I would rated it slightly higher, but the author is inconsistent as fark! It has been noted several times that the MC can not remember his past life because the God has wiped his memories, yet he remembers his old world did not have two suns, he remembers medieval times on Earth, Japanese currency and different belief of Gods in his previous life. I am positive that as I keep reading, the MC will mentions other knowledge of his past life. The God has lived for over a 11 BILLION... more>> of years, created a world, yet she is s*upid, and incompetent. The MC with his supposedly memory wipe, is smarter and more competent than the God, how is that possible? The MC was given a godly weapon that could destroy anything with one, but when he used on some humans, some were only knocked out unconscious. I could go on about more inconsistencies, but I will stop at that. If the author did not have so many inconsistencies, the story would have flowed a lot better. <<less

There are concerns regarding the inconsistency of the MC's memories and personality.

It's been mentioned that his memories were supposedly erased, yet he somehow remembers various knowledge about Earth. Ok, I guess that can be explained by the difference between memories and knowledge. Like the difference between input files and output files, he can remember his attained knowledge, just not how he learned that knowledge in the first place. Though this is just my conjecture, and it was never explained by the author, but I can rationalize to this extent.

But then... more>> there are inconsistencies with his personality. The MC makes a lot of Isekai WN comparisons, but he's supposed to have been a Ninja/Assassin/Warlord type existence (I'm not exaggerating) in his previous life, in which he lived until a full age of 94 years... I guess maybe he was just a really cool old WW2 veteran dude who loved Fantasy/Harem Web Novels... ugh, OK, I'm being optimistic here but I guess I can live with that self-explanation.

But then there's the inconsistency in his decision-making. It's mentioned and shown early on in the novel that the MC has an unyielding personality and is not easily influenced. Yet he willingly walks into a dangerous political situation that no rational person would involve themselves in, simply because a girl threatened to falsely accuse him of raping her if he doesn't agree to help. He doesn't get angry or try to gain any upper-hand in negotiating with her; he just simply gives up as soon as she makes a basic threat. Basically she gives him an ultimatum of: you can either have s*x with me and repay me by risking your life in a high-stakes political struggle for no gains, or you can not have s*x with me and I'll level a completely obvious false accusation against you... Rather, isn't he totally just thinking with the wrong body part!?... And that might be fine if the readers actually got any details, but we don't even get a clear definitive answer as to whether or not he actually slept with her, let alone any sort of entertaining R-15 descriptions. Author, if you're going to make the MC into a complete pushover at the mention of s*x, at least give us a few details please! (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Er, I guess if you can just turn your brain off for a while, then this novel is enjoyable... But on the other hand, the plot seems to be heading in a semi-complicated political direction, so you can't exactly turn your brain off if you want to read the story. The novel might have worked out as a simple R-15 comedy if the author had kept the plot to a simple ecchi harem adventurer story, or alternatively it might have worked out as a serious fantasy adventure with political undertones if the author had managed to make the MC's personality consistent... But as it is, with the author's lack of writing talent, this novel just reads like a children's story with more gore (the gore is where the R-15 tag comes from btw). <<less

Amazing. I love every bit of this. It's not the best novel ever, but it is amazing.

[I am re-writing this review after finishing volume 5.]

After finishing the 5th volume, I can very confidently say that this novel is way superior to most novels. I will divide my reasons into points, so you can basically consider the following a "Pros" list.

  1. The protagonist is very refreshing. He is far from one dimensional and has a fairly complex personality. Before being reincarnated, he was a 90-year-old Kenjutsu master, who dedicated his life to fighting.

After an incredibly fun and refreshing encounter with the creator of all things (it cannot be precisely called god tho), he is reincarnated into a world that is supervised by another entity called an "administrator". The latter entity does not know about the reincarnation of the former tho.

Anyways, he is given his former body of 18 years of age, and this is where the personality gets a bit complex. Although he was initially an old geezer that knew nothing but fighting, he is now being thrown into a brand new world, as a "lad". This creates a dynamic of him being in constant conflict with his emotions when it comes to certain decisions, but this is why the MC is so brilliant. On one hand, you have a smart, calculating, and selfish battle maniac. On the other hand, you have a good-hearted boy who acts according to instinct. My point is that he is "human", not a walking MC stereotype. However, this seems to make some readers dislike him for some reason, with some calling him a "hypocrite"? Well, duh, show me one person who is not a hypocrite and I will give you a cookie. Aways, I love the MC, so moving on -
  2. The world is great. And by world, I mean both the world (literally), and the world building in this novel. I never had a feeling that the world building is lacking or that the world is hollow (as I do with many other novels). Both elements are exactly what a fantasy novel should be.
  3. The side characters are very well written, and equally well introduced.
  4. The story is written in a very interesting and refreshing manner. The author clearly knows what he is doing, as you will never get bored. Have you ever wondered why in many novels nothing happens according to the MC's plan? Or why does the MC is a loser 99% of the time? That's because we know that the MC is going to do at all times. Imagine having the MC say "We are doing to rob a bank", reading through MC's plan, and then having to read through 50 pages of the MC flawlessly robbing a bank without a hinch. Boring right? Now imagine what if the same thing happened, but we had 0 ideas whether the events that transpire are going according to plan, just because we simply know nothing about it. Not only does this add a layer of mystery to the whole thing, but it also adds a ton of intrigue. This is exactly what this novel is doing. Instead of making the MC fail or adding unnecessary plot twists, this novel is simply well written enough to omit any redundancies. Even dialogues are written in a way that will never make you bored. Instead of presenting you with 3 pages of dialogue, this novel jumps forward or backward in time to present us with the reasons behind the dialogue, or the events after.

This way, even the dialogues are intriguing. Anyways, this novel is brilliantly written in my opion and I could go on for a very long time.
  5. The battle scenes are superb. The battle scenes are exactly what they need to be. No redundant descriptions, no super-long fights against foes that do not matter, just pure bliss.
  6. This novel breaks a LOT of stereotypes. I could write a 10 page list of stereotypes broken by this novel, but the one I most appreciate is that the MC is not a hero, nor a villain. As I said before, just like all of us, he is a selfish human. He acts because he wants to accomplish something, not because "The world needs him" or because "He was to kill everyone to take revenge for [insert a reason here]".
  7. This is not exactly an achievement of the novel, but the translation is very good both for the WN and LN. Moreover, as of right now, you can read volumes one to three in LN form, and then switch to WN for volumes four and five. You will not miss anything, and volume four of WN picks up exactly where volume 3 of LN leaves us. If you are reading this in the future, this may be completely irrelevant, but I know that many readers are concerned about the translation so that's that.
I could go on for much longer, but overall this is surely one of my favorite novels so far.

Easy enough to explain the inconsistency of the MC's memory, his memories of his life are wiped, all personal info is lost, without memories to relate to, he doesn't know what other things he knows until they come up. He doesn't know how many celestial objects were at his world, but this world's sky looks weird to him. He spent years of his life building up various skills, lots of his life's memories are tied to those skills, but even without the memories the skills are there, he just won't... more>> notice til he tries to learn/or use them. <<less

Aside from the story being bland, along with all the characters, the MC spends pages thinking about why he's doing something, or the narrator explaining the reasoning, which should take one sentence, over, again, pages.

On top of this is the utter sh-! Translation job. Here's an example: Renya didn't understood it and standing with a blank expression.

This would get big red marks on a 2nd grade homework assignment. I think just running Google translate on it would do the same job.

The MC is incredibly inconsistent, at one moment he's a professional assassin and in the next scene he behaves like an idiotic teenager, if the author can't write adult characters he should have just made the MC another teenager.I don't believe this guy is 94 years old, if the author avoided that point and presented him as a "normal" 15 years old boy this novel would have been just another mediocre product, some people justify his inconsistent attitude because he suffers amnesia but that doesn't explain why he remembers enough... more>> to act badass with the evil guys but behaves as a virg*n teenager with the girls, don't get tricked this guy is like any other spineless mangina MC (excluding the bad guys).

The Heroines are unlikable and bland, at first I though they would be like local wives or temporary characters but they are the main ones, one constantly manipulates the MC (why he never tries to outsmart her is beyond me) and the other is a s*upid spoiled manly ojousama that whines and gets in the way.

This novel is not dark, it's edgy a dark novel wouldn't make a supposed assassin grandpa obey the nun like a lapdog and behave like a neet teenager that never had contact with a girl before.

In conclusion, rather than wasting your time with this novel pick up another one about a transported teenager making a harem, this novel gets two stars because the Loli Goddess and the angels were funny. <<less

It’s a novel where the MC dies from old age and is summoned by a goddess that ask him if he can help her by being transported to another world. After listening to her reason, he agrees and he finds himself in a forest with him in his former aspect of 18 years self.

Wandering around he finds 2 girls being attacked by 6 men and he helps them. They should be the girls in the illustration image.

The first 25 chapter is about him and the girls doing quests.

The MC is... more>> level headed so you will have a calm adult who doesn’t kill around without reason. <<less

The MC is an adult, an old man in a young body, but behaves properly. The illustration image doesn't fit with the story at all, there isn't any harem until now nor a fluffy mood. Also the MC appearance is different from what is mentioned in the book, so don't be rejected by the image.

The pace is good and the characters are nice and well told. I don't know if it will tilt to comedy or plot later on, but the writing style doesn't seem one for ecchi at least.

It's boring. The first chapters has a comedic parts, but that comedy tag is not present in most of the chapters. I endure reading this until many negatives is accumulated and made me dropped this. I don't particularly care for a detailed description and even there is some inconsistensies I can endure it as long as the story is fun to read. But this one has no fun, there's nothing exciting that will make you want to read another chapter. I don't really recommend this for those who want a... more>> relaxing read. <<less

Cons.

Romance - Error 404 Not Found. You disappoint us. This is just a bait, comrades.

MC is like someone w/ a split personality.

Enemies are all idiots

Female companions are all bland.

Pros.

MC is not a dunce.

MC is not your typical softhearted twerp.

Background is sensible.

Garbage. It started off really well, he seemed like a ruthless cool character. As the story goes on, you quickly find that that's a complete lie and that he's a stereotypical dense overly nice Japanese MC. As of chapter 135, he's made only about 2-3 actual important decisions/choices regarding his own life. Everything else is just him being led by the nose by everyone else, yet he complains about it incessantly as if he's some badass tough guy character. Almost nothing has happened in about 30 chapters, it's basically turned... more>> into a shitty town management book so, I'm done.

TLDR; MC is a stereotypical dense/lame Japanese MC. <<less

Great story so far. MC is a bit dark compared to the typical shounen protagonist but I like how matured he is, being able to show integrity and straightforwardness therefore avoiding some cringe-worthy troupes other spineless and herbivore protagonists suffer.

The memory thing hasn't really been an issue for me so far. I think it's just a way for the author to say "guys, his past doesn't matter and concentrate on what he's doing now".

One of the points in this series some people are having problems with, is the issue with his supposedly erased memories. While I think that knowledge and memory are 2 different things, like how you'll still be able to use a toilet when you're an amnesiac, I have decided to think that when he talks about things of his past life, it's just an instinctive or gut feeling he gets when he experiences things. Like he'll automatically think a bath is a normal thing that should be taken everyday and... more>> the food are too bland and cheap compared to "normal". Though there are parts where he has too many information about certain things that makes you think, "Huh? You sure your memory is wiped clean?", I've decided to ignore those points to enjoy this story (lol).

This is a story about an old man reborn after a satisfying death in another world filled with swords and magic. A god has asked for his help to put back the balance in her world. He ended up being lured by the food in that world so he agreed and thus, he started his second life as an 18-year-old "Lost" (people from other worlds).

It's a good read if you like protagonists that don't hesitate to kill and are strong. He was an amazing swordsman from his original world and he has also been gifted to be able to use magic. It's an isekai adventure story with another gourmet protagonist. <<less

All the links for infinite novel translations for this story are broken. I managed to track down chapter 5 and 6 through google by different people. Unfortunately it seems my read stops here for now.

So far the story is light, comedic, and fluffy. The conversations are the high point thus far typical manzai action at work with frequent rebuttals.
Spoiler

It isn't often you get to see the MC dropkick god in the first minute.

[collapse]
The one action scene was more or less glossed over. Apparently it's 365+ chapters long. As such i've barely scraped the surface.

Whelp looking forward to further developments and hopefully the first 35 chapters that did get translated will be uploaded again at some point.

This was a 3 star up till the Elf arc. It went drastically down hill from there. The author should have done better with that arc. It totally ruin the series. Actually the story started out pretty good but it turned sour right after he acquired his home base and met Frau. You don't have to trust me, just skip to the ending of the elf arc and see how s*upidly resolved. The MC made such a poor logic in helping the elves and then goes on to antagonize the... more>> elf emperor and let us know he cares little for the female elf, even though it went against his initial thoughts. Since the premise is nothing new one could be discouraged to read this novel. Yet I have to say that it is a good read. The pacing may not be the best and I do not experience that eagerness to read ahead like some other novels, but still I like the characters and the setting and, having taken a look to some LN illustrations, I also like the direction it is going to.

Another take on an old man dies and gets reincarnated to another world, but gets to skip the first 18 years, instead of being reborn. As of c25 is good so far, but we will see how it develops. MC is mature and calm, unlike the typical Japanese MC who blush at the sight of any kind of skin shown, i.e thighs, belly, shoulders etc. MC is not an over sexed crazy looking for a harem, but it develops naturally somehow. Enjoyable story so far. 5/5 up to c25.

Very good Series, in my opinion, it is different compared to the other transported to another world kind of novels. The Character himself is pretty OP but still was created with room to grow. I've never been a fan of someone limiting themselves when a God gives them an opportunity to be much more but its done very well here.

There will be a lot of nitpicking about his memory being erased and what not but memories of his past life and knowledge of his past world are very separate things.

Will... more>> likely cause you to miss on a very good story if that's what you choose to harp on I read the 1st two volumes in 2 days.
