Fang Zichen is an outstanding top student who suddenly finds himself transported to another world, where he gains a male wife and a son.

The male wife was forced into marriage.

The son came as part of a “buy-one-get-one-free” deal.

Fang Zichen: “At eighteen, I’ve got a wife, a son, and a warm bed. This is the peak of life! Who can top that?”

However, reality hits hard: The house is empty, and the top student doesn’t know how to do anything, so he has no choice but to carry heavy sacks at the docks in town.

The villagers pity Zhao ger, saying his life is bitter. After toiling like an ox for the Ma family for twelve years, they sold him and his son to Fang Zichen.

Fang Zichen, an outsider with nothing to his name except his handsome face, doesn’t even own a scrap of land. He lives in a crumbling, abandoned house from the village chief’s family. He is so poor that even flies refuse to fly into his home.

Zhao ger had truly jumped from one pit of fire into another—how tragic!

But as it turns out, the couple thrives.

Zhao ger starts a business, selling roast duck and sausages that become popular in town. Meanwhile, Fang Zichen returns to his studies, passing each imperial exam step by step

And despite all this, he still comes home to wash Zhao ger’s feet.

Villagers: “Is this even a pit of fire? I’d jump into ten of these if I could!”

Fang Zichen happily raises his son, living his best life. His classmates and friends see the child and can’t help but praise, “Your son looks just like you!”

At first, Fang Zichen doesn’t pay much attention—until his stepson turns six, growing more handsome by the day, and increasingly familiar.

Before Fang Zichen can demand an explanation from Zhao ger, he stumbles upon a shocking truth. Zhao ger has always had a white moonlight in his heart, someone he’s never forgotten all these years—and that Fang Zichen is just a substitute.

Fang Zichen: “…”

“Zhao ger, I’ll f*ck your ancestors!”

In a fit of rage, Fang Zichen scribbles a divorce letter, snatches the child, and flees without a second thought. Meanwhile, back in the capital, Zhao ger clutches the divorce letter, his eyes bloodshot, and coughs up blood in despair

He hunts down his runaway husband, cornering him in a stinking latrine.

“Either come back with me, or I’ll drown you in this latrine.”

Fang Zichen refuses to yield: “…The latrine stinks too much. Fine, I’ll go back with you.”

Fang Zichen decides to return to the capital to confront this white moonlight—only to find out who it really is.

Fang Zichen: “…Well, I’m doomed.”

The white moonlight is handsome, brilliant, unbeatable in both wit and strength—utterly untouchable.

Fang Zichen’s only thought: Retreat!

not bad to read if you turn of your brain. But honestly, I don't like the MC.

let alone having a child, I don't think he's fit to be in a commited relationship yet.

... more>> he's too self centered, a typical ego-centric young master that never had to take another person's feelings into consideration.

and ML is a whole baggage himself. He had such a traumatic past, he needed atleast a person to talk about things deeply. But MC just seem to not be a avle to settle down to have a serious conversation. Its always circle back to eccentric statements like "are you moved? Did you love me too much?" yadda yadda.

once or twice, its endearing, but always? Its pure exhausting. He knows ML has abandonment and separation issue but he doesnt seem to think its necessary to address it and ask whats really in ML's mind.

im not even gonna mention a large part of the cause of ML's anxiety is MC himself, like MC literally forced himself on ML, albeit unknowingly, but its another can of wormhole I dont want to unpack.

this story is fun, MC is not a bad person, per se. But he's too immature, and its emotionally exhausting to read about him, especially if you see it from ML's perspective.

Spoiler

im currently at ch302 and MC still doesnt know that Guaizai is his biological son. Many things seems so obvious to me but they get dragged out for so long. For reason I don't understand. For the drama, maybe. But istg this is getting too long winded.

if its not because I cant find another story, I would have stopped reading this one.

4.5⭐️

This was a solid five star for me when I was reading the first half, the MC was fun and interesting, he’s shameless and a braggart but he has the strength to back it up.

I also like that although the MC is very skilled and intelligent, you can still feel that he’s a modern teenager from a rich family with all the views and pettishness that comes with because if you really think about it, many modern luxuries weren’t available in those eras.

He’s actually pretty endearing because he has a... more>> heart and is willing to work hard for those he considers his which contrasts nicely with his playful and mischievous personality.

It’s the first time I also saw an MC missing his previous life and his family since oftentimes in transmigration stories, the MC has shallow relationships that makes it easier for the author to write.

The ML and the child were lovable characters too though I do wish we got more POV and scenes from the ML especially later on in the series.

I also like the MC and ML’s dynamic, the MC paves the way and the ML runs and organizes the logistics.

Overall, I really really really liked the first half with their daily life, character interactions, and relationship developments. There was no dull moment for me while reading the first half.

That said, this went down to 4.5 because of several things.

Spoiler

First, the author keeps on spoiling things :’) sometimes it’s in the author’s notes but other times it’s in the main text and it may be my fault I didn’t stop reading the author’s notes when I already saw there’s hints of spoilers, but it’s not like I can avoid it in the story.

Second, the latter half started to drag. I don’t mind the POV switches to give emphasis on the world building and characters, but a lot of the focus on the MC and ML’s POV were diverted away and what focus we did receive tended to be summaries and brief scenes.

Third, related to the second point, if you’re going to give focus to side characters and their stories, do it to the end. Don’t start threads that you’ll leave loose or half-heartedly tied up. For example, Lin Xiaoxia, he gets what’s supposed to be a bigger role story-wise in the latter half but we never see his POV or side of things. We don’t even get screen times, only brief mentions by the MC.

Fourth, I said the latter half dragged, but just when the story got good again and I was even crying, it was all ended hastily. It’s not the worst ending I’ve seen and there’s enough of a “closure” for me to not dock my rating down any lower, but it honestly wasn’t satisfying. So many questions left. So many what-ifs.

Lastly, there were plenty good storylines in the series that weren’t distributed properly throughout the latter half and that added to why that portion started to feel dragging, because you want to see some kind of interaction or scene or any kind of crumb of that line and all the author is writing is a summary of how and why MC and ML did this business and how it’ll definitely be a success.

Anyway, that aside, with how much I enjoyed the first half, I still recommend it. <<less

The premise is really good.

Despite the transmigrating to ancient times trope this story seems a bit different than others. The MC transmigrated with his whole body instead of waking up in a new one and there is a bit of a mystery concerning his and ML past. Additionally the MC is quite a shameless character and likes to joke a lot. The little bun is cute and not overly intelligent like in some other chinese stories. Even the ML despite the years of ab*se seems to have some spunk.

Looking forward... more>> to it.

The translation is pretty decent too. <<less

  • MC’s treats his “stepson” really well, it’s very endearing to read
  • MC is the one who transmigrated but it’s ML who’s taking the business route (usually it’s the one who transmigrated who does so it’s refreshing to read)
  • ML has a very resilient personality. He suffered so so much before meeting MC so I can’t help but cheer him on
Dislikes

  • MC’s a good dad and a loving husband but I don’t like his personality—he’s too self confident, a rogue, rash, always handles fights with his fists, etc. I understand that he usually fights because he wants to protect his family but there were a lot of times that he fought not to protect his family—if he wasn’t the MC, he’ll probably already be in jail
Overall

  • It’s a good read especially in the beginning. I couldn’t stop reading because I was cheering MC and ML on, wishing they’ll succeed and have a better life.
  • Note to self
    Spoiler

to continue reading? It’s okay but 100 chaps in, I’m not as interested anymore because I dislike mc’s personality

This story is super fun — a rough but really heartwarming look at being a dad at 18. Honestly, it’s so funny. The MC is straightforward, kinda chaotic, but a genuinely good dad. I felt so many emotions reading this. I’m close with my own dad, so seeing the MC take care of his kid like that made me kinda miss him, lmao.

I also grew up in a village, so there’s this familiar vibe I can’t really explain while reading it. The MC isn’t overpowered or anything—he’s clumsy but super... more>> charming. He’s great at talking too, and I totally get why his kid adores him. I kept laughing at their interactions—it’s genuinely entertaining.

Since it’s still early, there’s not much to comment on yet, but I’m really looking forward to the Zhou Ger story. It’d be so sad if his husband doesn’t come back, so I’m excited to see how the other characters grow ^^ <<less

Love it! And I crave for more chapters!

I binge read from chapter 1 until chapter 173 for days straight with pending tasks and deadlines because that's how intrigued I am (~‾▿‾) ~

MC is so funny he's both OP and not OP if that makes sense

| ・ 〰 ・ | MC has just got a lot of free time in his hands, too much energy, short attention span, with a ton of money on his hands in the modern world that's why he engages in too many extra curricular activities such... more>> as painting, equestrian, and taekwondo, combined with quick boredom he switches to the next activity that interests him, that's why he's OP when he brings that knowledge on his transmigration.

MC transmigrated with his pajamas without a golden finger other than his sharp mouth, childish & narcissist attitude and ADHD (≧▽≦)

He spoils his stepson he can't even bare to scold nor spank him. MC sucks at manual labor such as cooking, farming, forging, laundry, chopping firewood, waking up on time, or any basic things because he grew up rich with a ton of servants to do those things. Scared of bugs or anything icky. Other than lifting heavy things that he can do (≧▽≦)

He's OP when it comes to verbal attacks, boasting about himself such as his looks, body, height, and fighting skills (Cuz he has the skills to back it up), his intelligence cause he's a study tyrant, other than the mentioned above he's OP

It's a funny story with a plot, from rags to riches, and romance. I will let this novel marinate then comeback again to binge read. <<less
