Pretty decent novel

Pretty unique take on the polygamy genre, with the integration of new members into the harem being specifically attended to (though dropped off very late into the novel). Time is taken to talk about the family life every so often.

The one thing that annoyed me was that every crisis revolved around the death of his woman, literally every one. If he did not get through the crisis, it meant the death of one of his wives. I'm fine if it happens once or twice, but again, its throughout... more>> the entire novel.

Overall, I wish the novel would have taken more time for the protagonist to explore himself, but otherwise a decent read. <<less

Very good read, I recommend it.

At first I was skeptic due to the existence of a system (which I consider lay writing) but later everything changed, and the system wasn't the main focus of MC Goals.

Probably more in the humour wish fulfillment category and to be honest it's closer to a 4.5/5.

The name is a bit odd as I don't think he has a father-in-law that would be the prerequisite to be a son-in-law as most of the heroines early on are orphans.

Overall it's a solid read and I don't think there was ever a bit that I hated. Ending is a bit rushed but is generally a happy ending and while it could be fleshed out more in an epilogue I've no complaints there.

It's good early, falls off a little on the kingdom building part of it, but the protagonist is never too op or too helpless. Suffers a little bit from the "Every woman to my harem", but it's almost a non issue TBH. He has good male friends and his male friends have waifus themselves (Tho it might not be a good thing for a few of them...), and the Harem never grows overly big. Every woman gets enough screen time for you to care about them and get to know... more>> them.

Definitely way better than other stories were the MC is either dense or rejects love/friend to travel further down the martial path. He'll make lovers if he falls in love, and he'll make friends if he finds someone he likes/respects. He's anything but lonely.

Most characters are also well thought out, nothing too amazing, but still miles better than the average CN novel. My only complaint being that the villains are too arrogant and simple at times. It feels more like he's fighting purposefully evil people than people with clashing interests.

And of course, he's good at crafting absolutely everything because it wouldn't be a CN novel is the protagonist wasn't a master of all crafts with absolutely no effort, but honestly that one gets a free pass a this point. <<less

I have read hundreds of web novels over more than a decade and this one is one of the few (single digit) that made me read 1000+ mtl chapters (at the time the translation was still far behind).

Though I read it years ago I am adding a review now because I believe this novel is underrated.

It was one of the most entertaining and wholesome novel on this website, I still remember liking the humor (laughing hard on the first arc), strongly liking most of the harem members (especially the ones... more>> focused on in the 1st half) as well the adventures of the MC in general.

The only con I remember is that towards the end the harems gets a bit too big due to political alliances and MC fame.

If you liked it, you will probably like City of Sin and Heavenly Jewel Change. They are adventure novels with enjoyable/believable harem and a story that covers many basis including cultivation, kingdom and army building, politics, survival...

Anyway this is a story I recommend. <<less
