I was transmigrated into a female-oriented romance simulation game as the second prince, a capture target who only flirts with the heroine out of an inferiority complex toward the first prince, Edward.

I don’t want to get killed by Edward.
I don’t want to interfere with anyone’s romance.
And I definitely don’t want to be hated, either.

“You’re the one who likes her. I don’t feel anything.”
“Good. You’d better not. You’ll never end up with her anyway.”

Please Note: The protagonist often speaks about Joffrey as if they were different people, so he sometimes changes to third person.

Is it just me, or have BL novels on this site been getting excessively downvoted lately? Sometimes there isn’t even a chapter released yet, and somehow there’s already a one-star rating. That kind of thing doesn’t seem to happen to straight romance books. Well, whatever.

This novel is one of the rare Rofan BLs on the site, and honestly, it’s actually quite good. I couldn’t stand the unfair rating, so I had to leave a review.

The story itself is fairly standard: our MC was a villain-type character in the original game... more>> who ended up suffering at the hands of the ogML. Now that he’s transmigrated, he naturally wants to avoid that fate.

A large portion of the story takes place during their younger years, and that’s also when we’re introduced to the various capture targets.

Yes, the plot may be simple, but that doesn’t really matter—because what does matter in this book are the characters. They’re all so lovable and precious in their own ways.

The MC, in particular, is a flat-faced, no-nonsense, dense little dumdum who couldn’t recognize love if it punched him in the face—but he’s also deeply lovable. He comes across as calm and emotionally detached, but through his actions—most of which he himself doesn’t realize—it becomes clear that he does care. That’s why so many characters are drawn to him, even if he’s totally unaware of it.

Spoiler

Even the MC’s mother—the Empress—who was initially presented as a biased villainess, fawning over the MC while despising the ML, seemed like a shallow caricature of the evil stepmother trope. But over time, she’s revealed to be one of the deepest, most compelling characters in the story. She’s surprisingly relatable and, eventually, genuinely endearing.

If you're craving a European-style BL, this is one of the better options out there. Don’t let the ratings mislead you. In fact, with how biased the ratings for BL seem lately (Especially the Korean ones), I’d say—unless the book has tropes you personally can’t stand or genuinely problematic content—if it’s rated 3.4 or higher, it’s worth giving a shot. You just might find a new favorite. <<less

I found this novel back when there were only a few chapters out—I’m talking about the manhwa version, of course. And it totally hooked me from the start! The art back then wasn’t as stunning as it is now, but the story and the MC... completely pulled me in!! I fell for it hard and never looked back 😂

Even though the early translations were MTL and honestly pretty bad, at least you could kind of follow what was going on. But when I found out there was an English translation?... more>> I didn’t even hesitate—I jumped right in and started reading all over again! And now I’ve been able to understand so much more about the story, the plot, and the characters.

I absolutely love the MC and his personality. Even if he doesn’t realize it, people adore him (I guess that’s kind of a spoiler? Haha oops).

The MC is trying to win over—or fix things with—his brother Edward, because in the future... he’s supposed to kill him 😱 Along the way, he also forms new bonds, with other capture targets too.

Anyway, I totally recommend reading it—it’s 100% worth it! <<less

I'm reading at Spring of Romance, I got hooked right away. It is very well written in my opinion, because you can clearly see the difference in MC and ml's pov and way of thinking causes a majority of the conflict and it actually came natural. Just a little nitpick, I think that Lowell and Grey needs more personal goals/aspirations that is not the two princes. Alex is kind of understandable.

Lowell especially

Spoiler

I think that he should have much more character than just 'i like MC so much im willing to go above and beyond, even give up my future (left out of his dad's will) for someone who doesn't even see me that way the slightest bit'. At least have some sense of self preservation, especially since he is supposed to be raised by a great merchant. I like a playboy finally falling in love trope if done well, but I think this one is not fully fleshed out.

The starting parts are very adorable, ML do get scary/weird at times but not to the point its unbearable (to my standards) And right now I am stuck in 29.7 because the website has problem with point purchases (I'm unable to continue at the peak of cliffhanger alas _ (:3)

Spoiler

Honestly at times I wished MC would end with mr knight, because crown prince can get too intense... You can tell his childhood seriously messes up his head. But this is that type of novel after all.

I can't wait to be able to continue reading it to the end!!

This is potentially one of my new favorites :) <<less

Well come on, I went to read this novel because of manhwa, honestly I ended up reading the novel much more than manhwa. When I went to read I thought it was a novel, of course it still is, but I found it more like a shonem ai than a novel in itself. I saw a lot of people talking badly about this work I was sincerely confused by the criticism, because from the moment I started reading this novel, it became my favorite. I sincerely like the protagonist and... more>> his choices, I also like the protagonist's way of acting. Good if you are going to read this novel expecting a <<less

Well.... I have mixed feelings.

The story itself focus more on the political part and the different characters're story. Which made it really interesting. And I do like how the writer made every single detail into something relevant and important part of the whole story. But, the love itself wasn't the main focus. So honestly the story more shounen ai or yaoi fanservice categori than a true bl.

I was very disappontid about the outcome of the love interests, because they had so much motential. They were interesting, yet the writer neglected... more>> some of them. And eventhough first I supported the ML...... Honestly, he caused more trouble to the MC, then being an actual help.

What made it interesting in the first half of the story, and actually could make sense, the writer completly abadoned it. Because the main (hidden) focus first was, that our MC has to understand that there is love even for him, and in this world he will find it. Which made a lot of sense, because of the game's genre, the background story etc.

But the novel's second part was just so much different. Yes, I enjoyed the political drama, but it didn't make sense. Like to different story idea tried to became one. And because of the first half, which was dinamic, fantastic, interesting, loveable, I just wished that the MC ending up with an other character (spoiler: with Alex, or in an alternative univers with Lowelle). It would make so much more sense.

The ending was rushed, confusing, I almost skipped it. I just wished for a spin off. Or something more, a bit more detailed future, maybe a wedding scene. Literally anything.

But I still liked the novel. The characters are much more complex, not just stereotypical. The story itself at the begining wasn't that confusing, maybe because of the mtl, the second half was much more chaotic. <<less
