Transmigrated into a Stepmother of Male Lead and Teaching My Lazy Son how to Study

Description

Shen Cui unexpectedly transmigrated into a classical novel, becoming the beautiful yet malicious stepmother, Shen Cuihua, as described in the book. Her stepson, Mu Yunchuan, is destined to achieve great success in the imperial examinations, rise to a prominent position, and repay her a thousandfold for the wrongs she committed in the past.

Without hesitation, Shen Cui prepared to escape that very night. However, unexpectedly, the “Examination Foster System” went online!

[Task 1: Choose one son to nurture from the two sons. ( Lazy Biological Son ) or ( Genius Step-son )] [Task 2: Master cooking skills and household management to become an outstanding mother in the classical examination style.] [Task 3: Choose a teacher for the son, with qualifications not lower than 85.]

Shen Cui didn’t dare to provoke the original male lead, so she could only choose her original son from the book — a lazy, chubby and ignorant child — to a comparison foster. She pulled him out of bed and said, “Son, it’s time to study.”

“Mama, I don’t know how to read!”

Regardless, she forced him to study. If he didn’t achieve fame, her eldest son would make sure she and her son were both finished!

This novel explains in such rich detail how the ancient Chinese examination system worked, and it does so in a way that keeps me fully engaged, unlike other novels where I tend to skip over historical parts. I genuinely felt the stress and pressure of the challenges the characters faced. The frustration they experienced became my own. I love every character, even the original male lead, because at the end of the day, he's still a part of the story’s world and not just a villain. And let’s be real—if... more>> someone hurt you repeatedly, would you forgive them that easily? I absolutely love the main character. She works so hard, and I deeply admire her strength and resilience.

Btw, the male lead is so random?? It honestly caught me off guard. But don't worry there is no romantic plot in the main story. <<less

Really nice slice of life novel. The action doesn't revolve around our MC, which is quite nice since most novels have their MCs be the center of attention.

Hebiroteshon wrote there is no romance, but in fact there is. Only it's in the extras. Her partner is expected.

Also I can't really agree that the ending is open. I would say it has a nice finishing touch

Spoiler

with her saying that marriage might be in sight

Also the main villain is a toilet demon XD take it with a pinch of salt

Very entertaining for a light leisure reading! It's suitable for readers who prefer rofan with no CP nor romance.

It's hooking enough for me to continue reading with the mtl (god, please have mercy on my English comprehension after this 🥲). Nevertheless, thank you Shanghai Fantasy group for translating the novel! Your efforts are commendable for us with no mandarin comprehension.

There are detailed descriptions of the ancient chinese's exam questions and answers, which can be quite serious but of course still on an enjoyable level. Plus readers can get the gist... more>> of how the ancient chinese scholar exam looks like (regardless if the author is historically correct or not, so please take it with a grain of salt)

The downsides, there are no obvious villains in the story and the MC journeys seems smooth sailing with little bumps along the ride. The ending is an open ending, with some questions left unanswered, so who knows, maybe there will be a sequel <<less

Very entertaining read!!

Each event brilliantly written, with no forced antagonists or s*upid system tasks or unnecessary drama, MC's family is pretty decent too!

Very much coming-of-age school-life kind of story with focus on the 'headmaster' - how the MC painstakingly care for each student, and how they reciprocate for her care, and form such sweet bond with each other - literally 'one for all and all for one'...

Much focus was on the exams, as that was the system was for, but all exam questions etc. were smartly explained with detailed description... more>> on thought process behind each answer...

Kudos to the author to write this story and the translator to share it with us! <<less

It was an enjoyable read. The MC and the people surrounding her felt real to me. I continously hoped for a good ending for them and got my wish. The fact that the system's purpose was to help improve the lives of the people affected by the protagonist's halo was already compelling to me but the author went beyond that and even considered the side of the original protagonist. It showed how well thought of this novel was.

I also appreciated how consistent the author was throughout the novel. The progress... more>> of the story was natural and the author really made sure that each of the characters received their due. <<less

This novel is like most ancient China novels but I ended up binging on all the translated chapters in 2 days and I'm on my way to read the mtl. It's a good read to pass time.

Like most slice of life novels that centre around a main subject - like cooking, childcare, business ect - the main subject of this novel is the MC raising her son to become a scholar and in the process becoming head mistress of a small school of teen geniuses. There's no face-slapping, no parasite... more>> relatives (except a sister-in-law who's quickly put in her place), no unnecessary drama. The MC is mostly concerned about her school and the plot revolves around upgrading it. <<less

10/10 novel! Very nicely paced and the ending was great.

This is a coming of age story for the side characters and focuses on the FL raising her little scholars. The overall flow of the story is good, very well paced with appropriate time skips. There was even a plot twist which was unexpected and unique to the novel!

Though the author was a bit draggy with the explanation on their exam contents but just skip the few paragraphs and everything is great!

I thought there would be a cooking and business... more>> element part to the novel based on the summary but it's a strictly child rearing and scholar raising novel.

We got to read until the children got married and had children of their own which was just perfect. And the ending was good too. Ended on an unexpected note but a good one nevertheless.

Some parts of the translation was...a bit off but overall ok. <<less

I personally did not like the ending that much but it was a good novel. Good characters, good story, good progression. You can try this if you are looking for a laid back slice of life.

Spoiler

I especially liked how MC interacted with the system. It was fun to watch the system being a soulless AI in the beginning and then slowly start to "upgrade" itself and become more human.

I love this story.

It's simple, straightforward and no face slapping dog-blood drama.

I recommend this to you if you just want a cozy read. It's a story of a woman who transmigrated to a novel, raised 'children' (blood and non blood) and improve her school.

Characters are more fleshed out and you really get to know them.

Spoiler

The ending was sweet but I was hoping for a little more fleshed out story on what happened to the rest of the shen family, the kids and the school. Also the little ruler of that world really grew on me. I also wanted to know what happened to the side couple/s and teacher Luo

Over all I give it 4.5.

The missing.5 is bec. There are certain chapters where the descriptions of the characters get confusing due to translation but it's a minor issue.

Kudos to the translation team. Thank you for bringing this story. <<less

It's a bit of rinse and repeat, but it can be enjoyable.

One of my gripes with the story is ... more>>
Spoiler

how it tries to portray as MC as a good samaritan yet most if not all the people she helps end up being peerless genuises and/or rich young masters. A few times is fine, but more than 3 and the image crumbles. Not like it's MC fault anyways, but is something I've seen happen in other novels that eventually break the magic.

Another one is

the rinse and repeat part, the process of recluiting students and making them shine gets quite repetitive and with zero novelty even though the process could have started in another way.

A great novel that manages to dodge some over used tropes such as obvious romance or OP lover who fixes everything, over powered MC, and stealing everything from the original MC. There is good comedy and interesting twists through out. The characters are dynamic and grow through out.

The only down side is the translation which is ok at the start AI level in the middle and gets good again at the end. There are many gender mistakes he instead of she and she instead of he.

The author also uses different... more>> names for characters. That may be easy for a Chinese reader to understand but is hard for a western reader. Like nicknames or suddenly using their last name or first name even when displaying who is talking. <<less
