Simply put, this novel is quite masosistic, both for MC and readers.

Seriously, there are system genre here, so I'm sure majority of readers will expecting quite an OP MC right?

But noooo... MC is so miserable here. He possessed low cultivation talent, but his system has almost give no help aside from give a status screen for MC. Even the only way for MC to obtain an attribute point was masosistic as hell:

Every small realm only give MC 1 attribute point even though MC need years in order to upgrade this small realm, while other characters with average talent at most only need a year.

Aside from this MC also able to obtain an items from Underworld to obtain a free attribute point, but here MC also always being hunted like a dog by cultivators who possessed cultivation 1 or 2 big realm higher than MC

In the several hundreds early chapters MC had been seriously bullied by those with higher cultivation because of his low talent.

The only saving grace here is MC's system able to made MC possessed high talent in array formation, so he was able to equip his men with high grade equipment to protect him and his family, but even so MC still in a thin ice because he will be screw if a cultivator with a big realm higher than him attack because they covet MC's possession (MC had no backing for quite some time).

It truly is a disappointment for me since I like other works from this author such as Way of the Devil, Wizard World, and Nightmare's Call. All this novels always give me a chill since they were accompanied by horror elements. The game system just made it perfect for me since it give MC a higher ground when he competed with others (though I see no such thing in this novel). <<less

Yeah, I've been read the series thill chapter 775 before I dropped it since it became quite boring, all in all the series was pretty ok all along the way but it became pretty boring later on, read the series only if you have nothing better to do.

So let's start w the beginning, the MC's system gives him something similar to an RPG status where you can put the points in certain attributes (like adding one point to strength, dex, etc), he gets the point by having a minor breakthrough... more>> in his cultivation realm or by getting demon seeds or any demon artifacts, all in all, his system is quite frustrating especially at the beginning where the MC is abused so much by basically everyone.

The early part of the series was quite unique and quite interesting, you know how in most series the MC is in general pretty op or at least decently strong, well here the MC has 0 aptitudes towards cultivation and has to use other means of advancing in cultivation which ends up w him being tortured in the worst possible ways, it's the first time when I saw a Chinese MC get tortured and abused so badly. This early part can become quite off-putting for most people.

The middle part isn't that much better either, it becomes somewhat better but now by that much, tbh w you, I found this part quite boring, while the latter part of the series becomes even more boring, the series becoming a kingdom building series of sorts (to advance further in the immortal realm one has to create his own realm and make that realm powerful), this is when the series becomes very boring.

Have you ever seen those very bad romance serial dramas on tv, that one aunt or granma of yours like to watch, like those cringy lvl Bollywood dramas? Well, that's the quality of the romance in this series, a very very shitty romance drama serial that no one likes. This is probably one of my biggest complaints w the series, imo the series even without romance would have been perfectly fine, but the author had to add all of this worthless cringe-worthy drama. <<less

"Way of the devil" world with a weak cheat and a less monstrous MC.

... more>> MC has zero talent for cultivation so he has to take a bloodpotion that limits your future even if you have a little bit of talent. Talented cultivators overtake him but he catches up through pure hard work.

On top of that his system only works when he upgrades his cultivation level and even then, the boost it gives is not much. So he has to basicially claw his way up with grit, determination and lucky encounters.

Later he finds a dreamhell dimension where he can absorb the souls of the inhabitants and he fights them every night with a lot of neardeath experiences. <<less
