Then, one day, he stumbles upon a humanoid manufactured for espionage during the Third World War.
“I am Humanoid T0-LO225. It appears you have awakened me.
It is a pleasure to meet you. Would you grant me a name?”
Burdened by debt to the illegal syndicate ‘Taewoong,’ Chanwoo is paying it off through forced labor.
He takes T0-LO225 and reprograms the system to obey the organization.
‘Taewoong’ commands the unit to protect their mechanic, Chanwoo, and thus, the two begin to live together.
However…
“For a frail constitution like yours to fully recover, the consumption of sustenance is mandatory.”
“…I’d rather you just admit you stole it for my sake.”
“Yes. I stole it for you.”
How could a humanoid lie to a human and commit crimes without hesitation?
Chanwoo begins to sense that something is off about Thiel.
“It may seem sudden to say this, but your eyes… they appear clear and extraordinary.”
“Perhaps I was created for the sole purpose of liking you from the very beginning.”
To make matters worse—perhaps because he was designed for espionage—Thiel was also adept at seduction.
Even though he knows the machine is clearly acting on learned data with the ultimate goal of ‘protection,’ Chanwoo finds his emotions increasingly shaken.
Then, one day, Thiel offers a calm plea.
“Humans commonly claim that humanoids possess no soul.”
“Right. Because you don’t.”
“My thoughts differ. I believe a soul is something bestowed by a creator, a parent, or someone who loves you.”
“You’re speaking quite philosophically, which isn’t like you.”
“By a human loving something of their own volition, its soul is created. That is the conclusion I have reached while staying by your side.”
“…….”
“This is also the reason why you are called gods to us.”
He pulled Chanwoo, who had half-risen, into his embrace.
“You revived me when I was dead, and breathed life into me.
Now, please create a soul for me as well.”
***
A story of a mysterious humanoid who looks down on humans with pity,
and a human who finds humanity so repulsive he would rather become a machine himself.
