The Highest Bounty is a space Xianxia.

The MC is an extremely talented kid with a mysterious origin who obtains a system and "the ultimate martial art" and wants to become a space pirate. On the side he is a talented pharmacist who produces perfect products every time and makes the highest rank pharmacists ooh and ahh at his talent. He comes from a common planet in a rank 2 civilization (out of 5) and the civilizations are starting to make moves for something behind the scenes.

The writing/characters are about what... more>> you would expect out of Xianxia. His desk mate/best friend happens to be the planets best lawyer who helps him get out of trouble with plenty of arrogant face slapping. He gets noticed by the talented young pretty teacher who has a powerful master as she happens to hang out at the public pharmacy rooms when MC is around. In the virtual reality fighting ring (where he has a perfect win ratio) he has already attracted the daughter of a big pirate and a mysterious woman with high authority who gifts him battle armor. He crash lands on a planet in time to meet a stranded rich girl with a secret past and huge potential who immediately decides to join his crew, and is worried about him constantly / giving him stuff because she "doesn't want to lose a good friend" (who she met yesterday).

The fighting / power levels are completely made up. The world has ranks for power that has bloodlines that grant powers once you break their gene limits. A strong pirate in his civilization is mentioned to be rank 6. Around chapter 50ish the MC breaks into rank 2, but of course he has the body of a rank 3, techniques of a rank 4, and overall power of a rank 5. And then he fights a rank 6 in head on combat (his first real life non-monster fight) and says "Who knew that a Rank 6 Gene Body would be that much stronger than himself" (who knew 6 > 5, ignoring that he is actually a rank 2). The author made a world with ranks that apply to everyone but the MC.

There is constant plot armor developments. Such as the MC using a technique that will kill him to win a fight (ignoring his super ai's advice) and something will appear to save him. He not just ignores the AI when he wants but he also doubts it when it clearly knows more than him about a subject. He gets sudden power ups when facing superior opponents. And his character is "good guy" pirate where he will fight dumb fights to save teammates.

This is a "junk food Xianxia". It has a genius MC with all the other characters existing to fawn over him as he impresses them and the powerhouses around. It has already foreshadowed the pharmacy tournament arc, the face slapping 'outsmarting' the federal government, and ending up with a crew of all pretty talented women who love him.

The story wont surprise anyone, if you like Xianxia it may be worth a read, otherwise skip this one. <<less

4/5 Stars for pure entertainment value.

Is a good entertainment read as long as you don't try to be logical. Also I have a problem with the translator translating the main characters name wrong. I am not sure how he got "Gu Ding" it should be "Lu Fei" lol.

EDIT: How do I edit stars? I forgot to click it.

3/5 Stars.

Characters: Every recurring character has a secret past which is redundant.

World Building: imagine One Piece world in Futuristic Sci-fi setting, replace oceans with space, devil fruits with gene cultivation thingy and world building is done.

Story premise: Granted I only read till c108, but from the bits and pieces I gathered so far, it isn't that important what the main story is, you just have to read MC's journey that's all.

Plot Armor: Ridiculous (not in a bad way) unstructured I might say.

GLARING HOLES: ... more>>
Spoiler

1. So early in the story MC sets out on his journey to become the space pirate on his Kittyhawk model ship; should I say MC is super dumb or should I say the Super AI in his possession is glitched or something because YOU CAN'T BECOME A PIRATE ALONE. You could argue that he sets out to gather his crew but people with even a iota of sense wouldn't do s*upid things that he does while justifying it as Oh! I am going to become a space pirate anyway so it doesn't matter if I blow up this mansion.

2. MC and his first crew member conveniently it's a girl (wink) blows up some stuff while escaping from a virus infected abandoned planet in grey sector. Govt. Was spying on them using satellite and captured this and put a bounty on them. He blew up the shipyard and research lab/power station so that to stop a supervillain from leaving the planet and spreading the virus to other planets. Now think for a second, if the govt has satellites monitoring the planet and can see him blowing stuff up but it cannot detect the supervillain building the spaceship to leave the planet? Isn't that dumb? Also how the hell did govt get a hold of his identity? If you can argue that the satellite can only pick up things on open space and not on the planet surface think again he was inside a spaceship. How did it scan him and his lady friend as the ones who blew those things up?

Pure entertainment novel. MC with plot armor and convenient secret past. His crew members all special with some hidden past, secret or just general OPness. Fast progression through ranks so that he could fight stronger people.

That's about it for now. NO BIG GLARING HOLES for. If u r bored and don't mind some simple entertainment then read this. If u don't a little dumb and stubborn kind of MC who tries to help his teammates likes a shonen protag then still try it. He acts up sometimes but usually his... more>> super ai helps him make a plan so he doesn't screw up. If he screws up then his mysterious body helps him get rid of any problems. <<less
