Honestly, it's not really that sad since it's written in a really short way. MC doesn't has any feeling (i forgot how it's called again) and ML is kind of cold outside. Basically the story is like this :

Quoted in the last scene :

My mind was completely overtaken by him. Like a broken projector, it tirelessly replayed the scene over and over again.

I couldn't control the memory of him lying in my arms, in a pool of his own blood saying to me, "I love you."

These words should have been the sweetest words one could ever hope to hear. However, they only brought incomparable agony to me.

The pain in my heart felt like it was breaking me apart.

I don't understand.

Not bad for a oneshot. The words are very sparse, but you get an idea of the setting (they're secret agent partners/military of some sort) and the end was fairly impactful.

Short stories are difficult to write well because you don't get a long time to immerse the reader into the moment and emotions with the characters. Although I don't have much critique for the structure of the events (I think it was done well), nothing really stood out to me either. There were no interesting details (did they like a... more>> particular food? Did one person have a particular habit?) that made the characters feel more real instead of just fictional people on the page.

The moment for the tragedy about the 3.45 seconds of hesitation was done well. But overall, the author could have done more to make the reader care about what happened and feel the loss on a higher level.

It’s short, but it’s so sad. It’s really a tragedy. I’m full of regret for the ending, An li didn’t deserve that.
