Jian Shu was sent by his family to the remote Yucheng to serve a “god” who has been worshipped for thousands of years.

It was a sham.

The “god” was a bloodthirsty evil spirit, not gentle and kind.

The large ancient mansion was dark and cold, and Jian Shu was the only living person there.

He didn’t know that he was sleeping with an evil spirit that had been starving for a thousand years, but he brought offerings every day and worshipped him with fear. If he was afraid, he would stay in the ancestral hall and talk to the “god” in a low voice.

The boy’s troubles and joys woke up the sleeping “god”.

One day, he fell asleep curled up on a futon.

When he woke up, a clear hickey appeared above his collarbone.

Gradually, something changed inside the ancient mansion that didn’t see the light of day.

It started out as a light to welcome him back.

A wonderful read. It really felt like the last chapter had come full circle. Writing was good overall, but as with all god and reincarnation novels, the god death and reincarnation segment was disjointed and difficult to comprehend due to the messy timelines searching for the fragments of his soul. However, afterwards, I liked how the author gave us a glimpse into their life post-evil-Jian-clan

This novel was so good. It's quite an interesting concept, and the characters are all written rather well in my mind.

The MC could have easily become a white lotus that deserves a slap from a qt rebirth story, but he never crosses that border into becoming a nuisance. Instead, it becomes clear that for every obstacle, he doesn't just wish for the best or show a cheerful attitude. He literally has learned to focus on the positive and MOVE ON. I think a white lotus is annoying much of the... more>> time because of their privilege, how they get handed things on a silver platter, and how they impose their values on others. This MC is none of that. He's been through horrible situations, but he doesn't ruminate on it, doesn't even seek revenge or allow it to consume his energy. Instead, he picks out the positives to focus on and works on improving his own life as much as possible. It's not like he will just let others walk all over him, or that he is naively positive, but he just understands the futility of ruminating on the past longer than it takes to learn from it. He won't help those who truly wronged him, but he also won't go out of his way to attack them or celebrate their retribution. Instead, he makes the best of his situation, lives it using his own moral compass, and focuses on his own goals. This pragmatic optimism is so refreshing.

The ML could have also easily become the op golden finger, which he was for a bit, but his indulgence and pampering felt justified given his backstory and the true effort the MC makes towards supporting him. He is very op, but only because he has a touchstone he can rely on in the form of the MC. The interaction between the MC and ML was so healing and surprisingly equal considering one was a god and the other was just a little convert.

Finally, I think this story has such great morals in addition to the ones built into the characters. The story is a treatise on the dangers of jealousy. Just because someone has a better life or talent or background does not make it right to take advantage of them or try to coopt their luck. At the end of the day, it's still theirs. It's not fair, but it's also not fair for them to have it stolen from them. <<less

It’s a mystery novel. It’s interesting and makes you curious about what’s going to happen.

As of now, this novel has a low rating and it’s probably because the MC is unlike the usual MC in yaoi novels.

This MC isn’t witty/smart/playful/strong.

Rather, he’s a scaredy cat and he’s personality isn’t really striking - he’s more “ordinary”

In one reading finished all sixteen chapters. Although Jian Shu seems immature in the first chapter, you can see that he have more personality of being a modern person. The background story is quite intriguing, and the discovery of the ONe is quite cute. I can feel some sweet pampering type here. Hehehehehe.

Will be waiting for more updates.

Ngl this novel is not what I expected. Quite short but entertaining. I guess the author wouldn't want to go into depth or detail on technique and history description, but it's quite good, wouldn't bored some reader, but if they could extend on some leading event would be great. Most of the time I wouldn't get to know much on backgrounds characters, tho they even with that they still have significant effect for the plot. However as mentioned above, I don't know what backgrounds of other side characters. Maybe author... more>> just don't want have many name characters which would confuse reader. Like the big boss villain boss no name and no clear description of him with the ml. Still the relationship building is great not rushing, how devoted of MC and ml. MC is not childish and timid, willingly, reasonable brave and ML is mature and cold but I guess this man is old evil but justified evil at one point; not his fault tho

They took advantage of him after his death and made him evil when he was awken with no sanity.
