One morning, I woke up to find myself in the world of an otome game.

I’ve been a company employee for twenty-five years, and I’m an alpha male with a family, but suddenly I’ve become a merchant boy named Glen Alford.

So this is the otherworldly reincarnation I heard about. But I don’t remember dying at all!

The world I’ve arrived in is the otome game “Eleanore!

In order to find a clue to return home, I entered the game’s stage, “Royal Sarun Afia Academy,” but I’m not even a mob, I’m “less than a mob”. I don’t care what it takes, I want to see my wife. I don’t have a single reason to stay in this world.

No matter who, what, or how they say, I’m going back to my own world!

This is the story of a forty-seven-year-old salaryman who set out to return from the game world to the real world.

This is just something I summed up from reading 98 chapters, but believe me when I say this....

This novel is interesting yet boring at the same time.

Why? Simple. His goal was to come back to his former world (is what he thinks), but somewhere along the way, you could say, he just bamboozled himself by being too, toooooooooo, immersed in his "present world". YES, "was", because duuuuuddeee, it's more than 350 chapters, and you would think there is some progress on his research to find the way back home, but... more>> no, he just straight up, if not incidentally, roping himself hard and "tied" to the point where I ask (tsukkomi) "WHERE THE FREAK DID YOUR DETERMINATION GO!?" "WHERE THE HECK IS THE PLOT!?" "WHY THE HELL DID THIS BECOME A MERCHANT STORY" "IS THIS STORY STILL GOING?? are you serious... please just end it already" "just because you set up the protagonist to be an OVERPOWERED MERCHANT PRODIGY BOY doesn't mean it's justified, that it's okay for you to make the story end up like this!" "GIVE ME BACK MY TIME!!!"

Man, I just can't.... I just, ughhh no, nononononono, NO. I get that addiction feeling when reading this WN but no... I'm not going to waste my time, reading 350 chapters, only to find out that everything I've read was only for nothing. Not quite nothing, but no proper wording comes to mind. So yeah, that's it.

Spoiler

oh boy! Did I hit it right all along. More than 640 chapters, and this thing is still ongoing. Ohhh how am I so glad I didn't waste my time on it.

As of two chapters in, in the middle of character introduction and world setup, I won't rate it but I do want to mention two things that bother me:

    • The merchant guild doesn't recommend students to school because there's no reason for merchants to go to school. Apprenticeship is fine for learning how to become a merchant, but a wider breadth of knowledge is useful to say the least, and the fact that it's a school attended by all the future nobles means that it's a perfect chance to make connections. This is just the most glaring example out of several that show the author's biased world-building.
    • In the same chapter the main character first mentions his wife to the reader and how much he loves her and misses her and wants to go back to her, he sees a 15-year-old girl and gets all nervous over how beautiful she is, with not even a thought back to his wife.
The basis of the story is pretty weak, and the title already seems like a fraud to me. It will probably only be interesting to people who like harem romcom in a fantasy school setting. Which I do, so I'll sacrifice and continue reading and update the review when enough has been translated to be sure.

Edit after chapter 4:

Spoiler

The very next chapter he meets a second heroine and compares both girls to his daughters while also thinking about how attractive they are.

While the main character treats it as an otome game setting, the reader should not think of this as an otome game novel at all. Think of it as a reincarnated smart (-type) protagonist gathering a harem of girls who are young enough to be his daughters.
