[Thoughts at chapter 50-ish]

I'm enjoying it so far, but rather than making games like a game dev, the MC is a streamer who plays VR league of legends (which she didn't make). It makes sense in the story, as she has to get some audience to buy the games she has made, but the author has put very little detail in the games she has made whilst VR League of Legends is very highly detailed, with lots of thought put into describing playable characters and how good they are in... more>> the game, which would be fine if the MC made the game, but she didn't.

So far, it feels more like failed indie dev becomes LOL streamer rather than indie dev makes games.

[Thoughts having completed the series]

MC goes hard on game development, a lot more games are made, and the change in nice. Game development isn't focused on much, what usually happens is that the MC announces to her friend group of streamers that she's made a new game, they play it, she uses her ability to forget making the game, and then exploits aspects in the game to do well in it. As the group play the game, we learn about what kind of game it is, it's gimmicks, all that.

You aren't getting chapters talking about how the MC is designing the game, what aspects she'll focus on, the progress she makes making the game. You don't get that. However, that isn't to say the novel isn't entertaining, it's written well enough that you read it to the end.

The cast is somewhat large, I found that the men in the group often confused me, because there'd be irl names, their modern username and then the username they used 7-10 years ago, and the TL leaves you confused about who that person actually is, though you figure out eventually in hindsight. Outside the MC, the best cast are the male characters, the female characters feel rather one note and heroine-like, but male characters will have extensive history with the MC that's uncovered, thoughts and jobs, events that they're doing unrelated to the MC.

Spoiler

You will find moments where the novel tries dipping it's toes in being yuri-esqe, but never commits or tries with it, but you're left thinking the male characters should date the MC instead of the girls. I say this often enjoying yuri ships. (MC is as*xual as f*ck, so don't expect anything to happen.)

[Thoughts on the ending]

Spoiler

It just suddenly ends, you don't expect it to end, it just time skips and ends. MC did achieve a lot by then, so I don't blame the author for running of steam, but it feels really sudden and disappointing that it suddenly ends. Especially since around the end, we see a lot from the perspective of the MC's childhood friends and on their pasts and that was rather well done, making you expect more from these characters, and then the novels over.

I think this has potential, but so far it's a bit disappointing. The MC has a cheat that lets her skip all the "boring" work of actual making her games and just beam her imagination straight into the computer. Stuff like music, art, programming, she can bypass all of that to create technical masterpieces that real game devs, limited by things like time and software and budget, can only dream of. If the author just wanted to use that as an excuse to skip straight to the "exciting" parts, I... more>> would be fine with that. If the story dove into the MC's thought process when creating characters or levels or music, showcased her inspiration and artist's soul, I would love it. But instead, the ratio of streamer to game dev is currently quite heavily in favor of streaming, and while there's nothing wrong with that, I just wished the author put more effort into the game dev side of things. The most interesting part when reading about an artist is seeing the artist's thought process when bringing imagination into reality, and there is none of that in this story.

Another thing is that the translation is quite confusing. I honestly can't tell if the MC is schizophrenic or trolling or just a fish out of water or if it's just the translation making a mess of things. So I'm dropping this work for now. Maybe I'll take a look once it has a couple more reviews and a hundred or so more chapters. <<less
