Spoiler

MC is incarnated into a game world. However, he seems to lack any special abilities and has poor mana. High mana being indicative of a powerful hunter. He just barely qualifies as an awakener (aka hunter). He is raised by his aunt and has no parents.

He has a childhood friend who is not the villain from the game world, Lim Hana. Lim Hana is talented in magic and has a better off family with doting parents. During elementary years MC encounters game villain regressor Cheon Mari. She promptly beats the sh*t out of him suspecting him as he differs from her past life memories.

Lim Hana plans to gain strength to protect MC and starts attending a secondary school for hunters. While she goes off doing that she starts to grow apart from the MC and convinces herself that things will not change. MC and Cheon Mari grow closer through constant bickering and fighting.

Cheon Mari and MC have an encounter with middle school bullies while in elementary school. They manage to triumph and the MC shows a brief sign of a strange power (only used a handful of times and no explanation of the power in world thus far, despite MC trying to look into it).

Lim Hana begins to fall in with the wrong crowd, her parents offer to enroll MC into the same school to try to get her back on track. They require MC to follow and report on her. Lim Hana continues to push others further away, culminating in MC confronting her out of legitimate concern for her drug use. She attacks him and sends him to the hospital (mirroring what Cheon Mari did) however, Lim Hana blames MC for her actions and never apologizes for this. Her druggie friends setup a plan to "deal with him" with her approval.

Class goes on a trip to visit a ruin. Cheon Mari mysteriously splits from the MC. MC is confronted and attacked by Lim Hana's druggie friends. He manages to beat them without seriously injuring them as he makes up his mind that Lim Hana needs to go for treatment. Lim Hana in some weird mix of self deception, drugs, and such decides to mu*der him. She is prevented from doing so by a timely earthquake in the ruin. Though she leaves him frozen to a collapsing bridge.

After escaping she and druggie friends lie about having not seen MC to teachers. Lim Hana goes home, takes drugs and deludes herself into believing that MC brought his death about by himself and that he deserves it for being a traitor. This includes some time later lying to the MC's family to their face about what happened.

Cutting off at this point as I feel like this is enough of an overview so far to get you into the story. I glossed over some parts and didnt summarize the full 30 chapters.

TLDR, decent hunter/gate novel with some new twists. <<less
