Currently, I'm at Chapter 7. I'm putting this on hold because the genre seems to carry undertones of 'church teaching is the most correct way of life,' or 'anything deviating from church ideology is heresy and must be destroyed,' or 'the church's organization appears good on the outside, but in reality, they abuse their power over the commoners,' etc.Some reviews on NovelUpdates suggest that this is a poor version of "Release that Witch." I'm unsure, but it's possible. So, the story started when MC (Luo Cheng), your typical university college guy, encountered a mysterious ball of light being eaten by a black fish (I think it's a carp) near the lake. The ball of light, or we can say pearl, melted into his skin and then merged into his body, making this pearl his own. From there, the pearl acts like a newbie pack for him to boost his cultivation at the early story.

As for the revealed cultivation levels, there is No cultivation > Amateur 9 - 1 pin > Professional 9 - 1 pin >.... There are other terms used but not elaborated so much, like Body realm, DanQi realms, and Aura realms. Also, terms like Might One Invulnerable Physicalities.

Okay, talking about relationships, he's got a few good friends from dormmates and also from his previous high school. As for the girlfriend, he's got one (up to what I read at chapter 141), and this story emphasizes more on the relationship and cultivation going together.

In terms of the plotline, it's good, I guess. Why? This is one of the rare novels that have no courting-death young master and lacks conflict from the surrounding MC. Also, the storyline is steady, slow, and easy to follow because the plot jumps to another plot after finishing the previous plot cleanly. It follows the typical ascending difficulty progress like fighting between schools, then between top schools, then fighting the country representing the country, and so on.

And also, there are bad things about this. For someone who likes an MC that is given a massive power boost, this one is not for you. You can't expect the MC to gain a powerup that can one-shot his enemies. Although he somehow gets a cheat code (the pearl), based on what others have reviewed, it's not helping him so much, and the pearl is acting like a flintstone that is used to start a fire on branches. As you progress in the story, the pearl loses its benefit, and MC must rely on himself to advance, and somehow his rival and the others have faster speed cultivation than MC. So yeah, it's bad if you like power-craving-based-system novels.

For me, I'll keep this one on my 'HOLD LIST' due to my current mood preventing me from enjoying this. <<less

Usually, when a novel gets added to my ON-HOLD list, it's because the novel's main theme doesn't suit my current mood, but somehow this one was added even though it matches my current mood. It's because I was craving a good system-based novel and found this, and I disappointed myself. So I can't easily dismiss this in case I accidentally reread it in the future, so I added it to the list.

I expected something like Re:Monster, a type of power-grinding system, but suddenly it goes through multiple worlds, which is something that I didn't expect, and I stopped reading.

Some of the reasons also include a few plot holes I found (up until chapter 215). Maybe it's because I skimmed some of the pages, or maybe it's actually a plot hole, I don't know. Here are some plot holes:

If I recall correctly, the MC already made the squirrel his servant and brought it with him when he traversed the world, but why did he say somewhere in the novel that the squirrel is still staying at the tree?

The MC's first world is a blue planet, which is similar to Earth. Then, he goes to the summoner world. Then he goes somewhere else (I forgot). Then he goes to Earth (based on what the system said). Earth is not a blue planet. But somehow, the MC saw the streamer girl again and reminisced about his memory when he first spawned in the jungle and lived with the squirrel?

What is folded space? I don't recall any explanation for folded space.

The POV of the MC somehow changes to the POV of others, which makes me lost in reading.

The cheat system where he used and built up his power somehow skipped a lot of interaction with it, and it's hard to know his progress unless we read between the lines where he fights the enemies. <<less
