Having an outstanding tutor was the bare minimum of a good teaching environment.

This was the fundamental reason behind Di Lin choosing Saint Padeus’ Magic Institution.

But only after entering the school did he realise—

His imagination was too perfect, while reality was too disastrous. Friends were scarce, and the tutor was difficult to deal with.

The saying Di Lin passed down to later generations: “My glorious times… started from remaining silent.”

A story about a magic school that teaches about elements, a royalty-magic MC student and a (slightly eccentric) teacher ML. This story was very well written in terms of character development and world-building was pretty complete imo. Any more details and it might have gotten boring, so this was just right. The characters were slowly introduced and their characteristics were shown rather than told, which I liked.

Fair warning though, the relationship wasn't the main focus in this story, although situations were definitely building towards it. So if you're here looking... more>> for some sweet fluff or "dog food" then you'll probably be disappointed.

Personally, I won't say this is the BEST novel, but it's definitely one of my favourites because it's well planned and the magic school/element was interesting. The characters did not suddenly become OOC (out-of-character) after they got together as well. Personally, I felt that ML's reaction to the relationship was pretty in-line with his previously-established character/attitude, although I can understand the disappointment from the other readers (reviewers) about it.

My only qualms about it would be that this novel is part of a SERIES (of 5 books, if I'm not wrong), so although the main story of this couple should be complete, it did end in a sort of cliff-hanger that links to the next book, so there's that. Otherwise, I love this novel, those who are into plots and development without excessive details can definitely give this a try. <<less

In the magic - school life genre, this is by far the best book I have read. For the fast introduction of characters in the first 5 chapters it's easy to follow, at least the names aren't all Asian.

The pace of the story is fast, but it is still very submersive. The interaction between the MC and the ML aren't on the nose. The author slowly builds the feelings very naturally. To the point that the readers doesn't even notice the suttle change at first.

Good story, great characterbuiling and woldbuilding.... more>> Right amount of action and school life. <<less

I love how Di Lin (MC) is very close with his cousin Suo Suo! He takes care of him so well and that just really draws me in. It wouldn't be too bad if there was no romance in this story at all because I loved the interactions between all of the characters. The dialogue is also something that must be praised. Di Lin is sooo smooth. Suo Suo is adorable. Ning Ya was... honestly, I wish he could share more scenes with Di Lin bc he was amazing and... more>> had great chemistry with Di Lin.. why did the author have to make him leave the institute?! The rest of the noble students really stood out in the beginning of the story, but the story veered off from the beginning and I kinda hate it as the others appear less and less and Hydien appears more and more. Frankly, I wish it was no romance bc everything was fine the way it was in the first half and then the CP's romance started and it was just...a but lacking in personality bc the focus of the story changed from the school life and becoming better at magic, which I THOUGHT was well written, to Hydien and the increasing attraction that Di Lin was feeling towards him. It could've been better if we can see more of Hydien's feelings for Di Lin. All in all, Di Lin's relationships with his friends and other people are top-notch to read! And the character developments were good! <<less

Read this for the characters! The main couple is awesome, separately or together. Also, the MC's dad is super sweet. I feel like CN novels rarely have such good dads.

This is the first novel of a series. As a result, some loose ends aren't tied up, and the ending is used to set up the second novel (out of five? I don't remember), which is apparently about another character that shows up in the novel. Please read with this in mind.

That said, this novel does have some weak areas. I... more>> feel like the magic (elemental magic) isn't explained that well, but I'm hoping the second novel (if it ever gets translated) will continue to flesh out this interesting world. There were also some small moments where I went "what the heck, " but they weren't super important for the plot.

The tutor is amazing at speaking; his poisonous tongue can shut up literally anyone. Definitely a highlight of the novel. The MC is stable and intelligent, kind of a big brother figure to his friends.

I wouldn't read this for the romance. It's slow, small, but sweet. Pretty darn subtle, and it's still pretty lowkey until pretty much the end. Overall, I'd say that this novel is a decent start to a series. Not mindblowing, but pretty fun to read.

Random note, but I laughed at some of the minor characters' names... Teacher Bill and Uncle Bob the Butler. XD Western Fantasy mixed with Chinese elements, haha. <<less
