Kurokawa Risa is an ordinary office worker, who has practiced lots of cooking while living alone. One day, she wakes up in another world, with a concerned little spirit hovering over her! She has apparently been transported to a magical, spirit-filled realm by the will of the goddess, and there is no known way for her to go back. She is taken in by a wealthy couple, and they and her new spirit helper treat her with nothing but kindness. There is one problem, however–the food in this magical world is gross! Risa insists on helping the household cooking staff prepare a traditional meal from her world, and it is a big hit with her hosts. Soon Risa knows what she should do in this new world; she should open a cafe and treat everyone to delicious food!

To be honest, the story is a solid 4-star, nothing too new or ground breaking; however, upon seeing the score, I have to log in the give a 5 star to balance that 1 star rating. It's just too difficult for me to see how a nice story like this can get such low review. I guess slice-of -life story with a not too turbulent plot is not everyone's cup of tea.

The plot is simple, straightforward and has been seen in many stories: a girl get isekai-ed to another world; this time, the God summons her, instead of the repetitive truck-san or some country's ploy to take advantage of the summoned. Unlike the contemporary convoluted novels that were saturated with illogical politics, betrayal and revenge, I'm-so-OP but desire a slow life which eventually ends up becoming the center of world, or ridiculous pointless harem of brainless girls, this novel is tame and normal, nothing too grand and complex to understand. SHe encounters normal nice people, decides to live her life there and along the way, improves the incomprehensibly horrendous cuisine of that world by bringing Earth's see delicious food there. During her time as cafe owner, she met new people, develops relationship and integrated into another world's life. One interesting thing to point out is that instead of the usual oh-so-amazing Japanese cuisine, the author incorporated the Western cuisine into the story, which actually made sense in the European setting.

how the hell a world with ambient medieval European setting can have such a backward cuisine. It is just beyond me how people can still eat bland food and still feel comfortable with it. If you manage to turn your brain off on that little nitpick, you're good to go with story.

In short, this novel is an enjoyable read, easy to digest, completely perfect as a way to escape stress after a hard work day. To me, it's like a cup of oolong tea to enjoy during my break time. If you are a fan of novel with a mix of cuisine and isekai, or simply want to escape from the cancerous contemporary novels, this is for you. If you seek thrill, unnecessary intricate plot or some OP self-insert bullshit, just press the back button. You won't miss anything. <<less

Wow, I just read the prologue and I was amazed it was so non imaginative.

As I said, I've only read the prologue, so I won't rate this story. But what I saw, was a protagonist with the same personnality than all Japanese girls who cook. The polite, slighty distant, obediant, caretaking pretty girl that everybody loves.

So, a little magic and she arrives in another world (must be Western looking so the author can go crazy with the names of the cities and characters and create cliched western people). In this... more>> world, the sumary says, food is bland, right, in a country of magic and (I imagine) a long history, no cook has ever had any creativity.

But on the prologue, there is a presentation of the main characters and their favorite food made by the MC. So here is some food that no cook ever created before the MC's arrival: egg rolls (aka omelette), hamburger steak (aka minced meat), stew,... Right.

While I love a good cooking story, I dislike rehashed ones. <<less

It's very bland. I don't know if it's the way the dialogues are written or just the story in general, but it feels very robotic. MC is the typical polite and proper young japanese woman, she seemed a bit interesting at first (her motivation to introduce delicious food in this new world since she can't go back to hers) but at the same time, she accepted extremely quickly her new situation without much emotion. In a few chapters, she gets transported to a new world, gets adopted to a high... more>> class family, meet royals, impress everyone with basic cooking skills then conveniently start a café because of her new uncle who is of course an authority figure and can give her unlimited money.

I usually love cooking novels and food p*rn descriptions, but here it feels bland and uninteresting. The characters keep on screaming delicious to everything but I don't feel hungry at all.

Give it a try for a few chapters, maybe you'll like it more than me. <<less
