Yoon Yong-no, a ‘mutated genius’ born one in a quintillion (1,000,000,000,000,000,000). A ‘statistical miracle’ where possibility exists in impossibility.

But, it was only possible because… it was a world with no constraints.

Gradually, gods and transcendents involved themselves with this physical world.

In this chaotic turmoil, players with their real identities unknown, started making use of the game system to build up an armed group…

You thought it was a review? But it was me! D.I.O!

Sorry, I had to say it. Anyways, jojo reference aside, this is a pretty fun novel. While there's nothing truly amazing or unique, the battle scenes were enjoyable to read and even though there's quite a lot of cliche, it is well written enough that I don't feel tired reading it.

I just dropped this. It's not bad, but it's very 'Gary Stu Adventure'. Three stars is generous, believe me.

The GOOD:

  • The main story is loose, but interesting.
  • The MC is mostly acceptable through not really endearing.
  • Very few characters, but they are likable- even if ignored by the MC.
The Bad:

  • MC is asocial, and not very bright (though supposedly a 'genius'. Asocial shouldn't be an issue, except this is yet another story where 'the world' coddles the MC and his 'faults' are never an issue.
  • Total wish fulfillment. This doesn't have to be bad, but the way it's handled here is not good.
  • Main character is magically capable in everything, to a ridiculous degree- (except math for some reason, and despite his supposed school grades). It's seriously painful to watch him constantly 'excellent to a ridiculous degree', and 'luck into all the things'- and that's just in the tutorial.
  • MC is a plot puppet, taking random actions despite supposedly developed character to do random things so the plot can progress.
  • 'Plotting' (if you can call it such) is super forced. it's all pop-up events. Definitely a pantser novel. In fairness- some of it is interesting, but it all would be better if it was worked through properly.
  • So much exposition. You will have a ton of things explained to you- and most is actually unnecessary, while other bits are erroneous/forced justifications.
  • Magic system (s) are needlessly convoluted, and even the 'requirements' somehow don't apply to the MC anyway (because he's so 'clever').
  • Many things happen that you definitely aren't supposed to give any thought. They are things 'where this is done so this can happen'- not 'this thing logically happened, so this thing was able to be accomplished 'because of'/'despite' it. Seriously, if you read this- just sit an think about what the MC gets from 'deciding to swim for a while'- it's 'add on bonus' nonsense.
The different:

  • Trying to make a 'game system' should never be as needlessly ridiculous as here.
I quit this pretty early- so 'in fairness' you can take my review as 'premature' (because it is). That said, there are aspects of writer intent, focus, and style that are not often changed over the course of a novel- so I don't expect these habits to change- but hopefully I'm wrong as the story isn't 'at it's core' bad- though there really isn't much so far either.

Let me know if it gets good- I have many better things to follow, so this isn't worth it... <<less

Well I dropped it, though it's not entirely bad, it's not to my taste. This novel is about a "genius" MC who gets recruited to beta test a VR MMO and yes, the powers you get in the VR MMO relates to the "real world" in the novel, though I dropped it way before it reached that part. If you go into the novel expecting a smart, rational MC with his superpowers being his IQ, don't bother. The MC is actually kind of a dumbass and the "genius" MC refers... more>> to the fact that whatever nonsense he does always somehow works out. Also, the power system in this novel is needlessly complicated and the author would write paragraphs of exposition about the system that is wholly gibberish to me. There have currently been no long-standing characters so far (or as far as I have read) and the MC does his thing completely alone.

I recommend giving it a try and see if it suits your taste though I personally don't like it that much. <<less

One of the worst novels I've ever read, the author tries to make a serious novel but it's simply boring, besides the MC is one of the most useless people I've ever seen, even if the author presents mc's mental problems it doesn't make you have sympathy for him, simply because no one would like to read a novel with an absolutely cowardly and boring MC, after chapter 178 I decided to drop this novel for good, you have to be very masochistic to continue reading this thing, the author... more>> really has talent to produce such crap <<less

This novel starts off with someone who is supposedly a genius however is slow and antisocial. It is frustrating however as the novel progresses the story of why he is that way slowly unfolds and the storyline appears

pros

  • very detailed world apart from some lacking detail (which is somewhat important)
  • realistic character
cons

  • slow progression
  • MC has mental issues which can be frustrating

The novel starts out pretty slow and all these complaints from other reviews are somewhat vapors, but most is not all of those complaints I realize are I tended to demonstrate the stark difference in the characters/plot/world before and after. The main character really sucks at the beginning, but after certain key events becomes able to realize his potential. The world building starts off vague and mysterious, but then certain events connect it all together. The story is very coherent, well-written, and enjoyable by now, except for some minor sideplot... more>> gripes I will admit are a bit minorly annoying. Highly recommend. <<less

I dropped it for several reasons.

1. Needlessly complicated power system. I really don't want to go through a freaking maths formula to calculate the amount of power some character has 10 times per chapter. Or maybe I'm just dumb

2. MC is a ret*rd. Supposesly he's one in a hundred billion genius but he's dumber than the village idiot. For a supposed genius he's so damn s*upid he makes me feel smart.

3. S*upid name and change of the power class of the MC. After a few dozen chapters he suddenly decided... more>> that he's not a cultivator. He wants to become a wizard. And he chooses the name Merlin. No, I'm not kidding. *Facepalm*

Also, he's dogsh*t at being a wizard and still used the internal energy. Again, *facepalm*. As I've mentioned above, the MC is a ret*rd. <<less
