During a twist of fate, Wen Baiche discovers a heavily injured Ji Linyun, who has lost all his memories.
Leaning down, Wen Baiche’s slender fingers cradle the back of the man’s head. With a slight tug, he exposes that pale, sharp chin. Ji Linyun’s hair is unexpectedly soft, and from this angle, his cold, chiseled features seem even more striking. Though his lips are flushed under the dim lights, his eyes remain filled with a chilling, mu*derous intent.
“Who are you?”
With a faint, teasing smile, Wen Baiche deceives his sworn enemy: “I’m your fiancé, of course.”
The Archon, hearing the rumors and seeking to stabilize a volatile political situation, simply approves their union. Wen Baiche realizes he’s in deep—once Ji Linyun regains his memories, the hatred will be lethal.
However, on their wedding day, Wen Baiche discovers that Ji Linyun was the one who drank the drugged wine intended for him. Ji Linyun’s eyes burn with a mix of innocent confusion and intense desire, a streak of vivid red staining his eyes and lips. Even as he trembles and clutches Wen Baiche’s hem, he snaps a fierce, “Get out.”
The two rivals end up spending a chaotic night together. For Wen Baiche, the experience is unforgettable. He becomes obsessed with Ji Linyun—the cold glares, the way his soft lips move, the sound of his voice in the heat of the moment. He falls hard and decides to pursue him for real. But just as he is about to confess, he is deployed to the front lines for six months.
When he returns victorious, roses in hand, he is met with devastating news: Ji Linyun is dead.
The Archon greets him with a commendation: “The Federation has dismantled the Ji family and executed the former Prosecutor. You played a vital role in this victory, Marshal Wen.”
The roses slip from Wen Baiche’s hand as he descends into madness. While the world congratulates him on his “triumph,” he storms into the federal prison, carving a path to those responsible for the plot. With a dark muzzle pressed against his own head, he kisses a brooch left behind by Ji Linyun and whispers, “I’m coming to join you.”
An explosion rocks the facility, reducing the prison to ashes.
Amidst the searing pain, Wen Baiche wakes up with a start. He has returned to the eve of his wedding to Ji Linyun. Overwhelmed with regret and a second chance, he vows to clear up the misunderstandings and protect his “wife” at all costs.
But on the night before the wedding, his wife openly defies orders and flees on a starship with a romantic rival.
The Marshal, ready with a grand confession: “…Wait, what?”
