After Bai Yin’s mother passed away, her father quickly brought his mistress and illegitimate daughter to the family home, while young Bai Yin was sent to live with her grandmother in the countryside.

Years later, the family brought Bai Yin back home. Everyone assumed that she, having grown up in the countryside, would be unsophisticated and unable to fit in with high society.

But no one expected the stunning woman who stepped out of the car, wearing a light blue qipao embroidered with exquisite su embroidery peonies, with long hair cascading down her shoulders. Her delicate features were like misty landscapes, and upon closer inspection, her eyes and brows were breathtakingly beautiful.

She even outshone her half-sister, who had already gained some fame in the entertainment industry.

Bai Yin was only brought back to the family to replace her half-sister, who had already debuted, in a commercial marriage.

On the day of the wedding, the groom thought he was marrying a country bumpkin and ran away.

As the situation was about to turn into a farce, an old man named Chen, who had watched Bai Yin grow up, couldn’t bear to see her in such a state and called his grandson.

Half an hour later, a bright red sports car, covered in white roses, pulled up in front of the bride.

The man got out of the car, leaned against it, and grinned arrogantly, “Grandpa asked me to save the day. Am I the emcee or the best man?”

The emcee was embarrassed and said, “Right now…we’re just missing the groom.”

“…”

Bai Yin stunned everyone by exchanging wedding rings with Chen Huaixiao, a national heartthrob.

Her half-sister was so jealous that she almost scratched her palms raw.

*

As the prince of the Chen family conglomerate, Chen Huaixiao held immense power and influence.

Under his icy and noble exterior lay a cunning and ruthless mind, which had brought the conglomerate to the top in just a few years.

When he wasn’t wearing a suit, he loved extreme sports, rock climbing, and high-speed racing…

In the face of danger, he could still ride the edge with ease.

He even managed to turn his daredevil lifestyle into s*x appeal, attracting a horde of screaming female fans.

But then he settled down and stopped racing as much.

Until a photo surfaced…

Chen Huaixiao sat in the car, his mouth curved in a smile, absently playing with the qipao button on Bai Yin’s neck.

His eyes were filled with affection.

Bai Yin clung to him tightly, her face pressed against his neck, nervously looking back at the perilous cliff behind her.

In the face of adversity, the sun rose slowly.

The story of the cool and collected qipao girl and the sexy and domineering CEO.

“From now on, you are my cliff and my peak.”

It’s an okay story. Not something that I would re-read tho.

If written properly, I think the story would’ve turned out better.

IMO, Fl’s revenge could’ve been written better. The outcome didn’t give me any satisfaction.

And the amount of misunderstandings and lack of communication between the two leads are too much. It could’ve easily been solved if they both just talk it out.

The antagonist sometime after the second half was not someone I’ve expected, so great job for that.

Omg, this is the first time I write a review without finishing a novel. I'm just doing that, because since the beginning of the story we can see how the main couple are tr*sh and disgusting 🤮 and that fact really annoyed me...

It's the typical story about a cold and super handsome CEO x a stunning entertainment beauty.

But what really annoyed me was that...

Spoiler

... female lead was from a poor family but she decided to dress the better she could to meet with male lead that was in a gathering with his friends.
She sat next to him all anxious since she liked him for years. The women around male lead got jealous and complained how the smell of the cheap perfume of female lead was disgusting.
Male lead got close and sniffed her neck and then he said something like this: "Here is some money, buy new clothes, make up and perfume."

Omg, what a douche 🤮

Then, at the end of that gathering, male lead got drunk and was take back to the hotel by female lead. Even in that drunk state, they slept together.

But in the next morning, female lead heard male lead while sleeping, calling the name of his sweetheart ex-girlfriend 🤮 And he even admitted that both looked alike in appearance but had different personalities (while the sweetheart was innocent and pure, female lead was cunning and manipulative) and if not for their similar appearance, male lead wouldn't even pay attention to female lead (I read in some reviews spoiling about the fact that the real male lead's sweetheart was actually the female lead without him remembering it. I don't know if that's true, but that doesn't excuse him and he is still a tr*shy douche in my opinion, since he even admitted that he wouldn't think about female lead if she didn't have a similar appearance of his ex-girlfriend)

But guess what? Instead of female lead leaving him behind and never looking back, she decided to try to make he feel guilty for taking her v**ginity and asked for compensation (aka, he would own her a favor in the future) 🤮

Female lead wasn't such a great and good person to start of, but she got even worse, becoming more schemy and money and fame driven.

But while trying to be smart and schemy, she was s*upid instead. Because her dream was to become famous, rich and powerful so she could finally achieve happiness (if she was really smart and a good person, she would know that all those material stuff can't fully bring happiness)

Also, she couldn't even hold on to her pride, since instead of ignoring and avoiding male lead since that horrible night they slept together, she decided that if she couldn't have his love, she would have his body. So while pursuing his body, she couldn't stop having feelings for him. Girl, have some self pride! 🙄

What a match made in heaven! The man is a misogynist douchebag while the woman is a sly and manipulative money grabber.

Besides, I'm going to nitpick, like, What is wrong with that s*upid and not a bit creative title? 😅 "Replacing Sister to Marry into a Wealthy Family"?

Drama Tag is missing, this is among my least favorite type of romance, the misunderstanding, we can never talk like adults, let others influence my opinions kind of romance story.

It's really frustrating, not my type of story, but I was tricked with the missing DRAMA tag and the where is the COMEDY that was tagged in this story, this is wrong tagging and yes I went ahead and read it in mtl, good to know I will not read the official one, not my cup of the missing comedic tea,... more>> sorry.

If you don't like, you know the feisty, I don't like you, but actually I do female lead and cold (?) Ceo type male lead, who has like almost everybody thirsting after him, annoying villainesses, lack of communication and just plain s*upidity, this is not the story for you.

Yes, I know I'm harsh but I wanted the comedy that was tagged, not the wrongly edited missing dramafic shot that is this. This is not for me and reading it hoping for a good comedic romance story made it worse realising it early, while still continue reading it hoping for sweet romance ending till ch 80.

But I gave up and I just don't like the story, maybe you do, if you like to see how this burning tr*shcan ends. Btw somebody please edit this story remove the comedy and add drama, my edits just don't work it seems. <<less

If not smut, there're a lot of hints of smut. My imagination covered the gaps for me, thank you.

The plotline is good, there are no obvious villain, three different cliche plot merged in one

  1. father-mistress/mother-su*cide
  2. contract marriage/secret love
  3. traumatized MC-ML/sad childhood
The author tried their best to make it enjoyable and moving aside the plotholes, I enjoyed it. The whole "Huaige!" and Huaige's melting heart for his Xioa pig-braid is too sweet to complain, not to mention how he spoils her like a serious tsundere.

All in all, it's a good read.

I enjoyed this.

Unlike common novels where we either have either pure, kind FL, or FL who adamant on being a villainess, our FL here walks around the gray area.

She's not the world's kindest person, or the world's vainest person.

... more>> She's calculating. Sure, we had calculating FLs, but usually they always refused to use their "powerful fake husband" to rise into power. But this FL, she would literally use her body, in order to ask for her husband's favours.

But, our ML here isn't like any other doting ML. Sure, he's 'doting', but he refuses to be in part of FL's plans.

Which makes it interesting to me because usually we get doting husbands who will help their wives executing the perfect revenge behind the scenes, but this ML refuses to participate although he actually does though, just 'a bit' /spoiler]

And I liked that. It's just minor but it's refreshing.

Really. Sure it had your standard tropes,

  • Sad background story for both leads
  • Marriage of convenience/forced marriage
  • Bottom to the top journey
  • Slight OP FL (her being able to do everything flawlessly, although later, after the 'plot twist' we understood why she was able to be 'OP' although she was raised in a village
  • ML being the super mega rich powerful perfect guy fawned by the whole country
And a lot more cliche tropes. (All I can say is that the rest of the cliché tropes are used as the 'plot twists')

But personally I love cliché tropes, what matters to me is how the cliché tropes are used by the author to lead the plot.

The story is quite good and engaging enough for me to finish it pretty quickly (around 2 days), because I cant stop myself from clicking the next button, so for me that's why it deserves the 5 star. Simple, not too complicated, easy to follow plot, you have 'tragic' and comedic scenes just enough that you don't feel the bore. It's one of those showbiz drama that doesn't really rely on the netizens commentary but focuses on the actual 'behind-the-scenes' of the showbiz, focusing on the romance and growth of the main couple, particularly the FL as she juggles between romance, revenge and career on the side. <<less

It is not my usual read, as I tend to avoid the melodramatic cliché plotlines that involve largely unnecessary misunderstandings, but the writing and actual execution of this story is not that bad. The protagonist is a girl who is easily moved by love but who has purposefully suppressed her heart to focus on revenge since she thinks her love is unobtainable. Her love interest is aware that her involvement in his life is manipulated by third parties, but this does not affect his view of the girl herself since... more>> she was an unknowing innocent party. He aimed to protect her as a sister only to wake up one day to realize he slept with her (this being revealed in the opening chapters) on mistake while drunk. He had ambiguous feelings with another girl at the time and had previously determined to protect the main protagonist, so he felt very confused to realize he crossed that line even if he did not reject his feelings for her. He overtly made this determination but in fact he had always treated this so called little sister better and was much more affected by her disappearance than that of his so called "first love". He knows the protagonist has a strong misunderstanding, even if he does not know how it formed and doesn't remember calling out the wrong name that night, but he will frustratingly not bother to correct his wife's belief he loved another woman. This is a story of two very stubborn people who experienced early childhood trauma and cope with it through very self destructive s*upid methods. I don't like this part of the plot purely because it is TOO realistic. I like my fiction to remain fiction. The plot may have clichés, but the work the author put into characterization is on point.

This type of misunderstanding plot may be very standard and cliché; However, it is the type of misunderstanding a couple in real life might experience if they had a similar background. The unrealistic part of the story is clearly the unimaginable wealth behind the family struggles. I think this aspect of the of the character backgrounds only exist in such exaggerated means in order to raise the stakes and the suspense within the plot. A normal inheritance struggle over only a few grand can still have this level of conflict. The exaggeration of wealth only serves to display the seriousness of the male protagonist priorities in life and his care and thoughts towards the female protagonist. I believe that the author fully took advantage of the cliché they used within the plot to further develop the characters. This inevitably means that some aspects of the story or weaker and compromised in order to further fuel the character driven conflict, but this is not necessarily a bad thing. The author focused on their strengths, and I think they did well.

The author focused on their strengths, and I think they did well. This may have not been a story for me personally, but those who enjoy this type of plot would definitely appreciate this work. <<less

I'm so angry. I didn't realize the story would end after the past recollection and it would not return to the present with some more concluding chapters. It's a bit melancholic.

The overall story - what can I say. It's not overly dramatic or too cliche, neither it's with a whole new ideology. But I like the FL she's not your ideal heroine. Also love how the ML couldn't beat not to love her more each day.

Overall it's a beautiful love story without much complicacies. Waiting for more complete translations of... more>> this Author's works.

Last but not the least, good job with the translation. <<less

To be frank, this is usually the type of story I dislike but I read it all the way to the end.

If you like drama and misunderstandings galore, I recommend this story. Key point is misunderstandings. You’ll be screaming at the MC and ML for not communicating (this would solve all their problems). But I think it’s written quite well. They both definitely have their issues (stemming from dead parents and questionable upbringing as childhood shapes adulthood). Each interaction gives them basis for their assumptions about each other. I think... more>> it’s fairly realistic - as the reader has an outside view, it’s annoying but in reality, people don’t explain everything to each other. A lot of relationships are influenced by what we assume about each other based on what we know.

Their interactions and dialogue are funny even when frustrating. The relationship doesn’t really come together until the very end so even tho they clearly are in love from the start, it could feel like slow burn. The last few chapters are more like an extra since it covers their childhood together. <<less

The writing style is ok and it's heavy on the genres of "drama" and maybe "tragedy." I won't continue reading this anymore, though, as this isn't my cup of tea. I'm not in the mood for relationships that started out full of misunderstandings and would not be settled any time soon.

Really cute shirt story, nothing too deep. I loved the ML and FL together, although there is an ongoing misunderstanding between the 2 that basically lasts the whole story, they make it work. Definitely read if you want a short story with ML and FL with actual personalities and some implied smexy scenes.

This is my first review so I hope I don't offend anyone with it.

First, thanks to the translator of the novel.

Now, I found the story boring and without any interesting plot. We have the typical cliches of CEO novels:

    • MC is abandoned by her family in the countryside and grew up with difficulties - CHECK
    • MC gets plotted over and over again by the evil stepmother, the evil stepsister, and all the other evil side characters (MC comes out unscathed by ALL of these) - CHECK
    • MC father with feelings of guilt towards his daughter but at the same time seeks to take advantage of her - CHECK
    • MC has skills that only she "masters perfectly" (in this case dancing and embroidery) - CHECK
    • ML is the CEO of the "most" powerful company - AN OBVIOUS CHECK
    • The relationship between MC and ML is full of misunderstandings because they don't talk about them - CHECK
    • ML's childhood sweetheart returns to the city wanting to continue her relationship with him (although she doesn't succeed) - CHECK
    • It is discovered that the identity of ML's childhood love is actually MC so we are sold the idea that the couple was "destined" - CHECK
After all the previous cliches (which we can obviously overlook due to the nature of the novel) what I really cannot accept from the novel was the following:

    • In the first chapters we are presented with an independent, intelligent, calculating and heartless MC (even MC sees herself like that) who will use all possible means to obtain revenge for the death of her mother but what we really get is an obnoxius MC whose only skill seems to complain to the ML about the people who "bully" her and expecting him to take care of them since it's his obligation as her husband (although she always reminds him that they are just a political marriage). On one occasion MC even threatens ML to be unfaithful if he doesn't help her.
    • Being a political marriage, MC takes advantage of all the benefits but I never see her contribution in the marriage (apart from the s*x).
    • MC feels jealous of the women who try to approach ML (obviously she denies it) and complains to ML reminding him that they are married, but if ML does the same the MC tells him that they are just a political marriage and that ML should not get involved in her affairs.
    • The ML becomes a doormat for the MC. Once the MC steals a painting from ML that she gives to her father on the condition that her father put the house under her name and that he, the stepmother and the stepsister kneel and apologize at her mother's grave but when the ML takes the opportunity to buy the bankrupt company from MC's family, the MC feels betrayed by him! Seeing her angry, the ML give the company to MC.
Honestly I will never read it again.

I rounded up, but this is webnovel probably a 3.6 or 3.8 max. Like another story this translator/site has done before, the pronouns and names tend to get mixed up, so that can make it confusing if you're both inattentive or too engrossed in the story.

The webnovel itself not bad, but it needs serious fleshing out for the side characters. I get that the leads are important, but man would it have been nice to see them interact with their "friends" (ie employees/coworkers) outside of work. Also, this easily could... more>> have been a smut story with how many times it's implied they do it, and it's kinda disappointing it's not 18+

Didn't see the scondary, hidden, antagonist for the latter half coming, so good job on that, Author. It definitely fit well with the story, maybe not their reasoning, but their motivation and methodology were.

This misunderstanding goes on for a long while and makes for a pretty good sadomasochistic plotline that ends a little too blandly (and rushed) for my taste. All that wonderful feeling of suffocation fizzled out after that initial burst of air.

The extra story at the end wasn't super impactful even though the cyclical nature was probably aiming for such. It would have been better off being more about their married/family life, or a particularly impactful moment in their childhoods that also would have stood out to us. Heck, even a side story about the fallen antagonists would have been more satisfactory.

If you got time to burn, and you like pain and frustration, then this is an okay recommendation. <<less

A complete train wreck.

This novel was written by a talentless and incompetent author.

Most of the characters if not all were absolutely revolting and immature. I specially abhore the MC and ML who were ruled by their hormones and were unable to make reasonable decisions. It felt like reading about mentally ret*rded people biting each other.

Novels like these, should have remained in the author's draft folder since it's absolutely wortless.

Well, I'd say it's one of completely fine modern ones. I really liked the freshness of it, but it just did not really take advantage of it's premise. I think that they have one of the better settings for misunderstandings, but it wasn't utilized much, and barely even confronted. It's a bit of a bummer that they didn't take advantage of literally any fresh aspect and instead went and made them basic. Like, could've made him into an ML ... more>>

Didn't really take advantage of FL setting all the rules and leading the relationship that was hinted at in the beginning, and just went on to make it the usual consent is many times ignored and ML sorta r*pey sort of dynamic.

Its a good kind of frustrating and I enjoy the characters. I love the two leads refusing to admit they care about the other and I look forward to them both breaking down their walls. Its a fun read as long as you don't hate long standing misunderstandings. I hope the translators complete the translation.
