So our MC has been through tough times
1. Parents died in an accident
2. Best/Childhood friend rejected him. How the author probably wanted the story to come out - A desperate kid who lost his family and was alone but managed to get over it. Had a spiritual sustenance in the form of his childhood friend but then got rejected by her. Loses any reason/motivation to live and tries to commit su*cide. Basically he's exhausted and has nothing to live for but a random act of saving another person probably gave many untold possibilities that he decided to live for someone else. How the idiot actually wrote it -
1. S*upid and dense MC (Not beta but definitely s*upid)
2. MC is really wimpy 3. Depression should lead to a certain degree of detachment/lethargy. No trace of that. Just a few lines in the early chapters and then its glossed over. If you want to introduce a background like that, use it. Don't forget about it.
4. Depression/su*cide is a tough topic to talk about. You just don't talk about it to random beautiful girl in your class who also happens to be working in a store which is where you are about to commit su*cide. No real sense of development here.
5. Again the MC has no redeeming point besides being a "yasashi hito". But then that's a problem with 99 percent wish fulfillment Japaneswish fulfillment literature so I can't specifically diss this one for that. I'm probably being a bit too critical here when there are novels way worse than this one but again it's mostly because such a good idea was wasted because of it's style of writing.
