Wrote this review since I finished the book MTL and not many people reviewed it yet. Basically, this novel is a better version of God Level Demon, if anyone has ever read that. It removes a lot of repetitive and pointless sections from the novel but keeps a relatively similar plotline.

First off, the MC is evil. If you don't like that, then don't read it. It goes anywhere from scamming his own parents to wiping out entire universes. The only people safe from him is his harem, but that is... more>> it. Even they are bullied a bit sometimes though.

Second, this is a comedy novel from start to finish. It starts out with a bunch of laughs and ends the novel with a bunch of laughs. Most of the novel is lighthearted and pretty funny other than a few portions, so if you want a good comedy novel then definitely read this.

Honestly, at the end of the day, all I can say is that this is a very good comedy novel. Don't go into a good comedy novel expecting a good mystery or something. Try this novel out for at least 50 chapters, if you don't like it by then, then feel free to drop it. <<less

Some parts of this novel are absolutely hilarious and deserves a 5, but many parts in this novel are subpar and deserve a 3. Overall 3-3.5 in my opinion. Some thoughts:

  1. Its really hard to read this novel at times. The MC is an actual villain and scumbag, and his actions are hard to stomach at times. He will shamelessly scam anyone and anything for personal gain even if they helped him before or is his family/friends (some female love interests excluded).
  2. The author has no sense of scale at times. This is particularly offensive in the first 300 chapters or so, where the author often leaves bare-bones settings, describes planet sized events in just 1 city as if nothing else exists, random masses of commentators existing who knows where.
Overall, the novel... more>> is really funny at times, but other times, its really painful to read. <<less

Good start, and then it's boring.

This is a comedy, and one shouldn't think of it in any other way. It's basically one of those transmigration + system + getting points for doing evil deeds novels. The main difference from other novels like this is that any kind of evil will do, I guess.

The start was quite nice (was it first 15 or first 40 chapters, I can't recall, but I think it was 30-something chapters), and I really laughed the whole way, but then some competition began, and the level... more>> of the humor deteriorated. Unfortunately, it also remained at that level for the next 300 chapters I read. Honestly, I've been thinking for a while now that some running jokes are quite cringy, for example

Spoiler

the way MC constantly shoots people's balls...

[collapse]

The characters are nothing special, which is as expected from a comedy. They're just shallow cliches, and don't expect more.

There's some harem, but I wouldn't expect much given the tags and the fact that
Spoiler

the only girl whose feelings MC swindled out of her got taken away and MC c*ck-blocked the moment he was about to have s*x with her.

[collapse]

Plot is pretty much boring most of the time.

The setting seems to be being made up as the author writes.

You can give it a try if you want, I guess. If you feel like sticking with it past chapter 50, then good for you. This is one of those comedies where you either enjoy the humor or you don't enjoy anything. <<less

This is a funny/light-hearted novel so if you're looking for some action it's better if you don't read it.

The only complaint I have with this novel is that the difficulty for the MC is too low. He always seems to have connections with the top level people.

I went into this with few expectations and honestly I loved the first few hundred chapters. They had plenty of comedy and lots of interesting parts and the gradual development was just fine, he went from one place to another without truly excessive OPness and had to rely on his wit for a lot of things.

Sadly, it didn't keep this up for too long. After a few hundred chapters, he just kept on getting more and more OP with close to zero actual developments or progression. It all ends up... more>> as an one trick pony with nothing much to show. Sure, a proper translation might up the enjoyment a bit but I don't believe it would be much better.

This is a novel that is exceedinly similar to "god level demon". It has some things that aren't as bad as in the god level demon novel, for one the women aren't really annoying, they're barely ever present nor relevant but at least they're helpful. Also, the battles aren't as rinse and repeat, but honestly it's more like there are no true battles in this novel, they're all the protagonist instant killing others. I mean, usually when you get screwed over by some way stronger person, it would take a while to get revenge, but this protagonist never truly loses against anyone and will take revenge shortly, sometimes in a chapter or a few, sometimes a dozen chapters or two dozen, but it's nonetheless ridiculously quick, which really makes it lack any punch since why would we care if they're clearly not his opponents in the first place?

I'm going to dig in a bit now and there are sure to be spoilers so I'll just keep it all in a spoiler bubble:

Spoiler

This novel starts out fun, the MC is shameless and funny, always screwing people over, scamming them and never letting anyone pull the rug from out under him. What sucks is that it's a one-trick pony. The author never really deviates from his comfort zone, exploring possibilities. Instead it's just he protagonist over and over and over again doing the same things until we, the readers, are so tired of it we feel like puking. Doesn't help that he always uses the same attack methods for every situation, first it was shooting balls, then his skill "smile" that makes chaste women back away from him in fear and blank out which allows him or his rabbit to ambush them, then it's his sword skill that he just spams every time. He just buys everything from the system and never learns anything himself, not even once. It's also so easy to learn all these skills that it feels boring.

It feels way too forced, like everyone around him are idiots playing right into his hands every time. Meanwhile, he pretends to be a good person despite his system, it's supposed to be funny that he's so shameless he won't even admit his actions, instead turning black into white, but it just ends up being dull. In the earlier chapters, villain points were mainly gained through screwing people over in various ways, later on it's all about killing people and ruining countless universes, unleashing umentionable evil and torment upon people by ignoring calamities he could've stopped. I mean, that's fine but it's just not innovative or interesting. Even scamming ends up being a show of power rather than wit, forcing people to cough up cash with his backing. He talks about living off women all the time and trying to be as shameless as possible. It's just uninteresting and uneventful.

Also, I like when MCs are OP but that doesn't mean they should never suffer any hardship whatsoever. He's more like a child playing a game, with resurrection items and god modes. He literally from the start has resurrection coins that resurrect him and turn him invincible for days after death, even in the endgame chapters he can still use them albeit without invincibility effects, there's never any real threat to his life.

That aside, the entire world and power structure is all messed up. At the start, it was fine but later on it just gets out of hand. He climbs far too quickly and it makes the culitvation setting feel useless. Once he leaves his beginning universe for the multiverse, he's already strong and gets stronger real quick until almost no one can pose any real danger to him (not that they ever could what with his resurrection coins and invincibility after death), then when he leaves for the place above the multiverse, it ends up once again with him powering up ridiculously fast until the end of the novel.

Most other cultivation novels have various events, everything from meetings/gatherings, clan clashes, sect clashes, lots of secret realms, auctions, potion events, some cultivation, insights, mystery unraveling and so on. This novel has none of that. It's just the same thing from start to finish, sure, there are some events but nothing interesting or truly fun, he's going solo after the few hundred chapters, he belongs nowhere and even if there are a few things like going into some inheritance or other thing, it ends real quick and with no struggle, because the MC just powers through it.

[collapse]

All in all, I can only say that this novel is a disappointment. While god level demon wasn't perfect, it at least had some variation, the protagonist had to use his wit, there was plenty of secret realms and fun ways to screw people over and he wasn't omnipotent or indestructible. He was a bastard, sure, but not useless or idiotic like this protagonist. The power system was more fleshed out and gradual and the development decently paced. Crappy ending just like this novel had, but that's kind of what to expect with most chinese novels as they tend to end in a rush after the author loses interest.

Do I recommend this novel? If you want a scumbag, shameless protagonist that doesn't think of anyone but himself (even if he can get mad when some people are touched) and that loves using the same formula for comedy a thousand times, then sure, this is for you. It's not all bad, the first few hundred chapters were quite enjoyable and I did laugh a fair bit at his unreasoanble behavior even towards the end, but it gets old quick, at which point you can still laugh a bit now and then but it's not that interesting. 3/5 stars. <<less

This book is very funny and hilarious at the start, but as the story arrives at chapter 700+, the story gets kind of boring. It is very good to be able to get me to read this many chapters without getting bored, as each chapter is funny. Although I normally don't like harem novels, this is an exception since there isn't too much romance in the story and the MC makes the romance funny.
