Chief Forensic Pathologist for the Police Department, Ji Chan, is transported to another dimension and wakes up as the shameless and insolent niece of the distinguished Duke Lu.

Blessed with a visage as fair as a flower and a figure as light as a feather, the original Ji Chan is unfortunately ignorant beyond measure. She spends her days dreaming of marrying into wealth. Eventually, she becomes a pawn in her cousin’s scheme, and finds herself in bed with her future cousin-in-law.

And then she kicks the bucket…

On their wedding day, Si Qi offers Ji Chan two choices.

First, she can take the title of the Si family’s Young Madam, but she won’t be allowed to bear his children.

Second, they could divorce with him offering her a generous settlement of ten thousand taels of silver, henceforth each would live their own life.

Ji Chan chooses the second.

And so, she becomes a discarded wife.

*

Four years later, Si Qi, now Deputy Chief of the Supreme Court, is confronted with a perplexing case that torments his sleep for two relentless days and nights.

Overwhelmed by a sense of duty, Ji Chan comes forward to lend a helping hand.

From that point on, his haughty demeanor shatters. He finds himself regularly lurking outside Ji Chan’s doorstep, pleading through tear-streaked cheeks for her assistance with autopsies. Unashamedly, he vows to shoulder responsibility for Ji Chan and their child.

One-line summary: The daily life of the chief female coroner raising her son and solving cases.

The MTL is utterly difficult to read so I'm putting this on hold for now.

This story seems to be focused more on case solving via forensics criminology. FL uses her modern knowledge of forensics to dissect corpse and solve mu*der cases.

Romance is minimal so far and I kinda dislike the ML.

ML and FL both were victims of a conspiracy and slept together. ML is forced to marry the FL for the sake of reputation. ML then divorces the FL almost immediately after the wedding was done. He was very callous,... more>> didn't care much about the FL and very rude imo. He also wrote a contract with her saying he would pay her to take care of any child should she get pregnant and that he wanted no part in the kid's life.

FL then moves away and becomes a coroner.

ML will encounter FL again since he becomes a part of the investigation team in the Capital for mu*ders and FL was recommended by her usual boss in the province she was in. As it is rare to have female coroners, she disguises as a man. FL will meet ML for several cases before he finds out her identity and the fact that he has a son.

I have several problems with this novel up to this point.

1. The Emperor in the novel is depicted as a young beautiful man and he appears ALOT. It seems as though he's so free to patrol the city and check out the coroner's work on corpses too. It is so weird.

2. The characters in the are so in awe of FL's skills and letting her do whatever she wants with no repurcussions even after her being female is revealed; which is very strange. Seems like a plothole to me.

3. FL tells her 3 year old baby the truth about his father not being there for him. 3 year old boy nicknamed Fatty/Plumpy is a genius lol. He doesn't want to acknowledge his father which is valid but I feel his interaction with the Si family to be very confusing as well.

4. The ugly Patriachal views of the Si family (ML's family) and the Emperor is disgusting imo. When they find out ML has a child with the FL, their first thought is to take the child back into the family. The way they talk about the child as if he's a commodity and without consent of the FL in the beginning is annoying. ML had to tell his family members that he was the one who signed a contract to release his custody over the unborn child before they relented and thought of asking FL's thoughts on the matter. If it weren't for that I think the family might've taken the child back by force. The Emperor himself too asks ML if he wants the child back and that if ML wanted, Emperor could help. Like wtf. Do they not think that the FL has the right to raise the child herself since she legitimately divorced the ML and has raised the child all these while? Si Family also really wants the child since child is a genius and they keep mentioning that by going back the kid has better resources. Then they realize, 'oh FL has been taking good care of the child since he has good upbringing.'

Anyway dropping it for now till there are more translated chapters. <<less

So far its fun and her son is a smart cute kid that is a delight to read about. The ML is smart but the way he dealt with their issue at the start of the novel is quite cold and selfish, made me hold a grudge, lets see how he behaves

It's a 3.5

Its a very interesting story. Focus is more on resolving mu*der crimes but romance. Plot is ok though most of the arcs focused on crime solving. The romance part is not really satisfying; though ML express remorse and chase after FL, all of that seems more like an afterthought.
