It's good but not that exceptional. I enjoy it but not to the point I loved it.

You got a very likeable MC. He's very "hero" like. The type that's determined to save everyone, even if the path is hard and full of struggle. Can't hate him even if u tried to. The side character is quite good too I suppose. There's some that kinda lacking, but I found MC father the most interesting out of everyone.

The plot is also quite well written. No info dumps, no unnecessary filler, it's good.... more>> You can tell that the author planned every arc.

Overall it's a good read. Good hardworking MC, nice plot and progression, quite charming side character. So why I don't give it a 5 star?

Well, that's bcs I found this novel scared of what it called "consequences"

Spoiler

As far as I read, I'm getting more and more annoyed by MC regression power. It ruins my immersion for god sake. All the convo, the bonds, the events that happen becomes null and only exist in MC and our memories. Like? I don't got emotional just to see MC go back in time to solve it all by his own. Srsly, give back all my tears and feelings that I have wasted. The talks that MC had with Mir before the exam and her death. When Hector believes in Luan even in his desperate moments. When Seren sacrifice herself. How Luan father acts when he woke up after Luan heals him using the devil powers. Like all of this got me super invested. But what, author just decided "hey you can go back in time to stop all of this from happening". Bruhhh, I'm angry. Because no one remember except us and MC.

Really interesting so far. The MC is awesome. He had a period of life where he was a real loser but the story starts after his master has beaten that out of him and we only hear about it via the MC's memories. The current MC has the mentality of a master. Can't wait to read more.

Now am I writing this with a tiny bit of bias? Yes.

The plot here is pretty simple but as we move on we got introduced to plot twists and characters that make me very confused but curious about there backstories etc.

If you came here for characters that might seem irrelevant at first but get character development + become important to the plot and the MC this is for you, im also a generally emotional person but I haven't been this emotional since orv lotm etc so it's rare for a... more>> story to pull at my heartstrings like this, although I know the MC would be safe the author writes it in such a way that I get emotional

I personally enjoy the MC due to finding him with a similar personality as me I'm not projecting but still very reletable in my opinion.

Edit : SPOILERS

Spoiler

we get a scene with the MC and his father talking a little bit about the MCs suffering not mentioning the reggresion but just a very simple "you wouldn't care what happens about to me if I was still useless, even if I was cleaning toilets just to make money." scene

[collapse]

Spoiler

MCs father is starting to remember small bits of the MC reggresions when he died soo expect some family angst to be at a 100

FYI I read the mtl of it.

Basic description of the novel is cliche Murim novel with some twists and elements of surprise.

story- kids seen as talentless, get kicked out from clan, become mercenary and meet this master of martial arts. But there is more to this “master” than what meets the eye. And he regresses, YaY. That basically how the story starts.

Pros: the characters are f*cking amazing bro. I haven’t read a story with that many fleshed out characters in a while. All the characters may seem cliche as first... more>> but as you keep reading em kids go thru sum character development. Especially characters like Evan and Hector.

There a clear goal to the story, so the story development flows pretty nicely. You know that the story’s gonna progress in a consistent way. Ofc sometimes it makes it boring but the story arcs in this novel are actually pretty gud.

The character twists go crazy, I ain’t gonna say anything but they are nice with it. And in terms of power-scaling, I have admit my boy a bit too strong but it makes sense ”sometimes”.

Cons

don’t know if this counts as a con really, I. Just putting it here to fill space. The story is pretty predictable, as I said in the Pros, the story flows in a way, where it’s consistent. But with consistency, it becomes more predictable. There’s still twists and different elements at play here but still you know exactly what’s going to happen at the end (which is most novels soooo ye).

the character of MC at the beginning feels a bit conflicting. Like he trained so much under his master and he gained so much knowledge and practice about martial arts. Yet his improvement at the start felt underwhelming. Then he just started improving a lot all of a sudden. Don’t quote me on this since I read this like a bit ago (like a week and a half). Also I have short term memory loss when it comes to the flaws of the novel.

Lastly, I don’t know. I read like 3 other novels after this. So don’t remember much. Anyways novel is pretty enjoyable and just give it a try. <<less

The MC is a pushover, even with all the strength in the world he has no self respect. He’s a dumbass, he gets kicked out of his clan and gets his tendons clipped so he becomes a cripple, he’s another one of these ret*rded reincarnated characters where they torture themselves and surround themselves with enemies for no reason. He returns to the past he gets out of having his tendons clipped and then goes on a journey with person who beat him up and traumatised him, he should’ve told her... more>> to f*ckoff and escaped the clan, instead he s*aves away for his sh*t clan who he owes nothing and keeps spouting his clans name as if he’s proud of his clan. Throughout this story.I just keep thinking they disowned you, you ret*rded maggot why the f*ck are you still fighting for them, there's literally no reason for him to go along and be a s*ave of the clan. Hell never be the strongest because he’ll always be some weak willed piece of sh*t that gets trodden on and keeps trying to asslick his ab*sers. <<less

3.9 and 4.1 stars.

The novel is bordering on exceptional, and just good. You'll see what I mean once you jump into the story.

The novel is primarily about an MC who goes back into the past with the help of his mentor. This isn't really a spoiler since it's covered during the prologue.

... more>> The MC coming from a serious, noble family-- is untalented. He was abandoned because of his talents. He also was a little douchebag fallen noble until he became a disciple of his master. This also isn't really a spoiler since it's covered during the prologue.

Anyhow, all this gives you a vague idea on how the story might be, right? But it actually has a unique plot in which the MC is grown into.

The reason why I said why this novel is teetering on the edges of exceptional is because of the missed opportunities to make real, emotional connections between the reader and the character. The MC definitely suffered in his past life, it would have been great to see some of that suffering apparent in him now.

What it does good in is a little deeper within the story. In fact, it's a part in which will make you immersed within the character's adversity. It's within a certain fight scene.

Anyhow, we can only hope. But from I've seen so far-- I wouldn't expect this story to carry emotional undertones. <<less

It's very good. Would absolutely 10/10 recommend. While others may call this novel cliche, I think it's truly unique and an insanely great read.

Characters: 5/5, almost every character serves a purpose and you can feel how much effort author put into fleshing them out and developing them

Plot: 4.5/5, may be a little slow in the beginning, but it gets insane later on, with the most mind-boggling twists

Twists/Sheer f*cking Entertainment: peak/5, no explanation needed. Just read.

One of the most complicated novel that I read. It's not about the plot, but the genre, its not my cup of tea. Martial Arts is something that I can't handle bcuz I can't even imagine the fighting scene. But this one have something else that I like. Family development, character growth and friendship etc. That's why I kinda like it so much.

Let's talk about the plot. If you read CHE, you'll like this. Just as what someone who recommend it to me said. It's not similiar, but have that... more>> kind of.. Structure? Idk. Something like The fam slowly warm, everyone's pov start to change abt the MC.. A Little, and the things like MC don't want to be everyone's hero or involved with everyone's villain but in the end he become one of that part of villain community bcuz of unexpected thing. Something like that vibe. The different is.. This one is more in MAt, some kind of more heroic, Sword art, and lil bit less warm (?). And again, mtl this kind of novel really exhaust me. I really hope for more frequent update. Fighting <<less

The plot is really nice but the execution sucks, author's editor ain't doing their jobs right.

Spoiler

Author's writing have no urgency, there's a chapter where MC fought a strong beast where he ended up extremely exhausted but he met a lucky encounter in the form of ethereal godly being that offers him a blessing and informs him that an extremely strong enemy is fast approaching the mc's group while they're exhausted

seems reasonable?

No, author decided to have the MC follow the ethereal being's "ceremony" to make the MC it's inheritor, which apparently took an hour so of course the enemy caught up,

but that's the thing! They're on a cave and the godly being detected the enemies at the entrance and it said they're strong and fast! It shouldn't have taken them an hour to reach MC and friends!

So there's that, they fought again and the "guardian" kind of character ended up sacrificing himself to let the MC run (dude ain't dead yet, he just have to fight the person who ripped his arm before, now while he's exhausted alone and against many and he only got one arm.)

So what does the MC do? Nothing, he just goes home 4days later, he doesn't report that the"guardian" guy is fighting the cult alone, so the elders asks him to report what happened but he haggles with them about the map instead

-_- 0 worries about his savior -_-

[collapse]

All in all author is presumptuous, he just writes as he will, thinking that the readers won't notice, he doesn't even try to make the novel more realistic, to him it's just "a story" its not a real world despite all the world buildings he did, author's will is the law, he doesn't even try to justify it.

author's editor and proof reader aren't doing their job right.

Edit:
Spoiler

pretty bad info dump and forced scenarios.

C42 a "bad guy" suddenly turned creepy and info dump for no reason, confessing that mc's previous wrong doings were his fault, really out of nowhere.

Despite the traditional beginning of "the duke's rubbish youngest son" and time travel "to prove himself a useful person", the honesty that attracted me was the Mary element in a medieval western world and I didn't have high hopes for it (just another novel with an attractive concept but I'll drop it Anyway), I became obsessed, there was something about it that made me remember the joy of reading and discovering the plot and secrets.

It's not that its not interesting but golly! This novel have too much info-talking-dump, sometimes it took multiple chapters, I get it, it's for the clarity, but can't it not be compressed to the important parts rather than the less important part that can be ignored?

:3

Still it's quite a good read, not a 4 stars (imo) its more like 3.4 stars caused by long info dumps.

Edit :

2.8 stars, it's not that the premise isn't good but the talking was, clearly MC don't have the eloquence needed, he just need to train himself, but clearly the author want to rush it but also using the slow pace while at it, bunch of characters appearing, and MC more like ball that tossed around like a pushover, he got from one enemies hand to another, when would he train? Ig author would chuck him full of elixirs at some point to forcefully increase MC's power so he can beat the enemies in plot armor scene. If that was the case one time is acceptable, twice is pushing it, multiple times just not worth reading anymore. <<less

I started to read this novel with no expectations at all, and the first few chapters didnt changed my mind, it looked generic AF, but at a certain you realize that while completely conventional, the story NEVER slows down, its like a snowball of goodness, where every saga is as good or better than the last one.

The author also knows how to play to his strenghts, the overall story and world may be completely innocuous (neither good nor bad) but the novel places its most of its focus on the... more>> parts that are actually amazing (action and characters) making for an amazing reading experience

honestly 10/10, great reading experience, would recomend <<less
