When Feng Yi’s business was in trouble, his great-aunt’s personal butler came to him with a huge inheritance.

Feng Yi: “There are so many people of the same generation, why did she choose me?”

Butler: “You look the most pleasing.”

Feng Yi touched his V-shaped face. “She has good eyesight!”

However, after receiving the inheritance, everything went wrong.

OMG?!?!?! YES! I don't really know much about the novel rn, I've only read up until like chapter 3 via MTL, but stopped 'cuz I thought how I should just wait for Author to finish writing, then maybe at that time someone will pick it up to translate. And here it is~

Though I don't know much of it, I've been a fan of Lazy Clique's other fantasy novels (Superstars of Tomorrow, Chronicles of Primordial Wars, and Star Rank Hunter) so am excited for this one. On another note, I saw... more>> that it doesn't have as high rating unlike the novels I mentioned, so am a bit apprehensive, I still want to trust the author though! Since the novels I read got better the more recent it is. <<less

It's a story more about the character's growth and acceptance of his condition. There's not a lot of drama and it can get dull at times (for me anyway), but I still find it interesting and will keep reading. There are some chapters where the POV switches to his cousin and I'm like what? but thankfully it's not too often.

One thing I must say tho

Spoiler

people keep calling MC dumb/s*upid in the story (really it's just the butler and aunt) but I feel he's pretty smart? maybe a bit reckless lol but not entirely s*upid. don't get it... MC ab*se! lol

This is a fun read for me, with the tone a bit closer to the author's earlier work: Strange Life of a Cat. I couldn't stop myself from reading, basically I couldn't put down the book 🤣

Finally someone pick this up!!! I'm a fan of the author~

This novel about how the MC got a 'power' (because his family bloodline?). His power kinda a "secret" so not many people actually knows his real power including his family (similar to a superhero movies? *But totally different).

Spoiler

He can turn into snake but its not instant. His power kinda OP too

Thanks to the translator & team for picking this novel.

2.5 rounded up bc it was entertaining while it was. Dropped. I don't think it's bad. I think the premise is interesting and the progression is fun. I definitely recommended for biology or evolutionary anthropology majors or something like that. But even then like I started losing interest pretty quickly because.... At some point you realize well the author isn't writing is because there is a point which is what I thought was the case.. And you realize the writing it just for fun which is totally fine but not... more>> what I thought. It comes into the premise like oh this is an evolution like you're becoming your best self for whatever whatever... Obviously I have not read the entire novel there's like 555 chapters.. So I'm sure maybe it would be maybe to the degree where that would be necessary but I just am not the type who liked animorphs anyways.

So I understand everything up until that point where it's like okay everything is an evolutionary thing to become a stronger and more advanced person for some reason which Im sure we would understand later.
Spoiler

but I don't understand besides the fact that the author likes it or it would gather a lot of I guess response from the readers.. besides that fact I don't understand it for the plot wise based on preconditions they already set up which is like this is you know an evolution and he's leveling up to become more advanced than humans because of some reason which we will know later I assume which I did not get there because I dropped the novel right? So there's that caveat which I am leaving. But I still don't understand and maybe the world's going to go to sh*t and so it will become necessary but I personally think there is no reason for him to have a tail. Evolutionarily in this society unless the whole world breaks down and becomes a forest which could happen I don't know I didn't read any further... It is not beneficial for him. Unless aliens are going to come or other animals are going to come and or other animals are going to evolve where they become a threat... I don't get why he needs a snake tail. I don't get it. Like does a snake move that much faster than legs? Does a snake tail hit that much harder? Of course he hits harder but that's because he obviously his cells changed and he became stronger but was that necessary for a tail like you know what I mean?

I actually took like evolutionary anthropology so or biological anthropology so I just... I'm just trying to wrap my head around it you know.... Like this is a society unless the society breaks down completely where we don't have inconveniences for animals like stairs or elevators or just like pathways or cars or whatever... Like these are more efficient no? Am I crazy. Like I don't get it. But maybe of course like I said because I didn't finish the whole novel the whole world's going to break down and this tail thing will make sense or the author will make it make sense because they have to to be a good author or whatever even though I don't think it does whatever. I'm sure the author will make some plot to make it make sense. But I think considering how they set up the book logic up until now I was totally like leaning into it and I think that's really interesting.. And maybe I'm just too much of like oh humans are too powerful and thinking that a snake couldn't be more powerful or be more efficient or whatever.. But like I just I can appreciate a snake I just don't understand the snake tail like I genuinely don't. Whatever

also I cannot stop thinking about the monsters from the Winx club do you know what I mean? They were never attractive to me so it's kind of like jarring to even think about this... But MC really makes me feel like uncomfortable cuz I always thought those monsters were really ugly. So yeah anyways. It's a personal thing I don't think this is for me.

But even then even if I got past that, I was willing to honestly. The thing that even made worse for me that made me want to drop it was just the fact that...
Spoiler

I don't really understand why you need to breed.. I think there is just too much importance on snakes in this world that doesn't quite make sense. I get it and I'm fine with that premise. But I think a little extreme. But even then that's okay. But I think for me the final straw legitimately was him contemplating breeding venomous snakes to sell venom for money. I mean I'm only getting to like the ideation phase but the fact that it was even brought up to him and that he's thought about it at least two times before... Makes me think that this is inevitable and I think it's s*upid. There's something about this idea that I don't like. I think it's like a weird idea and just feels like oh yeah this is what the author thought was good to do next but I don't think so? I think there's something like not congruent about it. It just feels like oh this is for fun. Like this isn't a real plot anymore for me. There's something that made that unserious to me like this plot was serious to me until this moment for some reason. And that's disappointing to me and therefore I just felt like you know what this book is not for me I don't think it's as serious I thought as I thought it was I don't think it's as interesting as it thought it was..... Yeah whatever. So that's why I was like I don't know not for me.

[collapse]
I don't think the main character is s*upid. Actually I think there's nothing so far that makes me think that way. I think he's pretty normal. But I think I questioned more the author's choices and the plot and making the main character do certain things.... Than anything else to be honest. I actually don't blame the main character at all but I haven't gone that far since I'm only like a chapter 144 right. And I've dropped it now. <<less

Really good slice of life with some mystery thrown in to keep it interesting. The setting is almost the opposite of the cat one: somewhat post-apocaylptic Earth world where instead of having no animal protection laws, it's to the point that owning anything made of leather is a serious crime.

It's not a 5 for me because I did end up losing interest, unlike the cat one... there are also things like him being terrible at secrets / avoiding killing even when they deserve it, but tbh the latter is pretty... more>> rare since it's just slice of life. I definitely recommend giving it a shot if you're in the mood for a relaxing story involving snakes. <<less
