Laura was facing financial difficulties due to her stingy parents and four younger siblings. Her worries intensified when a typhoon blew away the roof of their old mansion. However, her luck seemed to turn when she learned that the duke’s mansion was hiring.

The duke, the owner of the mansion, was a well-dressed man who seemed to have obsessive-compulsive tendencies. He was also quite handsome, but the dark circles under his eyes conveyed the impression that he was fatigued… Huh? Excuse me…

There seems to be a ghost behind you!

The Covozhalden Mansion was known to be haunted, but the job offer was too good to pass up. Despite her fear, Laura decided to take the job and improve her livelihood.

So she began working there, running around every night to help the various ghosts that she encounters cross over to the afterlife, such as the little girl running down the hallways, the painting that keeps tilting, and more. She is the only one who can see the ghosts along with the duke, who works just as hard to help them cross over.

I blinked my eyes several times. I even leaned my head forward, trying to get a better look. However, the girl remained in my sight and didn’t disappear. After a brief moment of hesitation, I carefully extended my hand above her head and slowly brought it down.

It was supposed to be a gesture to pat her head, but I couldn’t touch it. My hand went straight through her head.

“Sister, that’s my cerebral cortex there, you know?”

I've read this as far as we have chapters right now (c18) and... I do not love the MC.

Red flag about first ghost laid to rest:

Spoiler

So, she's laid her first spirit to rest by letting a ghostly child meet his half-brother, a Young Marquis, and relaying their words to each other. But... despite experiencing the boy's death personally, and knowing it was a mu*der, our MC -no- curiosity about uncovering how he died. Even if they can't investigate it because of Reasons, shouldn't they be wary of the people from that boy's home estate? Moreover, going on how the ghost set fire to the MC's dress at the mere mention of his brother, there should be some worry that he was the culprit. Instead, she's going on a date to a boutique and cafe with the boy's brother "to let him repay her" and naively thinking to herself that nobody from the mansion will notice if a dowdy, bright red-haired servant accompanies a dashing Young Marquis to multiple places around town.

[collapse]

The MC is always saying that she's terrified of ghosts and trying to quit, and her Duke employer literally faints over fear, but none of them have any wariness toward the living people around them??? Is this Mary Sue plot armor?

Red flag about the MC's family:

The story starts out with the the five abandoned siblings finding their mansion near collapse and unlivable during a thunderstorm. The next morning, the MC goes to market to get some food with her last coppers while looking for a job. When she gets back to her four younger siblings, they had evidently lost their minds with worry that she'd vanished because things got hard (the assumption is that this is what their parents did). She reassures them that is not the case and puts them up at an inn with a -promise- to the innkeeper that the bill would be paid within the week. After being informed that the youngest sibling, an infant, is feverish, she leaves right away to seek her new job.

Since then:
Spoiler

She's been holed up at the magnificent mansion with a live-in job and full meals for days, never asking for an advance on her salary to be sent to her siblings, and deciding to go on a date with a handsome, near-stranger on her day off rather than checking on her actual family. She's left them without food, water, medicine, or a paid room for days and has barely spared a thought since then that she even has siblings, even though her ENTIRE job is to sit and idle the day away doing nothing. The young Duke just wants someone around who can also see ghosts so he knows he's not going insane.

I'm not saying she should bring them into the mansion but, dang, at least send them some money or let them know you're alive and haven't abandoned them. What if they saw her in town, wearing new clothes and eating strawberry cake with a handsome man, while they were left to rot at the inn? How will she explain that???

[collapse]

I would normally suggest that I just need to read more and everything would be explained, but they have nnnoooOOOOooo problem with giving us details on how the entire mansion's staff thinks she's sleeping with the Duke and the Young Marquis, along with her attempts to dissuade them. Yes, we understand this is reverse harem. Now, about your conscience, did you leave it behind in the ruined Baronial mansion?

On the bright side, the translation is quite good.
