Mostly historical and politics. A very very slow novel. It is good for people who like to read a novel-like with less focus on MC and more focus on side characters.

It gets annoying sometime when the author have to keep reminding the audience 100th time how naive and fool MC is compared to peers or villains. It is good for the first few time as a character development, but it gets super annoying for every single guys to walk in to MC and said "You're naive cuz of ABCD" and... more>> MC have to admit it like a teenager admitting wrongs to parents.

This even gets worse when the only reason why MC is surviving all of these misfortunate and attempt on his lives so far because he's lucky. The villain always boast on "I can destroy you without flicking a finger" and "you are an ant in my circle". The only reason why MC live is because of sheer luck, honestly. Although the book make it seems like he's outsmarting, it'd always end with a footnote that somebody have totally read out MC but chose not to interfere him. <<less

I'm surprised how low the score is.

This story is actually quite good, the characters are generally nuanced, the MC has a fairly mysterious past with some very surprising twists, and the plot has been pretty interesting without tournament arcs or random young Masters.

The translation as well is pretty decent. The only thing is that the plot can be somewhat confusing because it does shift character perspectives from time to time, especially in the beginning, but if you stick with it the story gets better and better.

From what I have read up to this point, there are lots of info dumps that bores the reader. Like, in my opinion, if it's not directly affecting the story, then it's not necessary to know.

Sometimes, it feels like the MC isn't the true protagonist...

At times, it get repetitive and feels like word count is being padded with ridiculous amounts of world building. Like the author will explain a a large number of events of people already dead in large amounts of detail, in an insanely boring sort of... more>> way.

Also, there are multiple POV changes that really start to become boring over time. You get the feeling that the story isn't progressining.

That's why people have rated it lowly. Doesn't feel like anything special. Honestly have reached the 40th chapter and I am not finding this to be all that enjoyable. I'm close to dropping this. Extreme slow burn is not enjoyable. <<less

similar novels include, isaac, kingdom's bloodline, joy of life, and world of deities. No idea why its rated 1 star. Make it to chapter 60ish thats where it blooms. Like in the tales of ba sing sae in avatar too moonshade flower grows best when it is pushed in the shade more. I think it's less mainstream than isaac, but even darker. Similar to Kingdom's bloodline, but less naive and more mature. Similar character to joy of life, with less baggage. Less fantastical as world of deities, much more nuanced and real. It's a story thats similar to many, in this genre, however like many of its peers has its own taste and originality.

Don't espect kingdom building and perks of trasmigrators like magical industry, and yes the MC might seem weak. However this is not a face slapping novel or an OP MC, this seems to take a more winding path. Modern readers may find that weak MC's are boring and that life is so fragile. (The opposite of plot armor) However ancient china is very similar to the medieval world, lives were cheap and people knew it. A peasent was the same as livestock and cows to a ruler. Kings saw peasents as beasts and s*aves as property. Now at least a citizen can think and are worth minimum wage, however people are only worth as much as their intelligence, skills, experience, and family background. China, UK, Russia, USA and it translate that into a compelling story. For those in it for the long haul its going to be good (at least the first 150, anything after 300 is impossible to predict).

Just as good as I expected. Takes a lot of world building and builds up side characters slowly. Then side characters will be left aside. However I feel its well paced, like a detailed movie. It could be tedious and boring to some, however I enjoy the route the author seems to be taking. <<less

Wtf is with the low rating?

This novel is one of the better and can be compared to the likes of Ze Tian Ji.

We have a logical MC who uses his brains (no really, that's about what he has right now. No cheats, no grampas or any system). It is said that to be a cultivator, you'd need to have your meridians open. And our MC has at the very beginning 0 out of 120.

We have a mysterious plot targeting him (since self-awareness), but he preserveres. All characters have intelligence (yes,... more>> you read correctly, they're not 2d cardboard cut-outs), with their own desires and agendas. No character seems to be fully good or bad, but are somewhere therein (like actual humans are).

Our MC just want to survive with his companions, but fate toys with him.

5/5 stars!

Kinda sceptical at first when I saw all the reviews. But after try it, yes this is a good novel. It have smooth plot n humor to keep me hook. A hidden gem amongst all wuxia Chinese novel. Nice pick for the translator team! Keep it up! Hope it tl til completed!

I don't know why the rating is so low.

Any introduction of a one new novel, for the 50ish chapter, usually is a bit slow an uninteresting. But reader have to give it a chance before u leave a rating and you say "oh, this novel is not worth it". Its not the right way to giv a review. Please reflect my fellow readers.

ITs not bad actually. There is a underlying tone going on throughout the novel. ITs slow but I dont mind as it gives proper character development.

Author is weirdly specific about woman body parts which is kinda weird as instead of describing the fight, he describes how beautiful her legs are. There are some forced villains and lots of mysteries. Adressing people by " That person " or ' He is", such sort of thing but its not annoying. It makes a good blend.

The main character is you know how it... more>> is, virtious and good guy atleast in first 40 chs and even later. He is kind of lacking in information every time so enemies get better of him but thats the story.

The thing which I dont like however is Every strong character is goofball and their way dont match their strength, I am probably too picky and I can see it getting good but the way some characters are and the way author sometimes describes the women is kinda uncomfortable.

But I will definitly suggest it as it a top tier novel for sure. I myself am into dark theme with kind of villain MC but also MC is decisive even if he has to kill people he know. First 10 chs are complete info dump though so remember that. <<less
