others were unnecessary sometimes but later on, it shows that the author didn't let most help they gave out to be wasted, they also got it back.

I felt the extras should have been more episodic with not much mention of the Mokbos too, but it was okay too.

The couple is nasty, there's plenty of smut🤭 Powerful pair. Loved them.

A well written one with an excellent translation 👍 <<less
